  1. Thanks to an article in the latest train collectors association mag I have been looking at Trix twin railway items and I think this listing qualifies for inclusion here, due to the excellent photos! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295623828426
  2. I bought a new mainline warship and it never was a good runner, would have returned it at the time if I hadn't lost the receipt , think it was a gear meshing problem, bought a second hand chassis and it was the same, After the armature self destructed it was put away until I got the Bachmann version from the Warley returns stand scrum and it became a non powered dummy, I dug them both out of storage a few years ago to sell as moving towards O gauge, however the Bachmann model has developed a distinct bend due to the mazak chassis castings expanding... Never had any running issues with the Lima version!
  3. And The inscription, Empty to Margate, On the Pearce and Crump scrap carriers open wagon!
  4. Never mind a TT model of Thunderboltt, when is the O gauge version being released? 😉
  5. A few years ago I tried to explain to the young waitress in a fancy cafe somewhere in Norfolk, Holt possibly, that they shouldn't really be advertising Home made (on the premises) Cornish pasties.... Bought a lovely steak and Stilton pasty from Philps in Praze-an-beeble the other day, cost over £4 though 🙄.
  6. Warmed up a bit today in the bottom left hand corner of England, and it has stopped raining, so a quick perusal of realtimetrains.co.uk this evening revealed I had time to ride to my local station to coincide with the arrival of a GWR HST castle set, 43098 pictured on the rear of 2C51 Plymouth to Penzance service, with a flying cucumber on the up line a few minutes later, done a few extra miles on the way home!
  7. Had a look at the £75 K-Line train set today, looks unused with some items in sealed bags, original shipping box shows it was sent at a cost of $31.55 from Palatine IL to an address in Switzerland , October 15 1996 , The other lionel rolling stock ordered appears to be unused too!
  8. £10 Off accurascale O gauge HUO hopper wagon! https://www.accurascale.com/collections/24-5t-huo-coal-hopper-o-gauge
  9. Something else I noticed is there is a certain amount of duplication in their stock, 5 identical lionel box cars for example, and also some expensive locos, 2 of these.. https://www.hattons.co.uk/1148651/mth_20_3029_1_po_4_8_4_gs_4_4449_southern_pacific_with_protosound_pre_owned_good_box/stockdetail If it is all from a private collection the owner must have forgotten what they had!
  10. I have bought (quite a) few items recently from this range, many appear unused , one large steam locomotive has been out of it's box but never used so presumably just on display, unfortunately arrived damaged however hattons offered a return or partial refund, I opted for the latter! Another minor issue was some items I had paid for had actually been sold a few minutes earlier, so were put on back order and the others sent out! Some I got a notification they were out of stock when I attempted to checkout, for example these, or ones very similar, were in my basket at £5 and have now appeared at inflated price on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155447748904 The seller has a few other items that appeared on hattons site..
  11. Out fairly early this morning for a ride to the beach on my recently acquired fancy road bike, an ancient thermos flask fitting neatly in a bottle holder, and a quick trip to the station this evening to watch the passing of a Cardiff to Penzance Castle set! Grand total of 14 miles..
  12. PEN 15 was on a smart car belonging to a registration transfer company in Bedfordshire some years ago. Many of the dodgy plates are sold from outside the UK,like the channel islands so the sellers are not bound by the same regulations that UK sellers have to abide to, although it is still an offence to fit to your vehicle! All that should be on the plate is the registration number, with a space between letters and numbers, not the area code letters on post 2001 issued, the supplier of the plate, a code for the manufacturer of the components and the British standard mark, phone numbers, logos and Web addresses not permitted, although can be added to a lip on the bottom of the plate! The font and spacing is defined by law. The 'showplate' for off road use only was outlawed some time ago, as oddly enough owners were using them on the road.
  13. I always assumed that pre-owned was like secondhand but dearer, however not quite as expensive as pre-loved!
  14. Anyone for a vintage Model of a certain LNER pacific?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255993764950
  15. May be worth looking at the ets website, they have a variety of chassis units sold as spares!
  16. 43192 leads 43155 on 2C69 Bristol to Penzance service, just passed the site of North Crofty junction Near Camborne, Cornwall on 25/2/23 just as the sun goes behind a cloud making the GWR green look more dull than usual!
  17. Those network southeast coaches could bring tears to the eyes 😉
  18. I received this example as a present a few years ago, told I was getting an A4 to run on my (still unbuilt) garden line, thought it would nicely compliment my Corgi Bassett lowke A3 🤣
  19. It is possible that the motor magnet is weak, this could cause the overheating and poor performance, may be worth trying a new magnet or remagnetising the original.
  20. Growing up near a Blue Circle cement works in Bedfordshire and watching the cement trains means I have an excuse for collecting a few Cement wagons for my still unbuilt O gauge garden line, although I don't recall any looking like the Hornby tinplate example! I have set myself a price limit of £12 for the common yellow ones so this example is slightly out of my price range! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275620478053 The seller has a selection of somewhat overpriced items for sale... I do have a few of the excellent Ellis Clarke presflows ,but don't remember seeing them run there either 😉
  21. A trip 'up country' meant cycling around Bedfordshire and alongside the grand Union canal between Leighton Buzzard and Bletchley, got 2 punctures one day, and 4 on my last, due to Thorns! I did intend to go around the woods near Woburn one morning didn't have much time, and a road closure meant me cycling around a different part of woodland and trying unsuccessfully to cross a rather muddy field! Managed just over 100 miles during the week on an old heavy Apollo bike that I leave in the car when away, It doesn't get a lot of use and probably not worth fitting tubeless tyres to.
  22. I have to confess I have never attended this event, due to work and other commitments, also despite it being in the "South West" it is still over 130 miles north east of me! However this year (and a favorable car MOT) I may Be able to rectify that error 🙂
  23. Something different !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255934446672
  24. Ace trains have the prototype deltic due soon in O gauge , they have a fictional LNER apple green version too, which could be a possibility for Hornby! (sound fitted, all metal and £720)
