  1. "Nobody from Sheffield would ever prefer to drive to Doncaster than to Sheffield station, so that rules most of my fellow citizens out." I disagree, plenty of people already do it. 20 min drive to Doncaster , easy drop off at the station (unlike the nonsense around Sheffield Station). A cheaper faster journey it makes economic sense. I don't disagree with the woodhouse comments about parking capacity. What this scheme needs is a station with a massive free carpark, near the parkway and the Waverley housing development. (Orgreave/Rotherwood to older readers!)
  2. Interesting, there has been a lot of house building on that side of the city in recent times. What would be free in the rolling stick front in that timescale, ex TP mk5 and class 68s ? EE Type 4 and Pullmans would be nice 🙂
  3. Where are you having the pantograph on this unit , in AC or DC configuration?
  4. Bure valley have a interesting range of black Friday deals.
  5. If you just want to start small and see how you get on like I did, I just use the Arduino interface with jmri. Cost me less than 30 pounds .
  6. I'm in the same boat John! I think the answer is 21 pin but how many functions has me scratching my head. The lokpilot was showing as out of stock at Accurascale yesterday. @McC It would be helpful if you could answer the question on here.
  7. Can believe they are making this beast, need to start saving. Heljan class 306/506 EMU next please.
  8. Time for an eye test 😁 As a lner fan Tommy in apple green with a rake of teak coaches, classic look. I do like the CCs but they do resemble a mobile burial casket,
  9. Does seem a good price for an interesting and quirky loco, I read on another thread on here that they were intensively diagramed on boat trains and freight workings. I hope someone has recording of their sound too. I notic the spec mention mu connections has anyone ever seen a photo of a pair of them operating in multiple ?
  10. My bad , there's a picture on the Ruston ds88 rivet counters guide thread of brand new loco on a road haulage trailer
  11. How would these loco be delivered to their new owners? Trundled along in a goods train, or chained to a low loader wagon?
  12. Was this only six days ago? Any chance of a cheeky picture of a large box of green 37 in the warehouse to keep us on our toes please ,😀
  13. Michael I think you've missed my point, I get bidirectional working and its value. It would probably justify its own thread on which routes in this country are equipped given we might see this problem occuring again . I'm specifically talking about this unexpected problem, that I imagine will take a considerable amount of time to fix.
  14. Very interesting and quite worrying given the amount of infrastructure of a similar age around the country. Question for anyone in the industry, is there value putting 2 crossovers in nearer the site of the incident to shorten that single line section and how long would that take to plan and install, given signalling, track and catenary changes? Obviously IKB would have it done in a weekend ;-)
  15. Neepsend in Sheffield might be worth a look. Served by a working from Worksop at least as late as 1971, it closed in 1976. Or was it dinnington? Not Worksop From what I've seen wagons were backed in from the down main , and the exit was to the up main at the other end.
  16. There's a great picture of 1 on darnall shed out there on the internet, and I've heard previously of a picture of them on a coal train through Woodhouse ( never seen the shot)
  17. The ETH was turned off when they arrived at Sheffield westbound, for the climb up the Sheaf valley and across the peaks
  18. Couple of good threads on this forum as already about these vans , I found them by searching on Google for PWA wagons Sorry cut and paste is beyond me on this phone :-)
  19. Brilliant, thanks Andy. Gluing underneath makes a lot of sense. I was thinking of drilling through the wagon with the bolt head on the deck, but that would require a load to cover it. I've got a pair of turbots that can have the same treatment too.
  20. Can you describe what you did as I'm building one and have run into trouble with the bogie fastenings breaking.
  21. Sorry the question was unclear, what was the total number of vehicles using mk1 under frame and "mk2e style" windows . There's two in this thread , is that it?
  22. Does anyone know many of these MK1.5 type vehicles were built? First time I've seen them apart from the one a few pages back , you learn something new...
  23. Just thinking about the portal, I don't know if it's the camera angle but the road appears to be following the contours down the hill contrasting with the railway climbing quite steeply. It looks to have two wire catenary in a "Rivelin" style but there's also a rope between the tracks that might suggest haulage by a stationary engine.
  24. Alastair have you seen the image on picturesheffield.com of Ughill Clay mine that looks to be using the same system. I can't post it as it copyright to Sheffield newspapers. Would make a interesting scene
