  1. That depends how deep the water is!
  2. Not to mention the title is too long!
  3. I have a collection of Australian Outline Lima stuff, all restored to working order, including: - A NSWGR 44 Class No. 4469 in 'Tuscan Red' (actually brown) - A NSWGR 42 Class No. 4201 in Indian Red - An 'XPT' in original Candy colours (with HST tooling) - unfortunately one of the coaches is missing a bogie! - Various Lima wagons - I probably have 10 of these I also have some old Hornby Railways stuff including: - An LNER D49 No. 222 'The Berkley' - I love the sprung tender coupling! I don't know why it isn't used in current RTR models. - An LNER A4 No. 4902 'Seagull' - I also own a couple of Hornby NSWR coaches which came out of a set of five including a locomotive. - A Hornby Breakdown Crane in BR Red
  4. Well I've gotten around the profile of the body and the front is nearly completed! More can be found here.
  5. Well since the last post there has been progress! It's really starting to look the part now, after TWO YEARS of trying to perfect the shape of this train I've finally done it! The front is nearing completion and soon I will properly cut the headlight socket into the cab dome and hopefully I should get it looking something like my profile picture!
  6. And the fact that what I'm trying to make has an extremely deceptive body profile!
  7. Which F1? The car... Or Sydney's 80 year old Red Rattler?
  8. Going up a few scales? I've actually considered this to become another project, for this and the fact that bigger scales are easier to work with when it comes to smaller details and complex shapes. I wouldn't move everything to a bigger scale but I think a one off larger scale model would be good. Imagine the possibilities...
  9. I've started drawing up the model on Sketchup so hopefully I can 3D print the thing before the RTR version is released! See my Aussie Content thread (see signature) for more.
  10. Something else I've been working on: a NSWGR 600 Class. This project was backlogged for much later but since Eureka Models are going to produce one of these I might as well get mine under way ASAP! The overall shape of the body is nearly complete but the cab roof dome is an issue as it has an oddly shaped headlight protruding out of it and the shape of it is pretty much impossible to get to right, so I'm not sure what to do here...
  11. I can really see this coming along now, and I think it looks great!
  12. Found out an RTR manufacturer wants to produce the very same train I want to scratchbuild, and coming to think of it I can see compromises everywhere already like intrusive chassis blocks, poor interior lights and potentially poor quality sound! It will be a challenge that I accept and will hopefully be successful.
  13. I've taken a real turn in my projects/proposals lately due to my reluctance to continue with my Class 112 DMU (hopefully I can get back to this soon) and I'm starting some Australian HO projects to finally start after wanting to make these things for a long time, and now I have the goal of beating an RTR manufacturer with the train on my profile picture!
  14. Good thing I've now made meself a new Aussie workbench! Things like this won't appear here again.
  15. Thanks guys, now to find a way to build the damn thing! Has the most deceptively complicated shape I'll say!
  16. I can already see intrusive chassis blocks, dim interior lights and poor sound coming our way...
  17. I have had a project back logged for quite some time now, little did I know that a RTR manufacturer has tooling to produce an RTR model of the very same train! Ok the title may be exaggerated but I don't know what to do about this now. I only found this out today and I'm annoyed as I know my scratchbuilding is nowhere near the quality of RTR, and my first attempt at scratchbuilding an almost identical class wasn't great either! The point of doing this project has been pretty much lost, but I can predict like nearly all Aussie outline RTR it will be ridiculously overpriced and way out of my budget. So I don't know what to do.
  18. I've been feeling a little 'Aussie Minded' lately, so I've decided to make a separate thread to put all of my NSWGR/Australian Outline stuff away from my British outline projects. My reluctance to build my BR Class 112 DMU led me to proposing to build a couple of NSWGR Single Deck Suburbans (Red Rattlers) alongside this British Outline project of mine, so I can interchange between them when needed. I'm unsure of exact details yet but so far I plan to make two cars: Motor Car - Leeds Forge Standard Type w. Beclawat (I don't think that's spelt right) windows - Indian Red - (I'm thinking maybe C3138?) Trailer Car - 1927 Standard w. Original windows - PTC Blue/White - Car no. not yet decided NSWGR Railmotors and other stuff will be posted here too.
  19. POST NO. 603! This is something I first designed two years ago. I then revisited it last year, and yesterday I came across both of these previous proposals again. So I decided to refine the design a bit more. I made something Aussie this time around... 640 Class Luggage Motor Composite 740 Class Second Motor Here's a summary of the design: The 640/740 class railcars were a follow up from the previous 620/720 class railcars. These were different in having air conditioning and an arrangement similar to the 600/700 class. The design is basically a hybrid between the 600/700, 620/720 and the air conditioned 900/950 classes, with the addition of semi-automatic sliding doors. The first set, 641/741 entered service in 1964. The other nine sets were introduced shortly after, becoming the only Power-Twin Railmotor class in NSW.. The semi automatic doors were air operated and in the class's later years these were upgraded to fully automatic doors with closing and opening tones following the introduction of the Tangara in 1987. All sets were withdrawn by 1999. Note: I don't intend on recreating this in HO/OO scale, perhaps I could try a BIGGER scale for this. Maybe O gauge? EDIT: 740 class car added
  20. I look forward to seeing how this loco will turn out!
  21. Just move her back next time so you can see what we all know and love!
