  1. Thanks Andy, it is starting to come together. Cheers David
  2. Thanks for those kind words. I am really pleased with how it is coming together. Cheers David
  3. I coloured and weathered one side of the cutting. This is what it looks like now
  4. Had a go at painting and weathering one of the bridge abutments. It is a work in progress but heading in the right direction
  5. That is looking great Andy. The wee coal stage is very effective. Cheers David
  6. Enjoyed video no 11. Especially like the look of Bute Road TMD Cheers David
  7. Here is the wee signal gantry, waiting for its bridge!
  8. It's Slaters 7mm dressed stone. Not perfect but a pretty good match
  9. The first three truss pieces (out of 18) for the Cathedral St. bridge are done. Here I am trying them for size!
  10. Thanks Bill. I am really happy with the way it is coming together. I have to adjust one of the abutments on the bridge, a slight geometry failure! But easily fixed. Cheers David
  11. Hi Scott, I agree. Most of the signals will either be operable by servo or at least moveable. I don't envisage having all the 18 signals on the gantry servo operated but I hope to have perhaps three outgoing and three incoming operable and all movable. The other platform end signals will be operable. I was not so concerned with these under the bridge or the couple that are under the roof. I assume these are repeaters so the banking crews know when the main signals are pulled off from their position at the buffer stops. Cheers David
  12. Here is where we have reached with the first bridge.
  13. Enjoyed video no 10 Andy. The tunnel and cutting on the branch are particularly effective and look well on the video. Absolutely love the BR blue stuff. Enjoy your visit to the show at the weekend Cheers David
  14. Away from building bridge trusses which is on going, this morning I made an attempt at fabricating the twin signal that hangs from Cathedral Street bridge above platforms 3/4. I have no intent to make these particular signals operational. I used Ratio parts. Cheers David
  15. That's all looking brilliant Andy. Well done! Cheers David
  16. Good to hear it. The weighbridge is looking great. Cheers David
  17. It is one step forward and two back on the coach. The first picture shows the site marked out with the positions of 18 posts on which the coach will sit. However I have come to the conclusion this spot is too boggy. In fact it is sopping wet! The second picture is of the new site, lots of clearing required! In the meantime two more bridge abutments for the layout are being constructed. These will be at each end of the Cathedral Street bridge which runs across the front of the North face of the roof. The bridge is 4ft long and rests on six parallel trusses so i have 24 feet of truss to make (plus one more for the Holmhead Street bridge). That should send me cross eyed!
  18. Slightly off topic, due to the era, there was a short lived RNAS base at Longside (Lenabo) , North of Aberdeen at which airships were based from 1916 to 1920 which was rail served. Cheers David
  19. Much enjoyed video 7 Andy. The sound on the 25 is very good, and track cleaning with hardboard is a great tip. Cheers David
  20. I think we have the superstock one on our wall at home!
  21. Very much of interest. Cracking pictures Cheers David
