  1. Hi Marly51! Thanks for your nice comments. This little layout is really coming together nicely now, but things will slow down as I need to concentrate on the loading area. I need to source a little forklift some pallets and sacks of aggregate.
  2. Hi this afternoon I have completed the ballasting. I went with the brown ballast this time as I have seen some yards use this colour and I am pleased with the results. Need to let the ballast dry out properly now. More to follow soon.
  3. Jerry thanks for your nice comments and thanks to all for the likes.
  4. Hi Chris I did not expect a wow, but thanks for the great comments. I think when your weathering things are in the lap of the gods as it could go either way. But I’m pleased it’s turned out great.
  5. Work progressed this morning on the glueing down the concrete sections and painting and weathering the walled section of my layout. I must say I’m really pleased with the way the concrete and wall has turned out. I'm going to concentrate on the left hand side of the platform area by building and wood fence and to leave a small gap so I can put some foliage behind. More to come as I plan to build a yard crane for the larger concrete loading area.
  6. Hi I need some advice on what colour red or brown I need to paint my model brick wall. The reason why I ask is because my last wall I attempted was too red even after a grey mortar wash. Any advice will be great.
  7. Hi I received my 2mm plasticard today and started to model the brick wall area of the layout. Scribing has been completed but tedious and wall is fixed in its place, ready for painting up and weathering. I also started work on one of the concrete slab section, painted and weathered up. Pleased with the result.
  8. Whatever I rest my layout on will also support the stick, but if you want to be technical you could attach it with a couple of bolts and some wing nuts.
  9. Hi a quick update. I’m waiting on some modelling items to work. As soon as the 2mm plasticard arrives I can started work on the walls and slabbed areas of the layout as I like to make my own.
  10. Marly51 your modelling skills are really amazing and I like the fact you take the opportunity to research an area before beginning to model. I look forward to seeing more of your cakebox.
  11. Hi and thanks for your comments, the stick will be plain and simple. I will have the track sticking out slightly on the stick so it can be attached to the end of the point. I hope this helps.
  12. I like the work you have done on the buildings and static grass. Looking really nice.
  13. Hi HonestTom thanks for your comments, coffee stirrers are free and very useful to us modellers.
  14. I like the idea of building a pipe gantry as part of the scenic break.
  15. Your layout is starting to take shape nicely, it’s always nice when some track is finally layed.
  16. Brilliant modelling, I like the way you have captured the grassed areas. The hedges and walls look really good. Look forward to seeing your layout progress.
  17. Hi I have started work on my scratch built loading and unloading platform. This will be built using wood coffee stirrers.
  18. Nice work finding the pictures of cover images and posters.
  19. Hi this will be a small micro layout, the baseboard size is 300x150mm. The layout will be OO gauge and will incorporate an aggregates goods yard area for unloading building materials. The baseboard has been constructed, painted and track has been laid. I will be using a stick for shunting onto my little micro layout. More to follow:
  20. Mike I like your black & white picture really atmospheric.
  21. Nice baseboard construction, it’s great to see that 7mm scale can be used in a small space. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress.
  22. Great modelling Jerry, the crane and loading area look great.
