Bridport and District Model Railway Club Summer Exhibition
Cowley 47521 replied to rocketron55's topic in Exhibitions
Nice to catch up for a chat next to the snow Callum… Some great shots of Moors View on the video and actually quite a lot of the other layouts I didn’t manage to see in the end because it was only myself and Paul running things yesterday, so good to see some videos of everything else too! Nick -
Farish N class throwing off traction tyres.

Yes I could see that causing a problem! Well we ran the layout at the Bridport show yesterday and did our usual steam in the morning and 1980s diesels in the afternoon, but despite us having a spare loco on hand in case of traction tyre problems the N performed faultlessly all morning. I think the tyres probably have stretched a tiny bit but with careful handling maybe they’re fine for the moment. Paul did actually book the loco into Bachmann for them to change them but now he’s not sure whether to go ahead or not. -

That’s really useful and makes a lot of sense Roy thanks for that. I think it may have got a bit of alcohol cleaning fluid on it unfortunately. The loco generally only pulls about 6 coaches at the most but I don’t think he’s going to want to change a wheel set for the sake of just changing the tyre (or possibly both just to be on the safe side). I’ll pass this on now. Thanks again. Nick -
Evening everyone. It’s actually my friends loco and at the Exeter show it threw one of the rear traction tyres off a couple of times and they’re not easy to get back on when you’re busy trying to run trains… I guess it must have stretched slightly but I’ve got a couple of questions for those in the know: How do you change them anyway? Is it possible to do away with them altogether? Has anyone else had the same problem? Any advice much appreciated. Nick

Cheapo train sets....get creative!

It’s fantastic 33C. Really brutal looking as well. -
That’s great, thanks John.

Evening everyone. My friends 121 with sound has been away for repairs as it didn’t run properly, now it’s back the thing sounds ok on tickover, but as soon as you pull away it makes a kind of hissing sound which doesn’t sound anywhere near right. Unfortunately DCC Supplies forgot to put the booklet back in the box when they posted it so we’re in the dark a bit! Does anyone have a similar problem and also does anyone know which function the saloon lights are on please? Any help much appreciated!

In our house Nathaniel sits on a spike!

That’s rather nice. I remember seeing it in the flesh a couple of times on various forays up north and it definitely evokes that era.

Thank you all very much for your kind words. I will pass them on to Paul, who I think is feeling fairly overwhelmed by the way all this has all gone! None of us expected to win it and there were some great layouts there. Really enjoyed chatting to my fellow rmwebbers as well. I must admit that I’m absolutely knackered after the last couple of days! This was my favourite photo of Moors View from the weekend:

Morning Rich, great to meet you too and it definitely was an advantage knowing what you looked like already! I just passed that on to Paul and he said “Wow, can you thank him from me please Nick for his kind words & excellent photography on rmweb.” Again thanks Julian. He really appreciated that. The punters seemed to really like it and once we got into the rhythm of putting on some entertainment (for the first time in two and half years!) everything went really well I must say.

Ah great. I’ll let your lad drive something if he’s up for it? I’m really looking to this weekend actually, we haven’t done a show for two and a half years now!

Blimey it’s been a while since I posted anything in this thread (I haven’t quite built up the energy to replace the lost photos yet). Just to say that we’ll be exhibiting my friends railway ‘Moors View’ at the Exeter show this weekend. I had a quick chat to @Chris M who’s exhibiting his lovely Dawlish Warren layout earlier and it was nice to put a name to a face. If anyone local is coming along (I’m looking at you for a start @Ramblin Rich) please come and say hello. Look for a snowy N gauge layout and that’ll be us! in other news, well not too much really. I keep buying things on Saturday nights after a few beers but I’ve banned myself from eBay for a bit… Oh and I snapped an electricity pole the other day and had to make a little box to act as a splint: (Don’t open the door because it’s very very dangerous) And as a group we’ve been trying to detail up all the stuff that we’ll be running this weekend: That’s pretty much it but I’ll post a few photos from the show next week.

The Yes Tour was actually around 16 miles from Yes Tor four days ago… https://www.ents24.com/tavistock-events/the-wharf-tavistock/yes/6504874
