  1. Hi Carl, Great work on the BoBol D conversion and the plates and ConFlat A to, Glad you found a use for the BoBol D's. MC
  2. Hi Carl, It's great to see the new work on the layout, and loving the new wagon stock. . Mike
  3. Some of the VBB ( later recoded back to VBA with the removal of the Vacuum pipe connections ) vehicles from Lot 3726 were assigned to Rowntree’s of York confectionary traffic and gained white roofs for this use. HTH Meld

  6. Fat Controller said .... "My main recollection of Cambrai is that we lodged in one of those 'Formule 1' type hotels; virtually every other room being occupied by people having clandestine (but very noisy) affairs." Once we had got into the damn place ... and negotiated the Lego style furniture .. ! I'd be up for another overseas adventure again ... . Meld.

  8. Hi. Please don't forget that the RUDDs were converted to Air Brakes during their construction ( hence the ZBA TOPS Coding ) and this would mean that additional work to remove the VB cylinder etc and AB new parts would be needed on the Dapol GRAMPUS U/F. HTH MC
  9. Hi Paul and All, It's actually too wide ( but easily [!!] cut down to the right width and reassembled with out having to destroy the Hornby paint finish - https://broomliegh.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/a-bakers-dozen/ ), being made the same width as the RUDD, which makes it wrong ( The Parkside CLAM kit is the correct width however! ) The Wordpress post is rather old, but I managed to find a perfect paint match with a Hannants RAF Grey. MC
  10. Well, the opportunity to make the Clam the right width is there for Dapol and the "Electrification" marked Olive green Tope gives the only other livery not already covered by the previous Hornby models. IMHO, the Hornby Chassis is very, very good for RTR, with many separate components in its construction. However .. I just wish that something other than the duplication of another New Generation ( 'super', separate and multi parts, detailed modern Chinese production ) RTR wagon could have been thought of. MC
  11. This Listing show the WR allocated ones that would have probably been BR Lined Green later in their lives ( all were BR Lined Black when first built ). http://www.82045.org.uk/82045_allocations.html It doesn't show the very few that were Plain BR Green though. Don't take this as gospel though, always try to find a picture of your required loco in the required time period. I'm sure some kind soul on the forum has a more detailed listing they can post for you too ); Meld
  12. I used to run with the Guards compartment light off when I worked the Paper Trains out of W/Loo. Paper vans and GUV's had light switches internally by the doors. Very dim and dingy inside and that was with the lights on ( except the Fluorescent tube lit Paper BG's and GUV's ), never helped by the always dirty in service windows on most parcels stock. MC
  13. The Hornby Clam is way too wide though ... I know as I have cut enough of them down to the correct width and struggled to find a matching grey/blue paint to hide the scars of the surgery ( Hannants RAF GR2 Harrier grey ). The Humbrol authentic colour Departmental Grey acrylic is a match only to the Light Grey Seacows they produce! Mike.
  14. Hi All. AFAIK the 38 was to be akin to a 'Baby' 60 and was meant to replace the Class 37, the 37/9's were the 1st stage of the idea as they were the engineering test beds for the prime mover of this projected locomotive, there being the two engines on test at the time MC
  15. Hi All. My Flickr Album, https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikecubberley/albums/72157645041616923 , from a 2011 PTG FEVE week long tour. Enjoy at your leisure MC
  16. Hi Justin. Any further updates on the Shochood B please? Many Thanks Mike
  17. Hi Wayne. The 'spoil' is actually a fine Ballast made from Granite from Meldon Quarry. It has a very Dark grey look with flecks of lighter greys and browns. It is laid onto a thin pure PVA layer spread on top of Ten Commandments loads in the Clams, which are on different levels of Cardboard 'feet' to give differing levels and Make Your Mark Models resin loads in the Topes that have been sanded to allow a difference of push fit to vary the load heights ( both of which have been undercoated in dark grey primer ) and left for over 24hrs to fully dry off I have, in the past, tried to make a mix of dust ( to simulate earth ) and ballast, but it always ended up a complete mess of 'stodge' that was un-usable. HTH MC
  18. A great 3 days at the show, despite the weathers best attempts to derail it even before we started. Congratulations to the show organisers for another well presented AMRSS show. Here are a few pictures of the new train mentioned by Paul .. some are an attempt at the angles seen in the originals .. The prototype train has 28 wagons, so I modelled that many ... Then we found that only 22 would fit in the longest sidings! ( a more realistic length will be 20 -18 wagons ). MC
  19. Not on me as I'm at the show still... I'll dig some poor 35mm print stuff out once back down south in the next week. As a note the MK1 BSK'S were still around into the grey and green BRT days and then moved onto the WCML OHL upgrade and then onto Balfour Beattie. Number range was KDB 977162 - 169 IIRC, but check on Departmentals.com HTH MC
  20. Stafford was the main Base for the fleet of wagons... don't forget the 6 MK1 BSK staff vans ... Myself and a friend did a rake of 12t pipe, a BR std brake van, a ex LMS brake van both having been converted to staff riding vans and one of the MK1 BSK'S many moons ago to run on the MRC'S New Annington layout. MC
  21. Wasn't the 4 COR still there back in 2015?? Steady Now!! MC
  22. The "T" is for services that terminate and start back from that platform, this is to allow the relevant mirror/monitor bank to be in the correct place for DOO operated Trains and it has nothing to do with the 700 series marks, that is why the new marks are placed as a 'Diamond' and use different terminology. Square signs are the Std car stop marks for Pre 700 series stock in the GTR services area and the correct stopping position for GTR services using Class 319/377/387 and 442 stock. MC
  23. Hi. These are Car Stop Boards for use ONLY with the new GTR Class 700 Siemens units .. FLU = Full length unit, 12 car, 7001xx number range. RLU = Reduceded length unit, 8 car, 7000xx number range. ALL = All stop car mark. both 8 & 12 car units to stop here. Note. There are some FLU & ALL Car Stop Boards with "SDO" twice on each of the top angled perimeter band and this is to remind the driver to use the "Selective Door Opening" buttons. HTH MC
  24. The Barnehurst Sub-station has been demolished and replace with a new set of silver buildings and transformers from Siemmens. It was a shame as it was probably the easiest to do field research on, being next to the up platform. HTH MC
  25. Hi Brian. Life is a full time learning experience!! . If this was the end to be coupled to the 33/1 it would be fine ... just remember to have the small red oval centre handle of the 33/1's high level air pipes raised at the coupled end too ( but only one pair on each of the 33/1 and the TC ), then you could join up the pipes, MU Jumper ( again one side only - the same side as the air pipes, see attached blow up pic of a pair of 73's MU'd up. same principle ) and ETH jumpers on both sides with some small magnets and it will look the absolute Muts Nuts. HTH Mike
