  1. Is this of any use? Scroll down to see a stay alive setup on the cab floor. Unless there's been any modification to the tooling it appears that the cab is removable on the 64xx https://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Resource.php?L1=Guides&Item=BachmannPannier
  2. The oil you've used is ok. Heavier oils are more suited to older mechanisms like say a Triang / Hornby X03/4 motor. Over time the "lubricant" applied by Bachmann (and Hornby) can solidify. Also there are many more points to apply oil besides the drive wheels. Depending upon how comfortable you are with removing the body shell and bogies then it's best to remove the original lubricant and apply the light oil to the locations shown in the Bachmann service sheet. There may have been a few changes made to the 57 over the years, but the basic mechanism is the same. A link to the service sheet is the original is missing https://Bachmann-spares.co.uk/file/Class-57-21pin.pdf Hope this helps.
  3. Easier to swap the leads round that go to the motor?

  5. Are there any suppressors / chokes / ferrite rods between the decoder output and the motor? I don't have examples of the same locos, but my other Bachmann ones have up to 3 suppressors soldered to the motor. These items could be interfering with the feedback that the decoder is sensing from the motor? Rightly or wrongly I always remove them.
  6. Nothing to give the manufacturer away Andy.
  7. Just landed. No time to inspect them but I did photo the instructions showing the mechanism.
  8. @RAF96 Do you have a list of the CVs that the new HM7000 decoders support? I'm hoping for at least CV2 and CV5 support, ideally full speed table CVs.
  9. Prior to getting married I had quite a collection of model railway items. My wife moved in with me, and we put my house on the market so we could get our ideal house together. After 2 years of marriage we moved house. I was quizzed over why there were so many removal boxes marked “loft”. I had omitted to mention the trains even though I did I disappear into the loft for a few hours a week 😄 Then some 20 years later my brother in law called round to find me in the garage soldering dropper wires to points. Turns out he too has a loft full of boxes of trains that no-one else knew about! Reading magazines online and watching YouTube on phone / tablet means that what I watch remains on my own devices. And smwbo’s cook books / diets / sudoku etc don’t clog up my browser history etc.
  10. Not seen this being asked on any survey I’ve seen. Question - do any of the following know about your obsession interest in model railways 1) immediate family 2) neighbours 3) colleagues Back in the early 80s I was reading a copy of Railway Modeller in the local WHSmiths on my lunch break. My supervisor walked past, saw what I was reading and shook his head disapprovingly. Got passed over for guaranteed promotion until he himself moved on. Don’t care who knows about it now as it’s unlikely I’ll get promoted form junior retiree to senior retiree 😂
  11. He should have handed it over to the two repair engineers to remove the grease from the axles which will have solidified through lack of use! Btw I’m sure that after watching the “Top 10” episode it started to play season 2 episode 2 with Jools Holland. But I was half asleep and I turned the tv off when I went outside to empty the dogs.
  12. If its the original Lima hooks you're after then there are plenty available here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/313918897076
  13. Maybe Montana suggests they make a certain model that is due to be announced tomorrow by Simon?
  14. I'm waiting until Sam's Trains puts up his video. After all he's the only expert there is in the world of model trains :-)
