  1. I think the middel coaches will be avaible after the model hits the shelfs. As when I was looking after my pre order was cancelled. lots of places had middle coaches avaible but no 7 or 5 car sets .
  2. You quoted my post , then in your reply you mentioned threats. I never mention or insinuated threats. The only persion to mention Threats is you. As this Form thread is 36 pages long and growing fast all about people not happy with Hornby . I can see a lot of un happy people about Hornby policy of cutting stock . It is also logical to think that people will be speaking to Hornby Staff at shows in a non positive maner. Talking about there dissatisfaction with Hornby and the problems with getting Hornby stock. That is what I meant about flack, I agree with you there is no need for threats etc.
  3. Would not like to be a staff member working on the Hornby stand at the Next show they attend. I bet they will get some flack .
  4. from the APT face book page.
  5. Hi In a post there was a Photo showing interior lighting. I am guessing for DCC we will need a Function decoder in each DTS and a Drive or sound decoder in the NDM. For controling the lights in the TS, TRBS,TU,TF. Would it be a Function decoder in each Coach or each pair of coaches ?
  6. To all thoese who have had the pre order cancelled. All I can say is. I had mine cancelled and I looked on the net and rang around. Found a shop that still had a few. If a shop on the net say out of stock that is not all ways the case. A quick phone call can result in yes, have one left. Some shops like to have a buffer zone so show out of stock. There are still 5 and 7 car set out there just need a bit of time tracking them down. Loads of middle cars. I would seam there will be a situation were shops have the TU,TF,TS TRBS,NDN but no 7 or 5 car set. Be intresting in seeing how they will sell them. John
  7. Just had a look . They are sold out of the 7 car set . Looks like they have the 5 car set. John
  8. I had mine cancelled. I had ordered a 7 car set and all the coaches, 15 in total . I then cancelled the rest. I only want to get the whole lot as one package. Phoned several shops. All sold out. Most shop keepers were saying they are hoping there going to get there full alaction. Also it hurts them to have to turn down £780 order. The longer Hornby do not make any stament the more people will make there own mind up. I find it odd that this has sold out before it hits the shelf. This does the hobby no favors. The APT has all ways polled high in the wish list. There is all the Data on the DJM version , Ebay prices were high on the old 1980s version. Given that , You would have though they would have made this one in extra large numbers. May be they did we will never know. John
  9. Thank you for the information. I have been to Eurospoor many times. Always a great show. I love the Market place you have down the back. I had been hoping to go. Was waiting till the last min before making any travel plans. I hope 2021 will be Great and look foward to it. John
  10. Hi PaulRhb on my garden railway there are gradients. So I need two powered NDMs. I would be looking at the black front. This means I have to buy stuff I dont want. I get the whole APT-U . Stick in in a set so they make the numbers. As I dont think it would break even if it was sold on its own. I will wait till testing has been done before ordering anything. John
  11. I though start with the 5 car set then build up offerd better value for money, if you did not want the APT-U car. This meant you had to have yellow ends. To get a 14 car set with black ends you have to start with the 7 car set. If you dont want the apt-u. You end up ditching a un powered NDM and an APT-U. This makes it more expensive than the 5 car set. I guess Hornby have done it this way to make the most money . John
  12. Hello Here an Idea. Instead of using a hex bolt use an allen bolt. The head is round like the bearing. A 3D printed cover could be made and pushed on with a pin on the back that squisses in to the allen bolt. john
  13. The figger quoted may be larger. dave jones has never hand over any deatilas of people who payed deposits . There are people who nevr knew he went under . There are people who never lodged a claim. When the liquideaters found out from Rm web about all the people that had paid deposists they ask dave for deatils which he never passed on. The true figger of the money owed will never be know due to the questionable pratices of DJ models. Sadley a lot of people have lost money and he done a lot of damage to the model railway world john
  14. may be so . But the problem was. There was no computerised mixing. So paints varried in shades, some quite abit. So the standeres of thats day were not what we would use today. So While there may have been a Paint called beech brown number 490. That does not mean GT3 if painted in beech brown 490 would be the same shade. They did not have the technology in that day. But the flp side is they did not have accurate photos so no one can dissprove it being the wrong shade .
