  4. Looks superb, can we see the Britannia on the track?
  5. Please can anyone offer a basic plan to allow me to scratch build a few JSA wagons, see pic below. I do know the length over buffers is 12500mm and the wheel base is 7010mm but could do with hood dimension, anything you can supply, thanks
  6. Thanks, I am hoping to make a site after the Winter, the pictures I have seen of the containers in Barry with the reach stacker loading the containers is very modelable. I found this pic of Goole Dock on the ABP website never seen any think like it for the bulk loader, hope I am allowed to put it here?.
  7. Thanks for the interest Chris. As usual with a project of mine I have progressed well with the rolling stock, but no one inch of track yet....
  8. Good point on the back scene, thanks. It is one of the Gaugemaster ones and it said industry but like you say too far west for my location.
  9. Can you please offer advice or help on my new OO project Cadoxton Quay. A fictional location set around the turn of the century on the waterfront between Barry and Penarth. The scenario in my head at the moment is….. More of the Barry Dock Company coal harbour have survived to present day and as well as dock number two being used by Associated British Ports for small scale shipping and industrial basis number 4 is still in operation and this is Cadoxton Quay. I what to build a large shunting twig , more a branch, hope to fit all I want in a layout with 12 foot of scenic display. A small Wales and West Station, in the fashion of Barry Island. An industrial setting, small Enterprise container trains and a cement facility. Similar in feel to the brilliant Vopak without the chemical plant but with container handling and the odd Pacer or Sprinter thrown in. All comments welcome, prototypical photographic inspiration, please……. Baseboards are done, track plan is working progress, watch this space, thank you for your interest.
  10. Have you tried a GWR 57 and dummy GWR power cars round the layout yet?
  11. Please can I be invited for the session? You could charge people to test run there trains?
  12. Excellent, three trains running at once with two DCC controllers brave man. Reminded me of Hayley Mills.
  13. Watch this space everyone, layout looks even better in the flesh.... Thanks for the loan of Wyvern and your BRAs to run in my Transrail 37 at the weekend.
  14. Black and white pics look even better....
  15. A great little show, cake and model trains, all for charity...
  16. Please can anyone help drawings or pictures of the early Thrall built FCA lowline container flats? They are similar to the Freightliner FEA/B twin sets but a different top profile, built for EWS in around 1998? Mr Barltetts excellent site has some pics from the Thrall Factory in York. Plus Modern Wagons offer a O gauge model, there are some pictures of their excellent kits. I need help to scratch build the top profile please. Thanks all.
  17. Thanks Ian, thankfully I have kept in touch with Nigel, one of the main reasons British trains are back in for me was down to a weekend operating Melangoose recently. The year 2000/2002 would suit as I do want to model a 66 or two, plus the left overs EWS inherited....
  18. Hello RMweb I am a born again OO modeller. In the 1980’s and 1990’s I was lucky enough to play trains on layouts such as Haley Mills and Holmworth, Easington Lane, legend in their layout lifetimes. A model railway of my own, Russell Bridge was squeezed into the world around the same time and a lot of fun followed. One or two of you over 50’s might remember these heady pre DCC days of Lima locos and Cambrian kits. For some reason at this point in my model life I was enticed by what some would call the dark side. 15 years in the wilderness have followed in North American HO and On30 modeling. Now due to a midlife crisis or something similar, I am back into British Railways, looking to catch up on the last 20 years and build something DCC that makes a noise. Any suggestions? I don’t think I can do todays’ modern image, I think I will have to go back to the turn of the millennium and model that modern image?
