  1. I thought I would start a layout thread so you could get your own back and be critical of my efforts! Not a work in progress as we have the house up for sale and so progress has stopped don’t see the point of continuing if it is going to be ripped up the baseboards not being transferable! It is set in the fylde coast and although I have stock for almost any time period from the late sixties onward I prefer the sectorisation period and at some point I will sell my out of period stock and concentrate on this era. I really wanted an out and back with loco changes but I then couldn’t justify my wagon fleet. Hopefully I can upload a series of pics to show the chaos I have constructed. There is no great skill just an accumulation of bits put together in a fashion!
  2. Could it have been the Preston to Blackpool north leg from Euston?
  3. Saw your concerns about posting your layout in the help thread then popped across to look. Your layout looks awesome, loving the catenary and the traverser! I am in the same boat as you regarding whether to post a layout thread or not but mine looks nowhere near as good or as professional as yours! Well done it looks brilliant
  4. I also noticed the apt isn’t in the new catalogue but items from the 2020 range still awaited are. It may have been omitted due to space but I seem to remember other manufacturers probably including Hornby don’t include some items which are awaited if the production run is sold out (or near to selling out) to avoid disappointment which if that is the case with the apt it’s very promising. Or I could be talking rubbish as usual!
  5. I honestly don’t know if it is a big issue but didn’t want anyone to get in bother
  6. Not sure if you can repost pictures (of the picture) would it be copyright infringement? I am sure Hornby will update their website in due course. (may be ok if you quote the source thinking about it but Hornby would probably rather you bought the catalogue!
  7. So you could wear one when visiting a shop -although I do recognise your comments were more regarding the way you were asked rather than what you were asked.
  8. It’s a really difficult one but I guess the staff have to consider themselves and other customers too. How do they ( and the customer refusing to wear a mask) know if they are a non= symptomatic carrier or not Widnes model centre haven’t disclosed if they have (and they shouldn’t by the way) if they have any medical conditions which COVID could exacerbate so maybe there is a reason they are being extra careful. Coupled with the fact it’s not a product essential to life like food they are entitled to refuse entry to anyone they choose. Equally I would be upset about having my honesty and integrity questioned but as pointed out so many people have flaunted the rules it’s hard to pick out the genuine cases. Its a great little shop and I have always had great service it’s up to you but maybe when all this is over you go back and give them another try and change your perception you could be missing out! As an aside I have had COVID as far as I can recall I have not been anywhere near anyone with obvious symptoms so it’s a mystery where it came from- maybe a non symptomatic carrier? mark
  9. Was watching the signal box announcement on utube which seemed to skip over the d&e stuff which was a shame as there is some really nice stuff in here! Both class 87’s for me I think and I may get the key worker 66!
  10. So you want us to start a new thread for the mk3’s? !!!
  11. Just received my class 45 well packaged from Widnes model centre apparently they even braved an epic queue at the post office to get it out to me. Great service as always and recommended! thanks again guys cheers mark
  12. Just a heads up that hattons have limited numbers now of these units at £195 should anyone be looking to get a bargain one. mark

    2021 hopes

Well the majority of my preorders with Hornby have been pushed back to 2021 approx 10 items I can only gauge from what I know and have experience of.

    2021 hopes

Considering so much has been pushed back to 2021 particularly due to the pandemic - will Hornby have much capacity to announce much new stuff- will there be enough production slots. I know probably Hornby know the answer to this and we may get an insight on the launch date. As much as I would like new stuff to be announced I have so much from Hornby and accurascale due next year I think I would prefer for it to be a nothing for me year! Yes I know I could exercise self control and not buy whatever it is but where is the fun in that and shiny things make me happy!!! Mark
  15. Been trying to figure out what it’s for which took me far longer than it should and is it to hold a wine bottle? I have checked you won’t have my address! Bottoms up!
  16. It’s got to be the Albert Finney version of a Christmas carol more a musical really but I remember my mum watching it all those years ago when I was a kid and it always stirs memories and feelings when I watch it. Have it on dvd and it’s a must see every year,
  17. I watched the collectors club videos the other day and it looks like plux22 as they showed the instructions leaflet.
  18. Looks lovely must be on the boat am very excited to see these nearly here!
  19. I knew you would have noted and as I said it’s probably an easy fix but just out of interest do you only have 1 sample -how do you determine how a rake would function or can you glean that information just running with stock from any other manufacturer? Edit just seen the Facebook post where it shows a rake of 2 so question answered thanks!
  20. I would think they would be easy fixes hopefully not needing tooling changes.
  21. I would like to see how a rake of these copes on curves the couplings don’t look long enough and there could be buffer locking! I am sure that’s an easy fix for KR models following I am sure almost destructive testing of the sample to make sure all is correct. We seem to have got to engineering sample from announcement very quickly which is good to see too.

    2021 hopes

Rails and accurascale have really dragged their feet over confirming the class 89 which is why I expect an announcement from Hornby. Likely Rails got wind of Hornby’s intentions. Or if Hornby don’t announce one we will see the rails one confirmed soon after.
  23. Got my grain flow 37068 out of the attic and took it apart. Chassis block looks ok apart from this bit. Unsure if a symptom of rot or not. Model has been stored in the attic with the usual variance of temperature.
  24. Yes Palatine model shop was opposite funny girls/ the odeon whereas the secondhand one was further down approx 200 yards give or take.
  25. That’s right because it used to be on palatine road. The guy who had it at the end was called Lance but his dad had it before him so perhaps he was Dave.
