  1. Me too, but with the original Kodachrome ASA 10!. What a joy KII was- 2.5 times faster and more natural colours.
  2. My solution for the roof is to cut from 20 thou' plasticard two pieces to the roof profile and attach to the underside of the roof.Position them so that they fit firmly against the inside of the compartment.I use contact adhesive to attach this to the top edges and the inside of the compartment above the windows.
  3. Thanks, I have but they don't stock 882 probably because it is 3mm scale.I have however found a supplier in Italy that posts to Oz!
  4. Thanks Mike, I'll try the Sommerfeldt. Is there a UK supplier?
  5. Mike, sorry to be off topic, but a good opportunity to ask if you can supply the etch of the pantograph for the ES1 .Mine became detached during a house move and has disappeared! Many thanks if you can help.
  6. Seems that all Bachmann items shown as "pre-order" have been deleted. e.g. the Midland 0-4-4Ts and the new livery D11s.
  7. Jesse, Why not wait for the new Bachmann V2 with the revised body? You are young enough to be still alive when it finally appears!
  8. They are clearly not from Birmingham, for as my good Brummy friend says "no accent pays more homage to the G than the Birmingham".
  9. Congratulations John. Now onward to a double century!
  10. Good idea John, you should raise it at the next Exec C'tee meeting.
  11. Thanks Rob, I thought it may have been some NER diagram I may have missed but the square windows were uncharacteristic.
  12. John, You forgot the concluding "gong" which for you as a DCC man would be a doddle.
  13. Tamiya do a Rubber Black which I also use for coach underframes and bogies.
  14. He produces a number of GNR/ECJS/LNER etched coach kits (RDEB). They consist of the body and basic underframe and require the addition of castings, bogies and roof. The kits can be obtained from Wizard models and the extras from either Wizard or MJT. They do become rather expensive coming out at 70-80 GBP for a complete coach.
  15. The Irish tend to pronounce "th" as "t" as ,for example, in tank you.
  16. A Cockney when asked his age replied "firty free" He was then asked to spell thirty three to which he replied "you can't spell firty free it is a number!"
  17. Andrew I am not surprised you did not receive a follow up from Mr Swain. About ten years ago ,perhaps more, I purchased his K4 kit which was missing one of the main body structural parts but included a part from his L1 kit! Obviously a packing error. After several phones calls and promises to send me the correct part the part never arrived. In the end I surrendered. The "K4" is in a drawer somewhere and if sold when I leave this mortal coil Mr Swain will incur the wrath of another unfortunate modeller.
  18. Having built a number of Comet kits I solder in the door handles and grab rails before I assemble the body. After final painting I scrape the paint away to reveal the bare brass. As for the interior this can be set out from the floor plan in the instructions.I also file smooth the projections of the dynamo and any others that would foul the floor. This means I only have to drill the floor base for the bogie bolts. But as you say whatever works for you.I have attached a photo of a Thompson RT completed some eight years ago.
  19. Have a look at this. http://www.midrailcentre.com/sheet-metal-mini-folders-bending-bars Did you buy the D&S kits from Danny direct?
  20. Jesse, That looks like a nice pile of D&S kits which will keep you happy and busy for some time.
  21. Tony, you have committed one of my pet hates. It is the coach that is cheaper not the price. It is similar to saying hotter, rather than higher, temperature. The price is lower and the atmosphere hotter. Hat,coat....
  22. I too would feel lucky if I lived to 128.
  23. You are in good company Jesse as the late great David Jenkinson referred to such trains on his layout as "funny trains"