  15. Any records you find wont help. When the Loco was painted it was before RAL or BS colours were in . GWR locos, used to vary in shade depending on shed they were painted at due to the way paint was mixed back then. Any old photos wont be a true colour due to the way flim was processed back then . Short of find a paint flake there no real hope of finding the correct shade. I know this I and re-seraching the paint of several boats, and in diffrent photos it would seam the colour changed but its the light. Then it depens what moniter you are looking at the photo on as that will have an effect. There will all ways be some one saying its to dark or to light LOL. As some one who got a loco on order ,Thanks for ask us . I trust KR models to diliver a loco that looks correct. John
  16. Hi WestRail642Fan Yes and No . I looked at this for an unpowered ROCO loco many year ago. I am guessing the same problem would apply to day, as we do not know how the inside of the unmotored NDM is. You most probly will need the following items. Motor, shafts, all the gears from the Gear towers. Possible the sides from the gear towers. Given the NDM does not have lights . You would need pickups and PCB as well. Then may be some other items on the service sheet. Yes you can try an get all of thoes parts . Lets say you order them and a gear is not avaible . Your left with a load of parts that you can use. This is what I found with the ROCO loco. Your relying on getting a Lots of parts. Its not garanteed you will get them all. Its a risk an expense if it does not work. Then there is the Cost. To buy a loco in compont form is more expensive than buying a loco. You might find it cheaper easier and less hassel to buy a Powered NDM and sell you unpowered NDM. When the model becomes avaible the answer I have given might change with new information avaible. John
  17. he has not let any one know he went out of buiness . He not passed on details to liquidation company so that can not contact people. To this day they still dont know 100% of people he ows money to. They did prase the work of this forum as thats help them alot. The Liquidation company has asked him several times for details and he not coperated. Is that the sine of an honest buisness man or some one trying to screw people. There will be people still out there that are non the wiser about what happened to there payments . Had he notifed people I would have fallen in the 120 day given by the bank. So I stand by my orignal comment and he can take me to court if he want to .
  18. need some advice. I been trying to get my money back £248.99. paid with a visa debit card.Bank said sorry ,can not help as over 120days old. As it was a LTD company can take the crook David Jones to court. I spoke again with the liquidator. To this day they still not recived a list of customers from David jones . That sound very odd and like DJ is trying to hid some thing. I will be very lucky if I get any thing back from the Liquidators. Dose any one have any ideas or is time to say good by to the money . John
  19. Hi Pete I thought the same. Regardless weather its a black or yellow front end. They will require a minuim amout of pushing power for a 14 car set. I would be nice for Hornby to say. How many moterised power cars are required for a 14 car formation, one or two. I have noticed on there web site you can only get the un moterised power car in the 7 car set. So for Hornby to make the digram for the 5 car set they would have had to use a second moterised power as they dont sell the unmoterised unit on its own. Which then begs the question. Should they have sold the single power car unmoterised or put in a second moterised power car in the 7 car set. Ok it will up the price a bit but not that much . John
  20. Regardless of wether Hornby use an exernal company or not. Hornby provied the material and the content. They would previewed the website before it went live, after all its there brand nmae on it. Note there website is not just for information but has an e shope as well. Its like shopping on line see a photo of an apple and get orange. regardless of who runs it there is no exceuss for incorrect content on there website. Also another way to look at it. Which is correct item to the part number the photo or the discription? It shows poor customer care.
  21. Pete I full agree with you. In this day and age there is no reasion why a big company like Hornby can not have a good website. My main grip is once you get to the APT section ,top tip dont search for APT but search for class 370 . Is wrong photos. They have a power car photo for a coach. They went to Crew to get info from the real train. You would think they could at least have the correct photo for the item. Is it that hard for them to but in a discription of what you are going to get in the 5 and 7 car sets . It would apear it is . john
  22. I have been following the thread since day one. Lots of great info. Given a 14 car train 12 coaches. I would say 2 power cars are required. What I find Poor of Hornby is there crap website. No were on there website does it show what you get ,liverys coaches etc. It great some people on here have been able to get the info and share it. They should not have to as Hornby should be providing it on a clear to read website . Now to hear from the UK second biggest model shop that some itemes in the APT range are possible in short supply. I was hoping to go to Ali Pally show and speak to Hornby possible see some samples. Then place an order. Hornby need to up there game . A non limited edition model should not be going in to short supply this early on. All that will do is give them a bad name . john
  23. I want to check some thing on KR model web site . I keep getting we'll be open real soon. been like that since I tried yesterday. Any one eles get the same prolem ? Thanks john
