  1. Thanks Ray I am Fleetwood Lancashire, I have also had some correspondence off forum and we are thinking along the lines of the power panel which costs about 20 quid to replace so may try this route first as you have noted the powercab seems fine until a loco is involved.I have ordered a new track connection plug which should come tomorrow in case the problem is that simple! Thank you for your help and advice.
  2. I do recall some of the nthusiast resprays fall out and Dave offering to pay out those customers who had not received the models and he claimed to have lost details etc - it’s all so familiar now but it’s so easy with hindsight! It all seemed so genuine and he was trying to put things right so you give the benefit off the doubt. Part of the difficulty now is that other start ups get a harder time and more scrutiny (which may not be a bad thing) but through no fault of their own. Live and learn eh!
  3. Thanks ray have tried another cable with the same result and have also attached a spare rock multimaus to the layout and it works fine. unfortunately dont know anyone with a powercab. I am a solitary creature! Thanks for your help though will look at taking the back off had too much gin in the garden at the moment to try safely Cheers mark
  4. I can’t imagine any of the major mags would run an advert from him or a news story without the line Dave Jones to restart business in railway modelling despite previous business failing and owing a shedload of money! I think more likely if he wanted to get back into the model railway business he would be in the background with someone else as the frontman. Hopefully no one would be daft enough to be that frontman!
  5. Had a look all contacts ok. Took the powercab off the layout and set up on a single piece of track, put a loco on and the trackpower light flashed as if a short circuit or if the power light came on when I tried to apply power the track power light dimmed with no response from loco. Think powercab issue may have to send off for repair to New York!
  6. Thank you I will take a look tomorrow
  7. Hi i have a powercab which has worked brilliantly for me for a number of years. However yesterday I started to have issues. As far as I know and can tell none of the wiring under the layout has been disturbed or moved. When I power up the powercab the power indicator light on the power panel is dulled not its usual brightness. If I unplug the track wiring from the control panel the light illuminates as usual. I have tried to wire up a separate piece of track and with new wire and the light does not illuminate at all which to me rules out the track wiring. Has anyone had this issue - is it a problem with the powercab itself or The power panel or even the small track wiring plug which plugs into the power panel? thanks in advance mark
  8. He said that the competition ran for a few years so their must be other winners somewhere? I never knew Roy Kinnear was a spokesperson for the government either! Could Margaret thatcher have been a secret railway modeller?
  9. Are you suggesting there is more to discover in this particularly sorry tale (lasagne comment) and what was Dave"s reaction to the 'flip'?
  10. Bet you he is reading this thread though!
  11. I saw that you have asked but suspect you won't get an answer but every credit for asking. I was wondering about his tablets he can get an NHS prepayment certificate for I think £30 for 3 months which would cover all his prescription costs for that time. Maybe his partner could pay for it for him I wonder how this has taken its toll on her another innocent victim maybe?
  12. On the issues with the running qualities of the locos like the J94 - is it an issue with the design or because If I remember correctly Dave was insisting on using coreless motors or a combination of the 2? Just curious I don't have any of the locos mentioned.
  13. The final rant and email about model companies patent protecting models and preventing others from duplicating the same model was particularly interesting and it made you wonder about Dave's mental state at the time perhaps he could see the car crash coming at that point and knew he couldn't avoid it.
  14. Well done but just a warning don't know if you run DCC or not but I found mine a real pain to chip! Screws buried deep in the body past the bogies and the body was very reluctant to come off! Good luck.
  15. Recently it seems Hornby and Bachmann have informed the shops when stock is due and the shops have released an email to say what is due shortly to encourage orders. I haven't yet seen one for these models so it could be a couple of weeks still but obviously this isn't a hard and fast rule.
  16. Mine didn't need sharpening -it's never blunt!
  17. Yes where did the money go -why just 10p left- a simbolic number once the rest had been moved elsewhere? A bad taste joke on his part?
  18. Thanks for posting up was trying but failing!
  19. I think the rights were for the king and shark that KR models are taking on. The Accurascale 92 and Hornby APT are all newly tooled models and owe nothing to the djm versions according to the respective model threads.
  20. I struggled to log in then it just seemed to be ok but all it gave me was the option to put in my email and the document was emailed across so if you cannot open maybe email the liquidators although they may not appreciate 178 emails requesting the same thing all at once.
  21. Had a quick read of the document if I read correctly the liquidators had £174000 worth of claims but Dave only had 10p in his bank account! Although it also looks like they received £2300 for his cad work for 2 models and £4000 from somewhere ? Dave himself. Expensive scam party that for the apt (yes the spelling is correct)!
  22. Blackpool prom was the same and I have seen footage of people climbing over turnstiles to get into public toilets to avoid paying 30p! Difficulty is if the R rate goes up we won't know for 2 weeks giving these people 2 weeks to act irresponsibly and spread the virus or litter whichever applies!
  23. Thanks ordered the back copy and they sent the wrong issue, have contacted and sorted out but I did notice in the issue they sent in error of traction (may/ June) that Andy seems to be responsible for all of the modelling content reviews- layout photos the lot - he does get about a bit doesn't he!
  24. I have returned mine for a refund but was considering an EWS one and was going to ask if they can test before despatched but based on the experience above I am going to wait until the second batch is announced (assuming there is an ews model in there) and then hopefully this axlebox issue will have been addressed and sorted. Worth noting though although mine eventually went back the customer service from hattons was its usual high standard so definitely no complaints there? mark
