  1. To be honest I dont know. There were two EP on the table one in a case and one out. The one out they would allow people to handel etc so it was never coupled to the tender. Given the rest of the quality of the loco I would think it will be able to handle a good load on the end of the tender. John
  2. To day I ordered a sound version. Every Time I passed the KR Models stand it was packed. When it was first anonced I was not sure. But affter seeing the model to day i was convinced this will be a great model. For thoes who are still thinking. All I can say is I am glad that I have ordered. Seeing the model sold it. On great idea I saw on the model is the way the eletrical conection is made between the loco and the tender. Very nice idea . Also the way they are going todo the lights. You lift or lower the disks to select which lights you want on John
  3. As the owner of several turbines locos with sound. I can say this is one of the best. The spool up was very nice and the turbine not to over powering. There was brake squeal, whistle two diffrent ones i think ,buffer clank and guards whislte. I would say worth the money .
  4. Hi If you go to the Legoman biffo stand . You can ask to hear the Gt3 sound . they have it in a rail car. I listened to it. I was very impressed. Really good sound and not to over powering . John
  5. On KR Facebook page it say: The GT3 EP samples have arrived ready for Warley!!! looking foward to seeing it and how it runs . John
  6. Hi Bernard You quote: This is his only known source of revenue. If you go on the 3rd page of the GT3 you will see some one posted he worked for a trucking company. I dont know if he still does or not. At the Time GT3 was anounced it would appear he did. That would be his man source of revenue . Regards John
  7. Ok 1000 does not change what I was getting at. Has KR models ever quoted that Figgure ?
  8. Go start at the beginning of were I posted not half way through. I was making a reply to Stans post were he quoted me. You need to read a whole conversation from the start to get in context . Ok forums make that hard . You will find I was surjesting KR models sell them . It was Stan who said:I guess you could always back your theory and order half a dozen yourself and sell them on eBay. My reply was based on If I was in the position of Keith I would . As I am not I cant . The numbers I was using would be based on KR cost.
  9. At no one point Have I said KR should sell to me . So I can see why you have quoted what I posted .
  10. you have missed read what I am trying to get at. R&D ,Tooling, Shipping all paied for by Crowdfund. The extra 100 would be add to the run. So if KR has say 2000 orders it would be 2100. Motors gears castings etc all would be part of the bulk order. Thous the only cost would be materiales and labour. I did guess at £50 but it deffently will not be 3 figgures. £185-VAT =£154.17. That has to cover R&D,Tooling,Manufacturing,Painting,Materiales,Shipping from China and profit. Given it was a 3 payment plan I think £50 will not be far off the mark . John
  11. Stan Truffy answred it perfectly. There is a very big diffrence between cost of building the Loco and RRP. Kieth has Cost. You get me 100 GT3 at cost price and that must be shown, with free shipping from China and I will happly sell them on Ebay. I would guess £50 a loco X100= £5K+ Vat £1K There are a lot of undecided people on here and eles were. So RRP £185 X100 = £18500 - £6000 = £12500 min. Lets say just a small bit of the ebay madness we have all seen. You know the How much did that sell for! happens. I have seen Items sell for 4 fold of new prices that are not avaible .So average £200 a Loco we are now at £14000. Of course ebay fees etc . I do realise I have simplefied this a bit . I will not be far off. John
  12. I asked that question at the GET show. was told No. When the book is closed there will be a few extra for warrenty issues and thats it. I surggested they could be sold at a higher price so the buyer would have no risk . That was a No. They did say they will auction off the protypes and test models . Not sure what that will entail and when that will happen . If I was him . Make an extra 100 say . Real cost nothing as tooling and shipping is covered. Then sell them on Ebay. If the model is as good as he says well they should go way above RRP. How amny people would love to have an APT E to stick on Ebay . John
  13. saying that Heljan's Lion and Kesteral prototype loco's had several run . While I dont know what each run was. I would have thought they would have been in tripel numbers. From my own experance there has all ways been a keen appetite for odd ball prototype Locos. I think 4000 is bit high. If a main stream manufactor had anounced GT3 we would have seen severl thousand sold. But I dont think 4000. John
  14. Would have been nice to see the APT in there . May be next year John
  15. This was talked about in the first few pages of this thread and was never answered . I was told the models will come from China direct to the Uk. A faulty loco only has to be sent back to the UK. The company is registered in Canada . Also KR models does use a UK web domaine not a Canadian one . So I think it is a fair question to ask does the UK remote sell act apply here. I wish I knew the answer . May be KR models will lets us know if he has to go by the UK remote selling act John
