  1. Here is Brian's wonderful rendition of the North British Hotel in its final position. The ramp is lying loose and has to be adjusted to a slightly shallower angle. Have a great Christmas everyone. Cheers David
  2. The making of plates continues! This is the latest work in progress. The smokebox number plate from 55053. This was the last Highland Railway built locomotive to run in service on BR and worked the Dornoch branch for many years. The good news is I have done a little bit of work on The layout too. I have started preparing the George Square baseboard to accept the buildings Brian made. Hopefully pictures soon. Cheers David
  3. The night shots are particularly effective. Cheers David
  4. Well done Andy. It is really coming together now. Really looks the part. Cheers David
  5. I am afraid the making of repro plates has become something of an obsession supplanting real modelling on GQS. I will get back to the modelling soon! In the meantime i have fashioned this shed plate as worn by the last loco to work the Dornoch branch, 16XX pannier 1649. I plan to make the smokebox and cabside number plates too. The second picture is of some laser cut steel numbers I plan to use for the cabside plate. Cheers David
  6. You have made a cracking job of that Andy. Cheers David
  7. That is a cracking job on the faded 20. Really looks the part. Cheers David
  8. They will be part of a semaphore signal which I plan to put next to the coach.
  9. What we have here is a water tank thermostat spanner, a couple of bits of plywood, the end of a broom handle (freshly cut from our broom!) and three components of what is sold as an industrial style shelving system. What could they possibly be used for?!
  10. That is a lovely piece of work. Really stunning. Cheers David
  11. Here is one of the pads upon which the buffers would sit.
  12. Lovely photo Mr Tea, thanks for posting, Cheers David
  13. I enjoyed making the works plates and decided to see what I could make with the leftover letters. I came up with this!
  14. All the best for a speedy recovery Andy. Cheers David
  15. Thanks for that. I painted them in exterior primer then exterior gloss. Then i sprayed satin varnish on the works plate to tone it down a bit.
  16. The first works plate all painted up and above it a representation of the casting in which the drawhook will sit.
  17. After a couple of weeks away I today had the treat of watching the last 3 videos all together. A spot of binge watching! What these running sessions show is you have really nailed the track plan. You have managed to put a lot into what is really a relatively small space. It has the feel of a much larger layout. Well done. I know it is not in your plans but I would consider scenery in the fiddle yard too! Hope your knee recovers soon All the best David
  18. I made a start on the works plates for the full size coach. These are made from plywood and laser cut wooden letters. One (the Lochgorm one)will be dated in the 19th century and the other (the Embo Mains one) will be dated 2023. Cheers David
  19. A very pleasant 10 minutes or so watching the trains go by. Great video Andy. Cheers David
  20. I have had loads of fun scouring hardware and garden centre websites sourcing bits for the coach. Here we have brackets for the coach end steps and for the steps at each compartment door together with the hoop bracket for the safety chains
