  1. I’m going to sound like a complete numpty now but how was it operated? I’m guessing that lever by the cab door was operated by the second man?
  2. Cowboys is one of the politer words I’ve heard regarding those at 10A,
  3. I’d say that there’s something in most locomotives are hand built and they all have little quirks and foibles? I have a friend who’s a driver who many years ago preferred a certain Class 50 over another on the Heritage Railway he drove at, I must admit they did sound a little different. I do wonder if there’s a bit of a ‘Friday afternoon’ element in construction, then how much care and attention something gets during construction followed up with the care and attention maintenance staff look after their Machines at certain depots? I can imagine something like say 33008 or 47145 at Eastleigh and Tinsley had a little more care lavished on them unlike their class mates allocated to the same depots.
  4. When your trying to watch it with the sound on and your missus is banging on the ceiling from upstairs and asking to ‘turn that bloody racket down’ then would you not agree it’s a little annoying? 😜 I mean I can’t hear anything with the boss banging on the ceiling… 😀
  5. Interesting, but I wouldn’t call it spectacular, It’s certainly not as exciting as something like 46009 and it’s stage managed smack.
  6. The Res 47’s allocated to Crewe in the mid 1990’s didn’t exactly follow a a naming theme did they? Apart from beginning with R, E and S? It was someone basically going through the dictionary, with the odd exception 😜
  7. They were replacements for the 0-4-4 tanks, on the Dornoch branch? think they were shedded at Helmsdale? 🧐
  8. Someone my Dad knows has about 70 odd 50’s I remember having a chat with him over the phone about and Dad said ‘how do you some it up in one word Matt?’ ‘Dedication’ was my reply 😜😀
  9. Said friend of friend also has various models of the Class 20 he used to part own too.
  10. A friend of a friend has modelled all the 37/4’s in ‘00’ I know it’s not a whole class but it’s a whole sub class.
  11. Am I allowed to say this is modelling in 1:1 scale? 😀 This is bloody impressive I have to say.
  12. Bert Stewart says in his book he was given 2 tickets to watch England V Scotland at Hampden Park, so rather than rest up him and his mate went to the footy.
  13. Why am I thinking of this man and ‘let’s have a look at what you could have won?’
  14. Both 800 hundreds have benefited from 818’s demise from what I’ve been told so I suppose in someways it still lives on 😀
  15. 832 wasn’t preserved at the time though and with what happened to 818 as well, there were no guarantees at the time.
  16. But then we wouldn’t have ended up with 821 though then would we?
  17. Not a Thousand that would have been preserved but I have it on good authority that a certain group that own hydraulics (and a class 17) wanted to take on ‘Falcon’ when BR wanted rid of it.
