  1. I remember rmweb being born on the BRM forum and we have ironically come full circle. I joined as reevesthecat (we had a cat called reeves) and kept this name until the latest update. I visit daily and as a lone modeller this has been a place of inspiration and advice but has also cost me a load of cash with the bargain hunters threads over the years. The forum has pointed out faults on models I was never aware of and still discovered I wasn't bothered with most of them. I donated when the forum needed money to keep going and missed it when we had the long down times, I have been amazed to see some of the spats and fallouts but have been amused to see previous members who flounced off return with a new name (they usually give themselves away)! Manufacturers have been born and announced on this forum and it's hard for me to think of the hobby without this forum although I realise others will have a different perspective. I can't imagine how much time all this has cost Andy and if it was me and my wife I would be divorced by now! So here is to another 15 years! cheers mark

  3. They have had more than a 'few' back I sent back 5! I would expect Bachmann to play down the issue though. The proof the fault is fixed will be when we get a new batch without this known fault. Mark
  4. My idea is you should announce this weekend anyway to cheer us up in these troubled times!
  5. I had the same issue sent to Bachmann received back with same fault and then it came back again repaired. To be fair Bachmann service centre were mortified and offered to send me the video of the loco repaired and running on the service track prior to despatch back to me. Been fine ever since. Definitely a design problem somewhere.
  6. I am told our local a&e hasn't breached its 4 hour target for the last week indicating patients are no longer going in the numbers they were. There have been no social media posts from the hospital asking people not to attend which there were almost daily a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully this behaviour change will stick when the crisis is over meaning patients will be less likely to rock up at a&e in the future and be more willing to self care or use other community based services.
  7. I am guessing you never received my messages sent by carrier pigeon either then?
  8. The bogies on mine were the same either an assembly problem or a heavy shunt en route either way easily fixed and relocated the wheels in the bogies no problems since.

    New Hornby Rocket

Does anyone know which decoder will fit ,had a lais DCC one but way too big thanks in advance mark
  10. Went today with my brothers and spent about 5 hours at the show, spent too much of course but loved it loads of modern image which is my favoured era. Loved the apt on Alderford (and the electrics, catenary and era)!!!!
  11. Went to Preston show today and saw the apt (old Hornby version) on Alderford certainly wetted the appetite for this one!
  12. If we are wishlisting liveries how about 87101 in railfreight distribution would be top of my list.
  13. Did have a quick press nothing obvious but have now got the 'proper' Bachmann one so going to swap anyway
  14. Isn't that the point of the 3 month announcement cycle to avoid the string of broken promises? I am interested to see how the new system performs as it's still early days but clearly leaving things as they were wasn't an option.
  15. Not been able to check functions till now F0 head/tail lights illuminated F1 head lights off/ tail on F2 tail lights off headlights on F3 interior lighting on F4 trailing cab lights F5 nothing F6 nothing hope this helps mark
  16. Yes I used the lais DCC one which works fine.
  17. I think the series is improving and while I realise it's a none starfleet mission I would have liked to have seen some star ships but there seems to be none I guess they are all searching for strange new worlds or something! I guess such scenes would not have added to the story and pushed up the budget.
  18. I think my earliest memory is seeing the big yellow face of the dmu pulling into the platform at Warrington central to take us to oxford road Manchester where we would get off and catch the bus to see my gran at blackley. This was the 1970's and have no idea what class of dmu it was ?108 ?115 but I recall the all over blue Livery. we didn't have a car and usually the may bank holiday week we would get a railway runabout ticket with a daily trip on the train usually Liverpool, Windermere, Blackpool, southport, Rhyl, Llandudno or Manchester and it was a daily trip to bank quay or central to catch the train, my dad would cycle to the station to save bus fare. We were on the bus with mum she couldn't ride a bike! Happy days.
  19. According to the info posted in quite a few of the Bachmann 2020 threads the first one is due in April (I think the green one). thanks mark
  20. I guess eventually this page will vanish once all the models currently listed at various development stages have been released.
  21. Always had good service from Bachmann service centre definitely recommended.
  22. According to the collectors club mag they are at Livery artwork stage but I guess we now may not know when they are due until they appear in the 3 monthly announcement.
  23. Have watched both episodes and got bored by the droning on of Picards aid trying to explain something I couldn't get to grips with but having said that I will stick with it and watch it develop. I enjoyed both series of discovery and the second one just got better and better so really looking forward to the 3rd series.

    New Hornby Rocket

So going off topic a bit but in 1830 what was a rocket. To me the name conjures up images af apollo 11 and fireworks and stuff but back then this stuff wasn't about so what was the engine named after ,what image did the name conjure up for the 1830's population?
