  1. Ask Kimmy he's not doing too bad
  2. Thanks @Harlequin (Phil) unfortunately the size is the largest I can use, the other side of the room is my working desk & we have to be able to at some point get grand-kids beds in. I have track & will have a play, just waiting for the DCC chip to arrive
  3. I think that is the only option Sorry I don't understand "You have to take a sharp crossover," do you mean via the turnout? I was looking at trying curved points, but hey only come in 2nd/3rd radius not 1st/2nd
  4. Slight setback today went into Rails of Sheffield & they hadn't got any 2nd radius double curves, only standard 2nd radius, but that put the price up another £9, I know not a lot but I'll have to wait. But more importantly they didn't have a cheap DCC loco, I was after the Dapol pannier with DCC, but no stock, went for a DCC ready instead but then they had no chips that would fit so came away with just the loco & some 1st radius track. So currently stuck unless I go steal my grandson's analogue controller
  5. That's interesting as Hamilton has said for a while about leaving Mercedes that it would all depend on what Wolffe was doing.
  6. The parts used a Peco N Gauge Set track, not sure where the reference to OO is being found, apologies for that, but I would have thought the principles were the same no matter what scale, but as usual I am happy to be wrong, as I frequently find I am, but I would rather ask a question then blindly go on in ignorance.
  7. Thank you Robert, probably known as "bus wires" as a derivative of "buzz bars" which were used in large buildings to move the electricity around, which used to "buzz" under certain circumstances. But back to the question, it's 45 years since I "played" with trains, this might just be a fad as I can't get outside & do things on the cars & bikes. I'm also using N gauge which I have never used before, so I may not get on with it. I've also no idea what kind of layout I want, so a simple double loop with sidings will hopefully give me an idea of what I really want. I can also test out inclines, point motors, leds etc. Everything I use will be reused. It might be that I can't get on with N gauge 'too small' then I can go to OO but I cannot go over 4x2 so it will not be R&R.
  8. I think I am mixing up terms, when I said isolating points, I actually meant insulfrog points Sorry.
  9. I've tried to read up on the threads but all of them seem to suddenly drift off at tangents & don't seem to answer basic questions, so I'm asking you all to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid <--- reference to me not you) I'm building the layout below as a testing layout to learn DCC before I build a more complicated one. I will be adding point motors in the future but the initial idea is to get up & running, once I have bought track & loco's. Here is the layout, I read that you only need to connect 2 wires, but as there are isolating points how does the electricity get to the inner track & sidings? Can somebody advised if more links to provide power are needed, I read all over about 'dropouts' but nobody explains what they are. Ignore the colours they have no relevance.
  10. I have a web only Plusnet account, don't know if they still do them, but it means I can have as many email addresses as I want, so far everything I sign up for I use a unique email address, for instance here might be rmweb@username,plus.com, I could also have halifax@username.plus.com. santander@username.plus.com etc. this also has the advantage of knowing who is selling my email for Spam.
  11. Yes, technically they have, but they don't have people physically doing this, it's loaded into a server & off that goes trying website, they won't be changing the 1st 5/6/7/8 characters each time they will be using the same email& password.
  12. Very lifelike almost looks real
  13. I liked this idea & started to work out how I could do it, but then came across an issue, if I lift the track on the right hand side, then it means the track on top of the level where it crosses back over the twin track would also have to go up the same 15mm defeating the object. Very good & shows great skills far better then mine will ever be, but it's too urban for me.
  14. Still arguing with myself what I want to build, but in the meantime I have been productive, it will have another shelf on the bottom
  15. Not always deliberate, I quote somebody off a cycling forum £5 for delivery, but when I got to the PO when they weighed it it was 1.05Kg I had weighed it as under 1Kg, so instead of being £4.60 it was £9.60. In the end I sent it Hermes for £5.90 & accepted the 90p loss
  16. Just another one to throw into the mix, never accept PayPoo if they are coming to collect, they pay, they come, they take your goods, they get home & 7 days later claim they never received the goods, Paypoo contact you to ask for electronic proof of postage. Images of the buyer loading the alloys into his car, the registration of the car were not accepted as they were not of a courier proof of postage. Although on this occasion it ended nicely, through varies means he was located his address & his car left on bricks as we recovered the alloys.
  17. Who's to say it's them that's wrong, they may just have a different risk model.
  18. If you trade online then the biggest issue you have is fraud, it's rampant, stolen credit cards, stolen identities, people claiming damaged items that aren't, deliveries that have arrived but claimed they haven't. It's a pain for everybody but the traders have to try to protect themselves as best they can, they have to do due diligence because if they don't the banks will also rip the money back off them.
  19. Fantastic, about to read your other thread, it's a slow day today
  20. It's not on this forum, it's on another where there are London commuters who are stating that services will be closed to allow the HS2 to pass through stations they currently use Oh that's alright then, all ahead full steam,
  21. Still not convinced, it's a vanity project, the only people who are going to get benefit are the shareholders of the contractors, who knowingly put in low bids fully expecting the costs to be far higher & knowing that no-one in Government has the balls to pull the rug from under them. Upthread people are saying it will free up capacity on existing lines, elsewhere people are advising this won't happen as they are closing tracks to make space for this new line, the £100-150 Billion could be put to far better use.
  22. I wonder how that affects his Indy 500 attempt, or is it because of this, he's found funding with somebody who doesn't want Maclaren involved?
  23. How can it be about capacity if it's not stopping? What appears to be needed is more commuter trains for the people who believe that London is the centre of the universe.
  24. It's the biggest white elephant around, we're in deep but should get out now, no good will come of it, who cares if you can get to London 20 minutes quicker,
