  1. Or perhaps Standard and Super. This is my memory of Oz in the 50s.
  2. Sore eyes, tired hands and the odd soldering burn/blister?
  3. Wills MR Flatiron for me on a Jinty chassis with Romfords. It was my first attempt at soldering with low melt solder.I was considerably older than 15 however! I still have it and it comes out of its box every so often for a quick run round the layout..
  4. This is a standard pro-forma charge at the point of order. Andrew refunds the difference between this and the actual cost when the order is sent.
  5. It is not an autocoach, it is a composite to diagram 7 The end nearest to the autocar is a luggage compartment.I have just finished building two of these from D&S kits.
  6. Tony, I pressed the like button and would add that I am quite prepared and happy to pay the postage costs to Oz.
  7. I have fitted the Canon/Comet combination to a SEF J38 I have just finished. It is the quietest and smoothest drive train I have used.I haven't tested its haulage capabilities but I am confident from the "feel" of its torque that it would be fit for duty on LB.It will also move at an almost imperceptible crawl. In future this will be my preferred drive train. Tony, it was good to meet you and Mo in Sydney and thank you again for being such an enthusiastic and involved presenter in our convention.
  8. Yes, but interestingly with only just over half the number of views.
  9. Mine arrived this morning six days after it left the UK. I was most impressed with the robust and careful packaging. In the end Locomotion have made good the initial mix up.
  10. Rob, I am surprised you have not heard from Tom as I have had two emails from him in the last two days.I know he is on leave from 3 to 10 September. I have found the best means of contact is a phone call. My SS is on a world tour and has just left Honolulu! I sympathise with your feeling of frustration.
  11. I phoned last evening only to be greeted by an answering machine. As I put down the phone an email from UPS advised a parcel from the NRM is scheduled for delivery on Tuesday.Checking the tracking this morning shows it is on its way. Fingers crossed!
  12. What is going on??? I received an email from UPS advising delivery to Sydney on Friday 31/8. Two hours later another email advising the delivery had been cancelled by the NRM.I ordered as soon as it was announced and paid in full on 10/8. I will ring Locomotion this evening and hope I can get an answer to this mess.
  13. John, How appropriate that I am reading your update.from The Atlantic Hotel in Newquay having just returned from a quick visit to the Kernow Model Centre. So called heat wave conditions here since we arrived in the UK on June 22
  14. Thanks Eric. I'l try removing the grey line. I'll also look at the HMRS sheet as it has red lining for LNWR loco splashers and see if I can adapt those.
  15. Lovely group of photos Eric.I have just finished a PDK D30 (62440) but have yet to do the lining on the splasher to finish it completely. Could you tell me what you used on your D30?
  16. If the pricing is attractive some of the more experienced kit builders would be interested and not be put off by incomplete instructions and the odd missing small part.. Is there a concentration on a particular prototype?
  17. There is an error message on my video. The videos from earlier editions are fine.
  18. Carrs make a solder and flux suitable for aluminium.
  19. Andrew, The NER clerestory looks the part. I am building three at the moment and they will be finished in LNER brown but with BR(NE) markings. Do you know if the lower steps would have been removed by then? What paint have you used for the muddy brown? I was planning to use Precision teak as I have done on other ex NER coaches.
  20. Also R8098 spoked wagon wheels GBP 13 at Hattons.
  21. Jesse, try Wizard models https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/

    EBay madness

Is this an indication of a very imperfect market? http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=162887088655&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2565 The same package can be purchased from Lychett Manor Models for 68.50GBP! Admittedly there could be a 26 day wait from this source.
