  1. How about a nice Barry Trotter's Hogwarts express train set? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155034442143
  2. Companion for your Flying Scotsman clock? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115417705519
  3. Couple of pics taken around 8am Friday morning 3/6/22, a 30 minute bike ride from home, rain next day and I was at home with the wood burner going!
  4. Rain early this morning but 4 miles in the wrong direction got me to a bench overlooking the beach, on my evening commute and managed an extra 10 miles home!
  5. I bought this trek marlin 7 last year, my first ever new bike, and I found the gearing very low,I have been struggling with climbing a steep hill on a local trail and this makes it almost too easy! Was fitted with a 10 speed cassette and a single 28 tooth chainring but I have fitted a 32T, couldn't get a 34T, to make it more useful but I still spend most time in the highest gear!
  6. I visited the local bike/model shop, Charlie Cole's in dunstable, many years ago and came out with a blue western and also the warship that was behind it in the cabinet, cost £8 each, to go with the maroon Western I already had, think that was £5 from a toyfair! Still have them I recall seeing the first release of the Deltic on the Hornby stand at Warley, still with Wipac lights, and marvelling at the £99 retail price! Which reminds me that I have a Lima porterbrook Deltic with a Hornby chassis somewhere..
  7. 6223 Duchess of Sutherland stops at Camborne 30/4/22
  8. Meanwhile, in deepest Bedfordshire..
  9. The first Bachmann models used the 1980s Mainline model with a vastly superior drive using a centre motor and flywheels with drive to both bogies, the original mainline model was well detailed however had a feeble pancake motor driving 2 axles, and collected power from 4 of its 16 wheels! I seem to remember the first release of the retooled model had lost it's distinctive nose 'seam'
  10. L@@k, rare Smokey Joe GTI? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-OO-Gauge-Smokey-Joe-0-4-0-Steam-Tank-Engine-/224810176759?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  11. I have some Whitworth spanners I could donate to the project!
  12. No sign of the invisibility cloaks in Lidl..
  13. An exhibition without any layouts, Would that not be a swapmeet/toy fair? Although some, like Sandown I went to in 2019 do have test tracks in operation. I Have attended the Ally Pally show a few times in the past and aspects of that reminded me of the old swap meets... As an aside Living in West Cornwall It always seems odd to me that Bristol is considered 'West County' when it is (by road) almost 200 miles North East of me!
  14. Managed a 17 mile trip today including part of the freight only tresavean branch of the Hayle railway, which left the main line just west of Redruth Station,The last few miles have been converted into a foot path with some nice views , including relaying a (very) short length of track, the rest is built over, abandoned & overgrown or made into an access road.
  15. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R6862-4-Plank-Wagon-Arnold-Sands-MNIB-/175054944766?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Ok the seller may not realise the wagon in the box is not a 4 plank open, but I would have thought that having a totally different name on the side would be a clue that something is not quite right, !! NMIB indeed, Just need L@@k, rare....
  16. Either going to be Titfield Thunderbolt and Train in O gauge, or 'Gladstone' from Oh Mr Porter!
  17. Unless Hornby have any spare I Can't help on this, however You can always Sell off the body, and packaging on ebay to get some money back
  18. Had a few days off work but haven't been out much, still not fully over the cold my teenage children gave me for Christmas, the asthma I had as a child makes me very wheezy!! No spin bike sessions in the last 2 weeks either, Most of the rides were done on an old and heavy Apollo mountain bike I was given by a colleague, before I bought a new trek Marlin 7 in October..
  19. Some years ago a cyclist relation took a handful of rechargeable AA batteries with him, loose in a pocket, however they came into contact with some keys and the resultant short circuit generated enough heat to encourage a rapid stop and emptying of said pocket!
  20. Close, West Cornwall with Godrevy Island and St. Ives in the distance, photo taken on Boxing day by a friend at the western most point of my ride, today's efforts was a quick ride along local roads and cycle trails, It started to rain again as I was washing the mud off my bike when I returned around midday, and hasn't really stopped yet! Still got to finish cleaning the bike too..
  21. Was out on Boxing day after the early rain Cleared, managed nearly 20 miles and the sun came out too, Jobs to do at home and Getting over a cold so did not want to be out too long! Managed A quick 6 mile ride today between rain showers.
