  1. Come on Andy, it was quite clearly not like that. I said in my comment that I thought it looked really good, I was just wondering about the firebox colour which has now been clarified...
  2. Thanks for clarifying, looks great. Certainly seems like they've done a lot of great research. For the record, I wasn't criticising Rails or Bachmann but simply asking if that particular part was correct, as is often the case on internet forums. To echo PaulRhB's thoughts on here, I was also under the impression that people could respond to comments, not just questions.
  3. They look really good as Bachmann pre grouping Locomotives always do. Just wondered about the firebox on the as built example. Presumably on the final model the blue will stretch down to the frames as it does on the preserved example?
  4. Just had a watch of Eridge, very impressive and interesting. If they are to be taken down, I hope they are put onto a DVD.
  5. Without wanting to derail the thread, now that DC1 brake etches have been withdrawn, are there any alternatives available?
  6. I remember speaking to you about this at Warley. It's a great location, very excited to see this develop :)
  7. Fair enough, I wasn't aware it was a single man operation. Must be very busy with all those wheels! Hopefully we get some of those kits some day though.
  8. I hope that's not the case with regards to Alan Gibson kits. If the orders are there then surely they could make a batch if profitable?
  9. Andy, I have no problem with you having a different perspective, it was your barbed comments (which you freely admit to) that I take issue with. I don't see why you have to rush to defend them with an infantile response when the best you can say is that they 'aren't necessarly to blame'. Hornby are a large organisation with their own PR department who are quite capable of defending themselves if need be.
  10. 1. He hasn't received the model which he pre ordered and presumably neither have the retailer. 2. I'm not disregarding the cause, I don't know the cause and Hornby haven't issued a statement on it. I just think trying to push blame onto the retailer and the customer in order to help Hornby save face is a bit off and I think an apology is due from yourself for the rude response. 3. My mistake, I admit it's hard to tell the difference sometimes between yourself and the manufacturers when you are rushing to defend them like that.
  11. Well as far as I'm aware I don't think any self proclaimed Nigerian Princes are in the market for Hornby trains haha. Fortunately, he does have protection through Paypal. It was quite a rude reply at best Andy and I think an apology is in order. A bit of empathy wouldn't go amiss next time when Hornby quite clearly haven't fulfilled their side of the deal, regardless of what has gone on behind the scenes. Isn't not blaming the customer the golden rule of retail?
  12. So the guy might have been out of pocket by over £200 because he was trying to help a small business and your reaction is to blame him. Come on Andy, you're better than that.
  13. One of those would be amazing! Would love them to do a Johnson style smokebox door version for 1532 too in the future! I hope they've tooled for that. There is a market for attractive edwardian locomotives. There are many of us who like that period and many people who just like running a mix of trains that take their fancy.
  14. Good news all round then. Correct chimney, optional traction tyres and sound version alternatives. A good day for Bachmann!
  15. I've not got that book but is it the same photo as this one here? https://www.oliviastrains.com/trains/mt/Bachmann-steam/Bachmann-1532-class-johnson-1p/Bachmann-31-740-1532-class-johnson-1p-0-4-4t-n1273-in-midland-railway-crimson-lake-livery/ And is that a Johnson chimney so the updated chimney is correct?
  16. Good news about the optional traction tyres and sound enhancements. I'm confused by the chimney on the Midland variant. It appeared to be based on a photo of it at Buxton with a Deeley smokebox door, but now it's got a Johnson chimney which differs from the photo.
  17. Can I ask what is the difference between EFE and Bachmann? Is it like Hornby with Railroad? Not sure I quite understand
  18. That's surprising, we haven't even seen the EP yet.
  19. The L&YR class 5 has been pushed back again, no sign of it on the list again sadly.
  20. This is fantastic layout that I've thoroughly enjoyed reading about today. Looking forward to seeing further progress.
  21. That's what I wondered, but surely if it was route familiarisation then they would continue beyond Newton Abbot to Plymouth and not be turned around? I wondered if maybe it was a freight working to Hackney Yard but it could be either really.
  22. Sounds really interesting, would love to see a track plan. Also, noting Southern trains at Newton Abbot as others have touched upon. I've seen a few photos of N class Moguls at the turntable which is another excuse to include them. I'm not sure why they went there and the caption in the book (I think it was Scenes from the Past 19) wasn't clear on why either. Looking forward to seeing more
  23. Very nice, loving the videos especially
  24. I'd also be interested in many of the GWR and Midland kits when he reopens.
