  1. Good evening, I recently installed an MX600R in a Hornby A4 (Great Goodbye Mallard). I'm using a Multimaus-z21 combo to program and control it, so far only on a rolling road. However, the only response I get is some kind of full reverse when I turn the control a little forward. I never had a problem like this before, I use ESU Loksound and Lokpilot, TTS and Saphire but the ZIMO is new to me. A reset did not help either. Is there a solution to this, or should I return the decoder? Johan
  2. Thank you, I stand corrected, I was not aware of this omission in their modern designs. A shame really. Johan
  3. The kind of coupling you'll find in Hornby's (and other's) latest coaches (since Pullman?) where the NEM-pockets are held back in a V-shaped slot by a spring, and in the curves are able to expand in the leggs of the V to give a little more distance between the coaches so there is no buffer lock. Most RTR tender engines have a fixed connection, sometimes adjustalble. Johan
  4. If I am not mistaken, on social media, I have seen lots of requests for both the Coronation and the Coronation Scot. And since the later sold out, why not make a second set? I'm sure the Coronation will sell out as well, one coming my way. I'm also not impressed with their freight range, but that is not a new one. Each year they bring out more that I would like than I can afford, and I'm a third generation modeltrain enthousiast, who runs his trains. I'm sorry if there is nothing in it for you, but for me, who prefers pre-war LMS and LNER, I can not complain. For the collectors and merchandise stock, I think these are the items that pay for the more exotic ones (W1, Turbomotive?) Johan
  5. The new Bachmann V2 has this already, so must be the first? Johan
  6. Good question. I don't know (yet) but since it talks about sound applications, and Hornby's own TTS is 8-pin... But it might be the other way around. Johan
  7. They are: R7383 on the Hornby website. If you go to new releases, it's the cheapest item on the list. Johan
  8. In the linked youtube video you can hear both versions.
  9. I just got an update by e-mail from Rails, there is indeed a DCC-Sound option, £125. They included a demo-video. And the autocars are already on their way! Now, which one will I have upgraded? See the website: https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/ner-electric-autocar/products/north-eastern-railway-electric-autocar-dcc-sound-upgrade-package?utm_source=Mailing+List&utm_campaign=ce5875fff8-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_05_23_10_32_COPY_05&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_74d01bc2ed-ce5875fff8-5517849&mc_cid=ce5875fff8&mc_eid=915f5cafab
  10. Not a falsehood, it's indeed true. However, lately you'll only find the second one on cheap substandard electronics. If the W1 is amongst those, I can not (yet) answer.
  11. Thanks Keith for the information. Please forgive this ignorant Belgian Am I right to asume that the W1 has a combination of a Cartazzi and a Bissel truck?
  12. R3623 has both the spare pilot truck as a flanged wheelset for the pony/cartazzi-truck, R3857 as well I think, but it is still in the UK, so I can't confirm.
  13. Hornby R3814 Centenary Collection 2710 LNWR No.1 for €176.91 Not sure if they send to the UK, but being sold from and by Amazon, I would think so.
  14. Weren't they already website exclusives during the new range anouncement? Might be mistaken, but it's not the first time I saw 47712 mentioned as such.
  15. That's my biggest issue with these kind of vans. The Beatles' ones and the Centenary last year are the same. Really a let down for me. I bought the Centenary because I thought it would at least have NEM, quod non. So no Beatles nor Pride for me. But those P2's, my pre-order will triple after I saw the renders on Engine Shed!
  16. The new one is up: https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/p2-and-proud-celebrating-pride?fbclid=IwAR3lTZgCamqwXbWGL92BVI5yUmrN7CvDjR-GSsRjvrx2lYmcvUnZkfmhvJ8
  17. The word 'Generic' springs to mind....
  18. Might be a long shot, but is there a producer of working lamps for the streamlined coronations? There are non-working ones included with the models.
  19. They're included. At least, 6221 has them, 6220 hasn't arrived here yet.
  20. Slightly off topic, but is a motorized vacuum cleaner like Dapol's any use? Or just a nice gimmick? A bit new to this all, although I have a lot of experience with LGB's Track Cleaning engine. Works outdoor way better than any fluid. PS, I had to reread the first time the use of IPA was mentioned. Couldn't believe anyone using 'the other IPA' for cleaning,. Maybe enjoying one after a job well done
  21. Chris, They all had a dedicated section, locked for general use and maintained by an Administrator. Some had an open subforum for questions or discussions, Indeed quite timeconsuming I agree. The other side of the coin was that when people asked questions, they were often send to the FAQ section, which might be of putting for some. My idea was more for a total newbie, to get around with all those specific terms and so on, to see a comprehensive list. Not to go into detail or argument about whats the best sounddecoder availlable, or 8 pin vs 21 pin. Just the terms, and one or two sentences short description, Terms like gauge, scale, Code 75/83/100, Baseboard, Railroad, Electrofrog, DC/DCC, Back tot Back... Indeed most can be searched online with google or such, but if you don't know the correct term, or even it's existence, it might be hard looking for it. No offence taken! I understand your referrence clearly, I might have been a bit unclear on my own questions. Unfortunately, in my former and current job, I've also met some youngsters who just were not able to do a quite simple task by themselves. You'd be amazed sometimes.
  22. Clever idea, both the google search, and saving some of the tips!
  23. Thank you all for the replies and opinions. It is indeed a rather big task to make and especialy keeping it up to date. Mr. Johnster, I never asked anyone to lay anything out for me. I don't ask this for myself, but mostly because I want to help future new modellers, and keep the hobby more easily accessible. I've been on several model-forums, did some boat and airfix modelling in the past, and most of them had some kind of a list or FAQ section. That didn"t keep me from researching! For a glossary of sorts is always limited, and thanks to Wikipedia I've discovered hundreds of locmotive classas, mostly after being mentioned on this very forum. Over half my knowledge of modeltrains I got from here, just by browsing al those topics, and searching for some others. But a FAQ-section helps in avoiding new members asking exactly the same questions over and over again. Also, when you try to keep things on a single forum, you all speek the same 'language'.
  24. Just an idea, I searched for it, and could not find something like it on this forum. Wouldn't it be helpful for new starters, or even older re-starters, to have a comprehensive list with terms and FAQ, with some explanation from the more experienced modellers amongst us? For example, I have, thanks to this forum, a general idea of what 'running-in'means, and why it is so important, but I have no idea how it is properly done. And can it be done on tracks, rolling road or both? Another example, I bought two steam locs from Hornby Railroad before I knew what the difference was with 'regular' Hornby. I learned a lot already in all the different topics, e.g. back-to-back, but if I search for a specific term, it's sometimes quite hard to find an answer. Can't see the tree for the woods (if this is the correct phrase) Johan
  25. Same here in Belgium, the trains drive on the left side. I remember the old fly-over system in the woods between Eupen and Aachen HaubtBahnhof going into Germany. Mostly trips with my father to his favourite modeltrainshop, buying LGB-stuf.
