I have found that if you 'zoom' the website it switches to Android view, with no option to stay on the desktop version.

That's odd... as I'm running a bit short thought I'd stock up... worked fine for me. I think you might have clicked the on basket alongside the Virtuemart logo, which is actually part of the logo...!

The 14.82 quoted here would be wider even than so-called 00 fine-scale, the BB being 14.7 Either way, wheels set to this value will give serious trouble on RTR trackwork.

I can only assume that the photo on the box for the tank wagon kit showed axle boxes with red painted centres, as it appears RosiesBoss has done the same... is there any prototype evidence for this? Haven't found anything on Bartlett...

My first experience of Airfix wagon kits was with my grandfather, when I was 4 or 5. He had been a guard with the LMS and later BR, and we sat at the dining table and built (well, he did anyway) the guards van kit. No idea what happened to it mind, but I do have a couple of others that I built subsequently. The tank wagon is very old, built when I was perhaps 11 or 12, has the original transfers, still no paint, except the red on the axle boxes, (no, I don't know why either!) Really should spruce it up some more... it has sprung buffers and Romford wheels and bearings fitted but plenty more work could (should) be done. The brake van is a much more recent Dapol version; I have two of these but the other is still unpainted. Almost forgot, there's this too... ...and somewhere I have an ancient Pug but I've no idea where it is at present!

I believe, according to the 'latest' price list, that there is a generic booklet that would go out with any order - but specifically 9' wb morton brake gear. I can (mostly!) work it out for myself but the booklet would be handy.

I very much like your bump stop solution. Far easier than fiddling with bits of plasticard... Having said that, Geoff Kent would do it that way, and in 4mm too!

It seems likely that Mr. Wright's comments might have been misconstrued to some degree, but it is easy to see why. I don't recall anyone stating 'look at my work isn't it great!' Pretty much everyone is modest about their work. I think perhaps this edit might have been unnecessary though...

I for one am in agreement with you on this; thank you for putting it so well. I'll admit though that I'm not in favour of dishing out 'Likes' willy-nilly, but am nonetheless very much in favour of seeing everybody's work; masters, journeymen and beginners alike. I have picked up tips and tricks, and ideas have been sparked, from all corners of RMWeb.

As promised, here's a pic of the first two, posed on my still-incomplete-but-functioning shunting plank! Will add loads (probably permanent, for extra weight) and a little weathering. The lettering on these wagons, if Paul Bartlett's website is anything to go by (and I'm sure it is!) was extremely variable, so I've kept to the basics, though some overhead warning flashes probably wouldn't go amiss. They're by no means perfect but I'm quite happy with them. That's all folks...

Is it presumptuous of me to ask if you still have the instructions? ☺ On the loco I'm working on (sporadically!), the tanks are not attached to the boiler directly.

Hi Mookie, just spent a few minutes watching youtube vids of decanting from aerosols... I have to admit it hadn't occurred to me that this was even an option! Mind you, looks like a lot of trouble to go to if you ask me.

Don't think I'd like to try it personally. But this is why Halfords own brand sprays are recommended - the nozzles are surprisingly good, apparently.

You can't be serious surely! I think you'd get into a terrible mess...

Looks like a tidy job there Mookie For weight I usually use coppers glued inside vans and containers. For other wagons I use lead strip glued to the underside of the floor. A total of 20-25 grams per axle is reckoned to be a good benchmark. For paint I currently use Humbrol and Phoenix Precision enamels. If I didn't already have a stock of paint I'd use acrylics in preference; much cleaner. Phoenix and Railmatch are the ranges for rail-specific colours; lots of choices for other colours, Vallejo, Games Workshop etc.

Really? Perhaps your perception of what constitutes rudeness is different to mine. So just trashing other people's hard work for - what? isn't rudeness? If I were on the receiving end I would be offended. It seems a number of people agree with me.

If you (and you know who you are) really don't like it, other forums are available, or start your own! Good luck with that. This is a FREE resource (and a very good one at that) for heaven's sake, and a lot of hard work goes in to it. And I'm quite happy with the new look, for the record.

Howdy, pleased it's back up again! I did have some trouble logging in though; new and old username or email address plus password - nothing worked. In the end I had to reset my password to... what it was before! Thought you might like to know in case anyone else has the same issue.

...which no doubt included some rolling stock? i.e. a train...
