  1. It's actually put me off from reading much rmweb. I've heard of rivet counters who have something to reference whilst conducting unhealthy amounts of obsessive criticism but I've never seen people so desperate to yuk people's yum by dictating how a spurious item should be constructed with arguments over authenticity!!! I'm more aghast than amused. as the kids say, step away, go outside, touch grass.
  2. Quick update, just received the parts today so the mail is slow but stuff is defiantly being sent out.
  3. Not yet, but I'm sure Rapido will keep us informed of the situation.
  4. Last time it was hinted at was Loconotion Models approaching Dapol to produce one back in 2008. That gives some idea as to how extremely rare and difficult it is to get such prototypes in RTR form if you're unable to build or purchase a kit out of difficulty rarity etc. It's why I payed up front for the kernow beattie well tanks and the bulleid diesels back in the day. It was vital to produce confidence in these commission projects so more people would venture into providing us with more sort after models and now we have the likes of Accurascale, Rapido, The National Railway Museum etc literally making the unthinkable happen like j70's instead of relying on the whims of Hornby and Bachmann to never touch such subjects. So again I'm putting my money down on my desired prototypes even in risky situations because as some people have mentioned what other chances are there? Even so I don't disparage the criticisms and observations but people emotionally invested do tend to jump into more toxicity than constructive statements so I'm hoping people's persistence in the negativity doesn't push into self fulfilling proffacies. I'd much rather do a hack job myself to improve a cheap and cheerful model than to see businesses failing and no models made at all.
  5. Hoping for something a little more unusual for the spectacle, as great and needed as the S15 is an H15 Chonker (or chonky boy for the meme potential) would be far more of an eye catcher. Then again you could say that for a T14, either is fine by me!
  6. You can see the difference with the dark grey being the old EP and the light gray being the new EP. Model is looking improved but we'll see if the cab or "face" will get those curves and windows scaling spot on or not.
  7. Thank you everyone for bringing your knowledge to the table, looks like I have my work cut out for me, this has been very helpful. To answer some queries: The layout is being converted from DC so many more dropper feeds will be installed, taking note of the new isolation sections. The shortest loop should hold a 7 coach train so there's no danger of the trains being too long. Again thanks for you time and effort, most appreciated!
  8. This DCC plan is a part of a space saving set of storage sidings of the layout made for a train to enter and then return to the scenery part on either line or be placed in a siding and a new train to head out. However in making it flexible for a train to enter and depart on either line as necessary it has brought up the complication of where to put the isolated sections in the track, what parts should be the separate loops, where the power supply should be (currently situated where the red and black dots are) and where the auto reverse units should be placed. I currently have one Gaugemaster DCC40 prodigy AR unit but I’m thinking maybe a second one is necessary? If it helps the track being used is OO peco setrack insulfrog code 100. I'll be most grateful for any advice/expertise on the matter.
  9. Excited for these in the future but as I've started to research I've seen Geest and Fyffes aren't the only designs these wagons had. I'm wondering if anyone has further information or recognizes what this van has? It seems to read "Producers' Bananas" but I'm not sure or familiar enough to tell what banana company that is or what logo they had exactly. Source is Peter on Flickr
