Did you have to? !! Can anyone do a TPE version? Al.
-
TBH, there are plenty of offers if and as one has a good look around. Specifically I was looking at the TPE - Trans Pennine Express - one. This indicates as being at a similar offer price to the other variants, but when looking further, no-one has them in stock - of the 'major sellers'. There do appear to be a couple, in some of the smaller shops we all admittedly LIKE to support when able. In this instance, I am not prepared to pay full price for an item which was regularly at a much-more-reduced price - I don't want it THAT much. This is the modern way, unless disposable income is relatively unlimited - which mine isn't. Al.

I think Mr Hornby should see the price of the original 70's livery 'super detail' HST's .... I would love to build up a set of them, but not at the prices on Ebay ... sorry, that auction site!! (Don't like rubber tyres and love the 8WD versions - I've a Virgin one which is superb!!) Al.

Hi Roy, Haven't got that far, but they certainly did that with the DRS ones, even after they 'corrected' them. Thanks for the heads up. They got back to me with a 'maybe' ... no details. Al.

I've been hunting down this model as well!! Everyone seems to be out of stock or if indicating stock, are doing so at full price. Is that it - production run completed - no more being produced? Will there be any more Dapol Class 68's perhaps under another name in the TPE livery does anyone know? Al.

Torpedo out of water time, ..... !! That Silver Fox body paintwork is a nice, neat job, but for that money .... I would be expecting more and finer detail than that. It looks very '60's era' in quality. Al.

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale

Just bitten the bullet and placed a deposit. What's the latest ETA of the Deltics please? Al. -
It would have been nice to see a non-Railroad Javelin of the Visitor Centre. Thanks for the extra photos of 'the event'. I should have seen the roof detail where the pantograph is - definitely 88 not 68. For today's announcement, I was still hoping for that TPE 802 - 'though I might have been looking at alternative accommodation this weekend had it have been so!! Al.

Which of the MANY MN / BoB / WC preserved pacifics was it - Clan Line? Of the diesels, love the Class 68. Thanks for sharing the photos - must have been an epic day for you. Al.

Is this single bogie powered, with a brace of tyres, and 4WD or centre-motored, shafts and 8WD? Al.

Heart REALLY wanted this one!! Wallet is happy now - until it is eventually announced - peut-etre? !! Al.

Some of the advanced OO projects would be near-perfect additions for the likes of Hornby, Dapol, Bachmann, Heljan ... wouldn't they? Just a thought. If the liquidators are trying to optimise - limit - losses - it would make sense to sell off the IP rights where able as well ... Perhaps as mentioned earlier, yet more Hattons Specials .... Al.

I could tell in my initial communications with him that he's a 'real enthusiast'. Very sorry it's going the way it more-than appears to be, and YES, definitely wish Dave all the best for the future. Al.

Thanks for the thorough reply. Al.

I stopped 'rivet counting' a long time ago - 'very good likeness' is normally acceptable, 'though I can get drawn into discussions on finer details at times .... Strange opening line I know, but having seen photos of the Class 802 in TPE livery BEGS the question if Hornby will be releasing a version of it ... Are there any significant bodywork differences between the GWR 800/0 and this? I think this looks absolutely STUNNING!! Al.

I was going to say the same - I've had no problems with AC Models. Al.

Well, this thread had gone quiet, all waiting for some good news. Must admit, I'm becoming a cup half empty person on this topic. Al.

Is it me, or was the '4472' on the LNER one's cab side misaligned? Probably me - otherwise, looks superb. Al.

What's Game of Thrones? .... OK, I've heard of it but can honestly say I've never seen one episode!! Sinbad was enough in the 60's without another rehash!! Al.

Accurascale Class 55 Deltic - 4mm scale
atom3624 replied to Andy Y's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Hi there. In the blurb describing the Deltic model, it mentions 'capable of a scale 100 mph'. I presume this is with a typical rake of coaches attached, which for a high performing diesel would be 11, or more - is this true? An excellent reference for me is the Super Detail Hornby HST - I have one of the Virgin ones - which can easily pull 9-10 coaches at overscale speeds thus permitting a reduced throttle and scale speeds (HM2000 transformer / controller). Would your model 'only just about touch' the scale speed or comfortably achieve it permitting the operator to scale down, not running at 'full beans'? On the Hornby forum somewhere I calculated that pulling 68'6" coaches, 100 mph is ~2.2 coaches per second - or thereabouts - once, for reference. Al. -
Class 92, By Accurascale

No problem. Sorry for the 'shock' - just that somebody had mentioned the opening roof louvres on a 47!! Al. -
Class 92, By Accurascale
atom3624 replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
For opening louvres / vents on a 47, how about a small heating element on a bi-metallic strip? May need some 'tuning' and would probably not close straight away, but should be very simple, and relatively cheap? Just an idea. Al. -
I recently purchased 'new' on a certain auction site the latest R3677 Duchess of Hamilton ... an absolute beauty, except, mine wasn't ... As I'd already done what I shouldn't, and opened to check over, grease / oil if necessary - it certainly wasn't - if anything it was a little over-oiled - and had started fitting detil, the seller 'politely refused to accept a return - also related to my adding extra weight as I normally do ... It was after I had already performed some 'non-destructive' work I finally decided to do what I should have done right at the beginning, and test it. IT SHORTS OUT. I tried several details - plunger positions to pick-up contacts, blade positions, etc. ... - and NOTHING. Separately powered, the motor was fine. I mentioned this - initially a few times - to Hornby - who after some clarifications, sent a work order and instructed to send to them. I removed the pieces of Pb I had added - only held with 2-sided 3M tape, packaged up, and sent off to them. I received a call from them to confirm they had received it. I received a call from the repairs engineer who went through what I had done, and what they had done, and that he 100% agreed with my observations, had removed a little solder here, added a little insulation there, and that it's now perfect. It returned a couple of weeks later - perfect. THANK YOU Hornby. Just thought I'd share my experience with them. Al.

He'd need a lamp mount that would make him look like a Unicorn - perhaps they're indicating they'll be rare? !! Al.
