  1. I agree with the sentiment that modelling a heritage railway requires the same discipline and there are examples as to why it doesn't always work, but to have "locos never actually preserved" seems a little harsh! We're all in the hobby for various reasons (with differing recollections and aims) so beyond Rule 1 I don't think it's too much of an issue if done sympathetically. Not the point I'm making, but there are occurrences where one locomotive masquerades as another for photoshoots, etc?
  2. It was confirmed on Facebook today (July, 12th) that there are "no plans for another production run" however if they "get enough demand for them" it will be considered...
  3. https://www.bluebell-railway.com/whats_on/8th-model-railway-weekend/ Following the announcement at the recent GCR event, I’m hopeful of further Bluebell Railway additions to the Scenecraft range...
  4. Very true re Hattons, Roy. The continual updates change little, of course, but people invest so much time (and money) in the hobby I think it nice to know how a project is progressing (or not as the case may be)? I would suggest it's down to the individual (as opposed to an entire generation), but see your point in the age of social media.
  5. I find it’s the lack of updates which is frustrating - I appreciate manufacturers aren’t obligated to continually update us about every little change, but it’s a shame to see when things slip without reason. Hattons were good in sharing progress with their P Class, for example - contrast this to Rails and their Terrier which is quite limited?
  6. In light of recent events surrounding DJMODELS LTD I wonder about the future of this project? On September, 19th 2014 DJM Dave commented: - One assumes it will still progress assuming KMRC do indeed have full ownership of tooling, etc?
  7. Currently due May... https://www.Hornby.com/uk-en/shop/pre-orders/bluebell-railway-secr-h-class-0-4-4t-263-era-11-Hornby-collector-club-exclusive.html
  8. It's a shame that the amendments haven't been shared as it would be beneficial to know that what's being discussed here has been/will be addressed. That being said I preordered with RoS the day of release last year and don't think I'll be lurching over to Hornby just yet...
  9. Unfortunately it's the owners of said backpacks that are the problem as they’re entirely oblivious when they hit you with them!
  10. Congratulations on the feature, Graham; an enjoyable read accompanied with some great photos.
  11. Yes, would agree they were quite 'samey' - I think Kent Garden Railways were the only trader selling new stock.
  12. Although there's a Calendar entry I couldn't find a thread... http://www.ashfordmrc.com/ Visited this morning to coincide with the imminent withdrawal of A1X Class No 32678 at the K&ESR and glad I did - there were circa twenty exhibitors and a similar number of traders. Two good sized halls with space to appreciate the layouts and peruse the stools. I could have stayed and watched 'Wellbridge' all day! The 2020 exhibition is planned for February, 22nd and 23rd.
  13. Thank you, Jason - much appreciated! Entirely agree re the focus on purchasing locomotives - Ian NOLAN's Flickr album showing the early days of the Bluebell Railway confirms this - the only hint of a brake van being an ex LSWR 'Road Van' (in BR grey?), taken Aug'62! I don't want to detract from the thread title too much (wagons), but on this basis that unfitted/BR grey is the most plausible, think it probably best to hold-out until Bachmann release their ‘Pill Box’ in BR grey (38-401B) or maybe KMRC release their 'Road Van' in BR grey (SB003F).
  14. For an (early) preserved railway offering brake van rides, etc would unfitted be preffered to fitted, generally speaking, or would it not matter? I'm looking for something RTR prevalent to the 1960s (with a SR flavour, if possible)... I have an SR 'Pill Box' already, but in hindsight think it unlikely that early preservation groups would have repainted it so early? That being said, Rule 1 rules, of course... Many thanks for any help.
  15. I suffer taking photos of my micro layout as they have to be ‘perfect’ every-time – shadows and different depths of colour between sessions drives me mad (despite the intention to replicate lighting, etc perfectly). I try to see past it, but struggle once I find an irritation, no matter how small – my frustration with a whole batch I uploaded to Instagram led to me to deleting them all and starting again. I don’t crave likes, it’s just a platform I can share them on, which stupidly makes me more irate!
  16. With so many liveries already covered, I wondered what else we might see in future releases - possibly the two seen here in preservation? Or how about Bluebell in 1960's Bluebell Railway black to complement Primrose?
  17. Seconded, though I think Wickham Green was only giving a tongue-in-cheek prod to Kernow... No Terrier-style competition here!
  18. The Winter 2019 edition of The Collector now gives March for R3648 (No 263) though the Hornby website still says February. R3631 (No 31265) is also still February, per the website.
  19. Whilst this prompts a much wider discussion (admittedly straying from the thread subject), to be so dismissive is quite naive; people young and old are attracted to the hobby for a vast amount of reasons. Personally, I have no interest in what you suggest should be "entry-level". To the child gravitating from Thomas the Tank Engine or having seen the Flying Scotsman, Tornado, etc for the first time, where would they turn for an introduction to the hobby?
