  1. The website is no longer extant; perhaps the business has folded? Would be a shame, the flux is excellent...
  2. A further point to consider... the 'dual-gauge' solution, were it adopted, would prevent those wishing to build their own plain track to 16.2mm from using these kits, whereas the single-gauge solution would enable both camps to use them. I should add that these products are mightily impressive...!
  3. So to sum up, in answer to the OP's original question, neither!
  4. I do... and with regard to your second point, it's impossible to tell from the photo. Actually it's not a 3 throw, the second two crossings are not adjacent, indeed they're 2 timbers apart.
  5. Some of the issues you describe could be explained by shadows... but yes, on closer inspection I would have to agree... but the right hand one has a missing check rail!
  6. Agreed, functionality is more important than looks! But you can't run a wagon through a photo...
  7. The one on the left would appear to be the more prototypical. It has full chairing, stretcher bars etc. and no moving sleeper to act as a switch. I assume the one on the right is of soldered construction? Difficult to tell from the picture.
  8. It occurred to me that perhaps the OP doesn't own a mobile phone.
  9. Agreed it is a bit weird... radio is radio from a phone or a erm... radio! As for the quality issue... I suspect the Roberts radio would be no better than a phone, but Bluetooth is likely (though not definitively) to lower the sound quality.
  10. Sound quality from a mobile phone isn't that great. Perhaps he's after better sound.
  11. If you're referring to the Cambrian Kits Herring, then a polite enquiry through the website might obtain the desired result... I was after some Dogfish, listed as 'Out of stock', but on enquiring I was able to order the very next day, and the kits arrived 2 days later... top marks!
  12. According to BBC Look East News At One the sculpture is called 'Whale Tails Saves the Day'! I think they might have got that wrong...
  13. Mandrel perhaps? Assuming you mean the former you were whacking in to the tubes...
  14. No, far worse! It's also an appalling waste of perfectly good chocolate. And Marmite.
  15. A big shout out for Graham at Cambrian Models - I had been working on a Shark, only to find that one of the side wall mouldings was faulty (extensive sunken sections on the planking). I emailed Cambrian on Sunday, received a reply the next morning, and the replacement arrived today. First class
  16. That should of course read '...rear inner face...'
  17. I wonder if it would be possible to make up springs of a suitable length, just under the diameter of the inside of the buffer housing, then securely glue them on the backs of the buffer heads, lastly gluing the other end to the rear face of the housing. That's probably completely unfeasible so feel free to ignore me!
  18. Thanks Jason, the Brassmasters instructions and pics are very helpful. The version I have has the same tender as the Brassmasters one, i.e. the Fowler 3500 gallon, but there doesn't appear to be any locating points on the one I have... still, I think I have enough info to proceed. Alternatively I could just leave them off, of course!
  19. I attempted to obtain some info by posting in the Questions and Help forum but so far have had quite a number of views but no replies, so thought perhaps by posting a link here... ...I might have more luck!
  20. In the process of fitting the detailing bits and bobs to a Bachmann 4F, I have found it difficult to determine how the cab doors should be attached. Looking at the service sheet it would suggest that they fit inside the cab side sheets, but this seems unlikely. I've not been able to find a definitive pic anywhere, so I was wondering if anyone knows how they should be fitted? To the tender perhaps? I know this applies to some locos, but by no means all. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this...
  21. One of the triangular pivots on the side of the vac cylinder rests in the 'L' shaped mark, thereby setting the depth. Hope that helps!
  22. Well well, who'd a thought it! Thanks. Have now studied the photos further.
