  2. For anyone who hasn't seen, Rapido have released decorated samples: - James
  3. Ah, but what would you like? Corridor stock, or proper "jazz" stock? - James
  4. On 1st March 1880 the GER inherited seven locomotives from the Thetford and Watton Railway (T&WR), these being as follows: Nos. 1 & 2 - a pair of 2-4-0 Manning, Wardle Co. tank locos, built 1870 No.3 - a second-hand 0-6-0 tank built in 1850 by Stothert, Slaughter & Co. and originally delivered to the Monmouthshire Railway & Canal Co. Before being purchased by the T&WR in 1874. Nos. 4 & 5 - a pair of 2-4-0 Sharp, Stewart & Co. tank locos, built 1875 Nos. 6 & 7 - a pair of 0-4-2 Sharp, Stewart & Co. tender locos, built 1876 Nos. 6 & 7 were overhauled and are known to have been painted in GER blue, whilst all seven locos latterly ended up on the duplicate list and were scrapped by the end of 1891. Now, the reference to Nos. 6 and 7 (or GER 806 and 807 as they became) receiving blue is the only reference I can find to any livery ever carried by the T&WR locos. My question therefore is this - What was the locomotive livery of the T&WR, if it even had one at all? Or is it plausible to suggest the locos simply carried the manufacturer's standard liveries (so dark green for the Manning, Wardle & Co. pair). The works photo of T&WR No.2 certainly suggests it was adorned with Manning, Wardle & Co.s intricate lining style. But if this is the case, what of the Sharp, Stewart and Co. locos? Or T&WR No.3? Any help in answering this, one way or another, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! - James
  5. So how about a 3 pack of regionally/locally appropriate wagons? I believe Bachmann did this many years ago although I'd argue theirs was spread too far (for example one Norwich, one Ipswich and one Colchester). A pack of three county (and company/route) specific wagons would sell surely? For example, an M&GN pack with P.Softley, J O Vinter and Bessey and Palmer, all of whom operated at various sites across the Joint (assuming of course they had RCH 1907 wagons - It's just an example!). Just my two pennies worth! - James
  6. I must say, it's a bit of a beast! Really impressed with it! Now for the B17/5 to complete the set... - James
  7. Ah, my bad! Thank you for pointing it out though! Out of interest and for my own education on RCH types, how can you tell?
  8. Additionally, a potential livery option for a future batch of RCH open wagons: https://www.ambaile.org.uk/asset/28679/ 'D.Petrie - Inverness' No.71 which appears to be a 7 plank RCH design. Would make a good partner to the planned Aberfeldy wagon and, again, a certain Jones Goods. (Can you all tell I'm currently on a Highland tangent?) - James
  9. A Highland Railway brakevan to go with a certain goods loco currently in production... - James
  10. Been told R3985 is now in stock at my local shop so I'll be getting mine tomorrow! - James
  11. According to the review posted above, the chimney cap is metal - James
  12. Any idea when R3985 (No.2003) is due? - James
  13. Daft question, but will it have original or modern style overhead flash warnings? The artwork shows the older style but if the model is done as preserved, it will be the later style. (Hoping its the originals!) - James
  14. Order placed! Shame it's just the one car, but one is better than none... - James
  15. Truly a thing of beauty! Can't wait for my IC Executive one! - James
  16. Thank you kindly for these - I've just placed an order in addition to the other wagons I ordered earlier today. I checked again and these can't be found using the HR tag or on the list of 4mm resin kits, just so you are aware! Thanks again! Best wishes James
  17. I wanted to order some more Jones Type A open wagons in 4mm (presumably code BWK1107/4) but they don't seem to exist any more (or rather, only with Sheep Raves fitted). Have these been discontinued? - James
  18. Heads up, 'Rapido UK News No.31' mentions a new running sample of the Jones Goods and says that a video showing its running capabilities will be released "next month" - I look forward to it!
  19. Good to see D7661! Definitely feel I made the right choice pre-ordering that one. Thank you for sharing! - James
  20. Countess of Warrick class (I.e 'Wissington' at the NNR) Furness No.20 (and classmates) Anything GER (literally, anything) A follow up to the suggestion of GNR 6 wheel coaching stock way back when the Stirling Single was released - a versatile coach style that would see GNR, LNER and BR departmental use, as well as M&GN A revisit of the Prototype HST project that previously put on hold - James
  21. Funnily enough, that was the exact same thought I had! Checking my copy of Tatlow, it would appear that 350 vans to Dia.47 (19ft 3 in) were fitted with AVB from new in 1906/1907. The photo of 31050 with red ends is dated 1910. Oddly the number range given for the AVB vans is 31401-750, but 31050 was definitely fitted as such. There is no reference to any of Dia.72 being fitted with AVB, so, if you are willing to overlook the 1mm difference on a model, you'd need to model a fitted van as if it were a Dia.47 (as I did above). Kind regards - James
