    I agree and the operators seemed to quite engage with the public and show enthusiasm. As a southern region man particularly enjoyed Bournemouth West and Wimbourne, but other interesting layouts too. Interesting to see the proposals to add to Heaton Lodge on the return circuit, station, marshaling yard and maintenance depot.

    In my experience many organisations use SMS to authenticate access to systems, all they do is send a code you have to type in 9n your screen and it has a limited time validity. I think the authentication I had to do today had around 4 options including SMS, back app, phone call, can,t reader what else. Used the bank app which involved some longish numbers to type in to app and then back into the payment transaction, took a minute or two to do !!!

    I guess everyone cannot do everything and picking a gap is a good way into a market. RAPIDO so far seem to be taking a steady route in , will be interesting to see how it develops with 1+ announcements per month. Remember they have already rattled Hornbys cage this year !

    If you want to stay in the market you have to keep the public aware, normally through exciting new launches, making the public aware you still exist , maintain quality, keep dealers happy so they promote your goods. Numerous examples of companies in the past fallen either by the wayside or down the ranking by ignoring that. Hoover, Nokia, Blackberry for starters. The top ones seem to manage selling direct and keeping retailers happy also giving the punter a choice.

    And if you search the Web for model shops and look at their site you will now find the others, not only Bachmann, Heljan and Dapol but much more widely Rapido and Accurascale. If Hornby keep messing their stockists around it shouldn,t be a surprise if they start promoting the other brands a bit more prominently.

    Not sure most are complaining, just natural when you have projects listed that are not yet announced RM Webbers will have a discussion ? I guess if it gets people talking about Rapido it shows people care and take note. As said above good to have the info clearly summarised,

    Rapido have added a delivery schedule page to their website, includes 10 secret projects !

    Perhaps Hornbys geography is awry and they don't know where towns are actually located in the UK !!

    But I suspect Joe Public only regards Hornby as model railways because when he wants to buy his offspring a present ne sees Hornby in a physical shop whether toy or model shop with some nice sets. If that physical store wasn't there not sure he would search out The Hornby website. Plus you,re not going to hide competitors for long, new entrant in modelling railways will soon find out there are other people making trains and doing what they want.

    These seem to have all disappeared from the Hornby website !

    So they are toys when you want to do something that is close to the line and models when you want an excuse to charge a lot if money and target those with deep pockets !

    It would seem that maybe Hornby have misread the success of the Airfix Vintage Classics and applied the theory to Hornby. But the airfix kits were reasonably accurate if not quite so detailed whereas in trains Hornby have rather moved on in terms of accurate models.

    It all makes me wonder whether Hornby actually has any strategic planning. The Coca Cola I sought of understand to attract the younger people, but to flood the market in one calendar year with specials, film based themes seems a bit excessive, one can only assumet5hey think such collectors have very deep pockets. Would be nice to see Hornby using quality and technology to enhance their market share rather than a lot of gimmicks.

    But Apple, Samsung etc seem to make enough to keep everyone happy , even if the initial batch sells out more follow eventually

    You can always use the trunk service and then arrange delivery when you are ready. I have done this a few times.
