  17. I've done a series of Lack-based layouts (see links in sig). All mine use the 110cm Lack as it comes - i lay 2mm eva foam down to form the trackbed, with channels cut for simple wire-in-tube point control through the front fascia of the ply display box I glue & pin around the Lack. This includes the integral lighting rig. Battens glued/pinned underneath in a V-shape at either end allow the fitting of folding ply risers to bring rail height up to about 4ft/1.2m on a standard trestle table. I operate seated and from the front. Recently, I've helped a friend add Lack fiddles to his Lack layout - there's enough 'meat' in the sides and ends to take pattern-makers dowels for alignment and over-centre catches either side to join multiple Lacks together. Another friend cuts away much of the underside and removes the card core to allow wiring runs, point motors, etc. The crossmembers (where the bracket slides on) are sufficient to maintain the structural integrity of the Lack.
  18. While not TT:120, I have powered a Lincoln Locos shell in H0 using a Roco DB V90/Br290 - the bogie wheelbase is a very close match to the fairly common 8'6" of many UK Bo-Bo diesels and DMUs. I used a single bogie in a chassis frame scratchbuilt in 60-thou plasticard, with a spare motor and a drive shaft from Branchline Models. So a V90 is definitely one to look out for, Piko do one in TT
  19. Prieser already cover 1:120 in their range, both bulk unpainted and subject-specific painted, though. I've had 2 bulk unpainted packs, the general one (#75100) and the seated one (#75101). The general one includes a variety of standing passengers, plus staiton staff, along with a few seated - 72 figures in total for about £15. The seated one contains less (around 40 rings a bell) for about £10, but still useful for populating passenger stock.
  20. I'm assuming he's 'burning' the video files to DVD-R himself, rather than using a commercial tranfer company, so provided your dvd player can play DVD-Rs, you should be ok. Region-locked commercial DVDs would need your dvd player to be unlocked - usually done via a sequence of key presses on the remote - google your dvd player's make/model + region free, someone is bound to gave done it.
  21. Having been exempt for a time due to previous employment in the Lord Chancellor's Department 1986 to 1989 (Court of Appeal, Criminal Division, so I was fairly familiar with court proceedings, albeit 25+ years out of date), they eventually caught up with me about 5 or 6 years ago for 2 weeks at Reading Crown Court. Week 1 was sat around waiting to for a case, with at least 1 day released early (lunchtime) and another not required to attend at all. Got through a book or two, doodled and planned some layouts. Phones only allowed in the jury rest area and definitely not allowed 'upstairs' in the court or deliberating room (lockers being provided). We were then assigned a case on the Tuesday of week 2. About half the charges were dropped at the Judges direction on the 1st day, then we heard evidence that and the following day, before deliberating on the Thursday and came to unanimous verdicts. A reluctance among my fellow jurors meant I ended up being foreman, so had to announce our verdicts (not guilty on all counts) in court. It was an interesting experience, especially as the general consensus on seeing the indictment initially pretty much all were thinking 'guilty', but as the evidence was laid out and witness testimony heard, it created enough reasonable doubt that N-G was the correct decision. It certainly could have been worse - at the same time another jury was into week 7 or 8 of a long and complex fraud trial...
  22. A slightly improved version is also available from Kühn (#74900) - these have an additional small whisker on the underside of the coupling head which helps guide things home where there's a slight difference in height. Kühn sells these heads in packs of 24 for around 20 Euros, they clip straight into the NEM socket. For my Czech TT layout, I've made a double-ended shunting pole with a small magnet at one end and a flat plate at the other. Most times i use the magnet from above to lift the hooks, only occasionally will I use the plate to lift them from below. The TT NEM pocket will also accept the Dapol N gauge 'Easi-Fit' magnetic buckeye-type coupler, which comes in 3 lengths. TT wheelsets can be had in various diameters - I used to get mine direct from the likes of SDV Model or ES Pecky in Czechia, though equally available though some German retailers. And Golden Valley Hobbies here in the UK have stocks of the Tillig 8mm TT wheelsets https://www.goldenvalleyhobbies.com/tillig-08819-8mm-metal-wheel-set
  23. Not just Piko and Tillig, but also Kühn, MTB and a thriving cottage industry in Czechia supporting TT. Across the former Eastern bloc, I think TT is 2nd only to H0 in popularity and that market even supports duplicates of some loco and stock types.
  24. I had a TT Ceske Drahy 742 diesel and a couple of packs of Tillig and Kühn couplers from Elwira.de earlier this year, German VAT taken off at point of sale and 20% UK VAT applied once it hit these shores (plus the inevitable handling fee from DPS). It was easier pro-Brexit, sadly a number of the excellent small Czech manufacturers will no longer ship to the UK, indeed even Elwira are no longer accepting new accounts from the UK (but are, for the moment at least, allowing existing UK accounts to order)
  25. The answer might be found in the axle-hung motors from Japan, which are easily back-driven and have little rolling resistance? https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/m/10260566
