  1. Sleuth - Olivier and Caine. At the top of their game and both look to be having tremendous fun. Das Boot - In the original German. Arguably the best war film ever made. Don’t let the subtitles put you off. La Cage aux Folles - The original is hilariously funny and nothing like the insipid sanitised American remake. Again don’t let the subtitles put you off. The Long Arm - Classic 50s B&W crime drama that broke the mould. Hawkins at his best (maybe a double bill with The League Of Gentleman?). Casino Royale - The first Bond of the reboot and arguably the best Bond film ever. Craig is excellent and it has it all; cars, locations, tension and plot twists. Blade Runner - A classic and not just of the Sci-Fi genre. Get the Director’s Cut version if you can. And if you’ve not seen it binge watch Derry Girls on 4OD. The best modern UK comedy of recent years. The Big Bang Theory being the best modern US comedy of recent years.
  2. Gauge obviously. But sleeper spacing, end diverging sleeper orientation, flat bottomed rail profile and just the fact it was a “unit” and did not flow. Plus the 12 degree standard as opposed to A/B/C 6/7/8 etc angles. There is nothing wrong with it as a product in my opinion but I think I just wanted more realism. This has lead to me attempting to learn Templot which is a whole other matter. Remember this hobby is supposed to be fun....
  3. I have the the track plan for Leighton Buzzard (minus the curve and gasworks) in Peco Code 75 all done along with folding 6 foot baseboards. Mirror image though to make the 3-ways work. But that’s as far as I took it due to my dissatisfaction with that code of Peco track, along with the gauge etc. Now on the faltering steps in EM gauge. And anyway, to me, it didn’t feel right to copy such an iconic layout.
  4. Following a recommendation on this very thread I bought one of these: https://www.circuitspecialists.eu/csi-premier75w-digital-temperature-controlled-solder-station-with-75w-soldering-iron/ I find it ideal as it has three presets so I have one set for white metal, one for brass etc. More than happy with it.
  5. Thank you. Site: http://www.wmcollectables.co.uk/index.php
  6. Tony The stall selling the loco kits. Can you remember their name? Do they have a website? Much appreciated if you do. David
  7. Have you seen the buyers and online premium! Rob dogs! But a great buy at the price really.
  8. They had a Class 25??!! Thought they were dyed in the wool steam men.....
  9. Agreed. I was thinking of buying one as a Showcase model but have completely changed my mind now. The price maybe reasonable for an O gauge model but it is still a sizeable amount of money that I’m not prepared to risk.

    GNR and GCR Kits

Hopefully specifically looking to acquire any GNR or GCR Coach Kits. Anything considered. Infact all kits considered including locos and wagons.
  11. Do you do your modelling “naked eye” so to speak? Or do you use an Optivisor or similar magnification aid?
  12. Does Ben Jones still work for Heljan? He is in a video for Hattons Class 66 dated 8th November and identified as a Journalist.
  13. You are Iain Rice and I claim my £5-00...
  14. Agreed. Keep both sets. Giving the builder options is always good.

    Oxford N7

I'll second his rolling bars. A very well made tool and easy to use. My first roll was a success. I even surprised myself.
  16. Sort of. The great “imaginery” layout. U shaped. Urban on one side, rural on the other with a fiddleyard in the middle at the bottom of the U. So lookout for Hobbs End to Studley Constable. Coming, very slowly, to a Forum near you.
  17. Y4 then, If it is then I'm in the market for one as well. PS And a high fidelity N7!
  18. As said before I’d be in the market for one. I didn’t know you were developing this. I’d been bugging Jim at Connoisseur Models to develop and market one.
  19. At Heaven's Gate,... Dolly Parton and Queen Elizabeth arrive at the Pearly Gates on the same day. They both met St Peter to find out if they would be admitted to Heaven. St Peter said, "Unfortunately, there's only one space in Heaven today so I must decide which of one of you will be admitted." St Peter asked Dolly if there was some particular reason why she should go to Heaven. Dolly took off her top and said, "Look at these, they are the most perfect breasts God ever created." St Peter thanked Dolly, and asked Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth, the same question. The Queen walked over to a toilet, pulled the lever and flushes it without saying a word. St Peter immediately said, "OK, your Majesty, you may go into Heaven." Dolly was outraged and asked, "What was that all about? I showed you two of God's own perfect creations and you turned me down. She simply flushed a commode and she got admitted to Heaven! Would you explain that to me? "Sorry, Dolly," said St Peter, "but even in Heaven, a royal flush beats a pair - no matter how big they are."
  20. I’d be in the market for one. Is there a tender? Or am I being thick and can’t see it on the sheets?
  21. Congratulations PS I have to say I’m in awe of your modelling abilities in 2mm scale. And your eyesight!
  22. So by definition, as you refer to wife number one and assuming you are now on wife number two (or later!), you are divorced? Did wife number one not want Chiltern Green as part of the divorce settlement??!!
