  1. Aren’t the ramps used to cross tracks, rather than for converting from road to rail mode? I thought they needed a road level with the rails to convert from one mode to the other - a level crossing would be ideal or in a yard with rail set into hard standing. The older types had a turntable underneath so they could drive up two ramps onto gauge width sleepers placed between the rails. The turntable was then lowered onto the rails between the ramps/sleepers lifting the vehicle which turned through 90 degrees to align with the rail track. Ramps removed, sleepers stowed, turntable raised and away we go. I am sure I have seen a video of the process. Here is a video of one running on the line.
  2. The bumper new range added to the Panzer-shop NL range today is 19 different Trabant 601s featuring in the car, East German military and emergency sections of the website. https://www.panzer-shop.net/c-6449461/cars-busses-vans/?sort_order=descending&sort_method=by_date https://www.panzer-shop.net/c-4967270/east-germany-gdr-nva/?sort_order=descending&sort_method=by_date https://www.panzer-shop.net/c-6452788/emergency-services/?sort_order=descending&sort_method=by_date Trabant 601 Kubelwagen Trabant 601 Kubelwagen, Canvas Trabant 601 Kubelwagen, Canvas, Open Doors Trabant 601 Limousine Trabant 601 Limousine, 1.1L Trabant 601 Limousine, Cabrio Trabant 601 Limousine, NVA Trabant 601 Limousine, Breakdown Trabant 601 Limousine, Polizei Trabant 601 Limousine, Volkspolizei Trabant 601 Pick-Up Trabant 601 Pick-Up, Canvas Trabant 601 Universal Trabant 601 Universal, 1.1L Trabant 601 Universal, 1.1L Ambulance Trabant 601 Universal, Deutsche Post Trabant 601 Universal, Feuerwehr Trabant 601 Universal, Feuerwehr Kleinloschfahrzeug Trabant 601 Universal, Breakdown A total of 30 new releases over a week seems like an impressive achievement. I placed a 1/148 scale order early this week which has been shipped today. I'll be interested in the final print quality.
  3. The overall length is 14 cm, using the wheelsize as a proxy, I'd say it is around 1/50 scale. This page seems to agree. https://www.chezbois.com/corgi/corgi_classics_trucks.htm https://www.chezbois.com/corgi/corgi_modelpages/Ford Cargo Box Van.htm
  4. Due to being on my travels, I had not spotted that Panzer-shop NL have announced that they will be adding new cars to their range everyday this week culminating in a “bumper” number of cars being added on Friday 27 May. Being able to specify which N scale you want your order made in is a real plus. So 1/144 for military/aviation modellers, and 1/148 for British N just needs to be specified in the comments section of the order form. Several of the cars are in TT scale too. The new cars are grouped on the home page each day, and the full range can be seen by choosing the drop down menus for the chosen scale. https://www.panzer-shop.net/ https://www.panzer-shop.net/c-6449461/cars-busses-vans/
  5. Panzer-shop have added a Renault Scenic and a Peugeot 308 to their 1/160 range. They will resize to 1/148 on request noted on the order page. https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903775/pkw-busse-transporter/renault-scenic/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903736/pkw-busse-transporter/peugeot-308/#description Older Ford Focus and Audi A4 models. https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903751/pkw-busse-transporter/ford-focus/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903691/pkw-busse-transporter/audi-a4/#description Later edit: Since yesterday the range has grown by a Renault Clio, Renault 5, VW Lupo, VW Polo and a VW Passat estate. https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903817/pkw-busse-transporter/renault-clio/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903871/pkw-busse-transporter/renault-5/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903796/pkw-busse-transporter/volkswagen-passat/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903721/pkw-busse-transporter/volkswagen-lupo/#description https://www.panzer-shopnl.de/a-72903862/pkw-busse-transporter/volkswagen-polo/#description
  6. The NEM mount does not allow the couplers to move from the centre line of the coach. A bar coupler would not work because of this rigid alignment. A pivoted NEM mount might work but with at least one coach always being pushed, I suspect that the power car would tend to push the preceding coach off the track at bends.

  8. Brewers' drays had that Chinese six wheel arrangement. I always thought the real ones looked odd especially if the TK had the smaller wheels.
  9. 4D model shop does a range of unpainted architectural vehicles in 1/400 as well as a lot of other scales down to 1/2000. Might need my glasses for 1/2000, or make tea with them. 4Dmodelshop - Search
  10. Annie’s email is on this page. http://www.hkmodelco.com/contact.php
  11. @Revolution Mike @Revolution Ben In case you missed the axle post.
  12. This seller appears to have expanded her range. On the French N Forum the complaint is that they mostly scale between 1/144 and 1/150 which would be better for British N. The ones I have are certainly larger than 1/160. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/n-voiture/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  13. I have had an SNCF BB26000 for a couple of months, but I cannot vouch for all the other items with a Q1/2022 release date. Certainly the Swiss EWIV coaches have been delivered and there has been extensive discussion on the N gauge Forum about the re-tooled bogies under these coaches.
  14. In this case, the new liveries have been under development for sometime, so no correspondence at all with the Hornby practice. One of the model paint manufacturers has confirmed on Facebook their involvement in the liveries.
  15. This post refers to clips at the bottom of the cab moulding. So presumably spread or squeeze the cab sides and lift.
  16. In the video there are very prominent paint runs on the nearside cove panels. Strange that they all have the issue. Either a casting issue or image manipulation.
  17. I'll be happy with a Mk1 with twin doors in plain white. I can then add the liveries for the ferry operators at Dover who ran shuttle services between Dover Priory Station (still with refurbished 4CEPs) and the Eastern Docks/Hoverport. Hoverspeed, Sealink/Stena Sealink and P&O European ferries all had fairly simple liveries over a white base. These were East Kent contract buses and East Kent used these pre-owned two doors on the shuttles, as well as single door ones on regular services.
  18. I do not recall this Shapeways seller being highlighted before. Could be some scope for rescaling the Austin 1100/GT for British requirements. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/andras-n-scale
  19. Why not ask Rainbow directly if you really want to know? Can't imagine anyone here will know.
  20. Soon after the NFS was disbanded in 1948 the joint workshops of Kent Fire Brigade and the County Council Ambulance service converted several Austin K2 ATVs to service vans. The high roofed bodies had glazing around the upper walls on all four sides and a full height central hinged door at the rear. The ambulance fleetvan was painted white, and the more numerous Fire Brigade vans were dark green. They turn up in the background of a few workshop and fire station photos.
  21. For reference there is a topic covering the first run of N gauge Class 68s here:- https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/130183-n-gauge-class-68-locomotive/#elControls_3059319_menu
  22. Seaspeed hovercraft had the same reversed logos. Maybe these Dapol DMUs were intended for Boris’s tunnel from Scotland to Northern Ireland, as a quasi-maritime route.
  23. I quite like the idea of different sides on the Fell....two versions for the price of one. I used to run a set of N SNCF Corail coaches which I had made as day coaches on one side and couchettes coaches on the other. I was using my own etched sides to get two trains for the price of one, because the couchettes had half drop windows and the day coaches had windows with top vents. Saved a track in the fiddle yard too. No help to anyone with a different mindset.
  24. David I think the body just unclips from the chassis by spreading the sides slightly. This provides access to the battery for the ones fitted with a tai light,