  16. First time going . Though it was a good show. Had some great layouts and a good selection of trade support. Ok some gaps in the trade support. On thing I noticed was the walk ways were very narrow. And very quickly you got a crowd situation were people are trying to get through. You take a show like Alli Pally much wider walk ways and no crush so you feel more realaxed . Which gives people a better show experance . Over all I was pleased . John
  17. I belive it was the body shell test print. I must say it was very nice . John
  18. I too have read that KR models hope to have an EP of GT3 at the great eletric trains show. I think he has miss a trick here .Given every thing thats been happing with crowdfunding . He said once production has started the books closed . I Think production is just about to start. So If any one see the EP of GT3 at the Great eletric train show they can not order one. Had he held the book open till say a week after Warley . The delay would have been small and possibly he might have got a lot more orders. John
  19. I have read this topic on here. Some really good points. Is It Viable ,well theres a question. Look at what been done in the past on odd ball locos . They have all sold and broken even and some have had several re runs . Yes I take the point that they are a loco on its own and now a full train. Then we have the second hand market were the price of APT keeps on going up . Yes there is the saying supply and demand. Supply is ok I would not say limited. Demand must be high . I think the biggest deciding factor would be the RRP. That would depend on the spec. All singing and dancing it would push the price up. The APT keeps on apearing on Hornbys wish list. A few points I have been thinking about since DJM went bust. Couplings and bogie detail. Take the articulated bogie. The old Hornby coupling has a very strong postive lock to it. Which is need as the bogie has to be come a single unit. If these bogies were super detailed ,all the pipes etc . I think you would be for ever breaking parts. The coupling between the power car and brake is good. So the Hornby designe would be a good starting place. Tilting Hornby approch to it was good and works. Ok DJM was looking at servo route. This to me adds massive cost. Yes 9g servo cost naff all but its the eletronics etc. Ok the apt should not tilt on points but running it on set track is out of scal so tilting on points is not an issue . Motor This would need to be upgraded not to hard to do. Detailing over all the Hornby Apt was good. The problem I find with supdetailed locos is you are for ever in fear of breaking them and that detail cost a lot. Yes give the APT a tidy up ,seperate wippers etc . But things like DJM was on about a lifting nose. Very nice but at what cost. That would add a fair bit to the price. And lets be fair now many people would use it ? I think 5 car set to start with would do well . Extra cars could be done as well. If we look at the apt. You have a DTV ,Power car and a Brake car. Take the two DTV cut it in half and re assamble and you have a 1st or 2nd articulated coach. For a dinning car cover some windows . Ok the inside would be diffrent on the coachs but the basic mould is the same. All they would need to do is change one side on the dinning car which can be done on the moulding process. over all I think it is a viable project . John
  20. Hello Thanks for your reply . The impression I got from the flims one a cab ride little joe was once you remove bells and horn which sound very simuliar ,you were left with the blower fan for the traction motors and the compressor . With sound a tend to work on the 1m rule. That is its 87m from the real loco what would you hear. Thats why I turn alot of volums down were you can . That a big plus point of Sound trax. Saying that I have never had Zimo and only had factory installed ESU so no real need to change or alter. Your loco sound very nice. I am more leaning to Zimo because they can do servo drive, but saying that I could do 2 chips one sound one functions . John
  21. Hi all I have an E71 Little Joe made by MTH. The chip has failed. I am looking at rewiring it and installing DCC sound chip not MTH DCS. Looking at ESU,Zimo and Sound trax they all list a GG1. My question does the GG1 and Little joe sound the same . Tryed listing to clips on you tube but it hard to make out due to other sounds in the films . If any knows the answer that would be great John
  22. I Have an MTH little Joe E71. The main chip has stoped working for some reasion. I am in the process of working out how to rewire. This is proving to be a nightmare . Due to the fact MTH do the own thing and do not answer emails about spares .There DCS is a nightmare when trying to program a loco from a DCC system. If I had a choice of buying a model from another manufactor I would . Sadlly only MTH make the little Joe with sound . There selling point to the US market is gimicks ,like stuped raido talk etc. A lot of modlers are quite correct in being put off buying MTH locos due to the DCS system. IF MTH came in to the fold and went DCC they would deffently increase sales. The models I have are well detailed and nice runners ,Just a shame about the eletroincs . John
  23. Hi John I do have Dyslexia and thank you for your post . John
  24. on the 10th of March you quoted If you have the time and the patience to go through the NRM archives, you can get the original drawings for the GT3. Then you approach a factory, and say, 'build this', pay them some money and 14 months down the line you have a 20ft container with trains in it. That's the simplistic approach. May be thoes plans ?? On that samw day I asked about a spec sheet you still now answerd that or any questions on the model ? John
