  1. Yep, all would startle anyone who so happens to be walking by! We had quite a few people walk by, either doing door to door advertising or just taking a stroll in what is normally a quiet street! Although I will say it was VERY loud! I could hear it from the other side of the house and when I went up close I needed earmuffs! I'm sure you needed earmuffs for what you did too, though. Anyway, back on topic!
  2. Looks interesting but I think the boiler is a bit small for a loco that large. But yet again practicality isn't of much concern and it's YOUR railway after all! I think that'll be an interesting project.
  3. I thought the loudest noise was my dad's Mazda rotary with an open exhaust...
  4. Oh, sorry about that. Years ago I was very strong about not revealing my real name online, but even now I still do. And yes weather here is very unpredictable lately, you never know when it will be sunny (and potentially stinkin' hot!) or whether we'll get some 'English Weather' (what I call a cold and rainy weather!).
  5. I've wondered what Gresley coaches would look like with pantographs.
  6. Just stumbled across this thread and these coaches you're building look great. I follow with interest!
  7. Not too much to report lately. I've (slowly but surely!) cut out more windows and have filed them back. I did have some issues with the middle window of the centre saloon though. The top bit that goes above the window snapped and I've been trying to glue it back in, but later found I had to carefully work my way around the bit then glue it back. (Note to self, DO NOT SNAP THE DAMN SECTIONS AGAIN!) The windows for the saloon behind the cab still need to be cut, and then I will draw up and cut out the other side. I hope to get the ends 3D printed very soon too so they can be primed and united with the sides. (I say 'ends' as I don't trust myself with the curved cut at the rear of the vehicle and some may have noticed I cut the sides to the doors rather than all the way back to the ends).
  8. So will you be running your O gauge stock alongside the HO trains or is the HO sort of taking over now?
  9. Someone should make that their profile picture...
  10. Anyone here (living in Australia, NSW!) going to the Hunter Valley Steamfest?

  11. They came from America... From the opposite of Lincolnshire... The steam will disappear, with these monsters taking their place! We've waited a very long time, but they've finally come. Here comes the EP1!
  12. I see... I thought he may have injured himself!
  13. I made a train similar to the one on my profile picture over six months ago but it didn't turn out too great. I still plan to paint it but as a derelict thing in a siding. After this project I'm currently working on I'll make a Mark 2 version.
  14. Dammit. Started my Cravens DMU not long before I found and you're already WAY ahead!
  15. I think the bloke in front of the wagon behind the loco may need some assistance...
  16. I've seen a 4-CEP cheaper than a Class 101 two car set!
  17. Found this: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/122275-early-dmu-depots/
  18. I bet I couldn't even fit two coaches into my layout or my budget!
  19. Well our layouts are very far apart in time then. 12 years apart from the railway's founding (mine was founded in 1891) 30 - 50 years apart on represented time period (I'm currently in a state of 1950's - early 1970's BR era)
  20. I don't know if you've mentioned it already (you probably have, I assume!) but how far back does the railway date?
  21. A couple of days ago I received an email from THNSW (as I'm on their mailing list) that the annual Hunter Valley Steamfest is coming up in less than a months time. The annual Great Train Race is already sold out, but there's still plenty more to do! It will be held on the following days: Saturday 14 April Sunday 15 April There will be trains (obviously!), antique machinery, the annual 'Show N' Shine' and entertainment. More can be found here: https://www.steamfest.com.au - Home page https://www.steamfest.com.au/journeys/ - Train Trips
  22. I thought it was called Rivet Counting Disease...
  23. Sounds interesting. I see you've also changed the title.
