  1. Hi, this is rather off topic. But relates slightly to the 66s. Is the reason the fallout between hattons and a certain Barwell based manufacturer due to the class 66? I’ve had to use hattons less and less as they don’t stock the models I need anymore, is there any sign of reconciliation as I’m sure both parties could be losing significant business. Sorry that this is rather off topic.
  2. That’s what I first thought, I believe it was in early 2018
  3. Why do we need to re number, I thought the old oak common pack was correct for castle class work. I have been thinking of putting rail tec transfers of the Welshman on my 188/187 pack. May have to do this now.
  4. The problem with the model is that it is such an anticipated release, that was “hyped up” so much by hattons that it was easy to fall short. In today’s climate with rising prices people may not be able to afford many locos a year. For some this may be the only “big” purchase made. I use peco express points with no visible deformities and it runs over them well in one direction but falls off in reverse. I hope some sort of statement is released or the reviews turn against hattons, they had the chance to be different from other manufacturers. By being open, Hornby are beginning to do so, whereas our friends in barwell seem more isolated than ever before.
  5. I had an early release in December, it arrived broken and would not run. It was sent back and arrived again quickly. It runs smoothly, but in one direction it falls off points. The Ews colour is very different compared to my Hornby and Bachmann locos in the same livery. I do not know enough about the prototype to see if the hattons one is correct, apparently the windows and font seem to be wrong. An excellent model hampered by severe design flaws as well as appalling quality control. There also seems to be no response on these issues, I.e hattons making an apology video or addressing the customers, thanks for listening to my experience.
  6. Later Hornby releases have the correct cut down cowlings for Fgw and Gwr powercars.
  7. Gwr still have a small portion but the exhausts are exposed whereas the XC ones have no cowling.
  8. I think if you look on the Lner release, that’s what it should look like. Flat with square holes I think.
  9. exactly my problem, the power cars are technically wrong anyway. Due to the exhaust cowling but it will be a shame if it’s a large difference
  10. I’m extremely anticipating this release, I have the older xc power cars, I know the exhaust cowling would be incorrect for the era but I’m interested to see how the new colour looks.
  11. Nope, both are dc. My 150s and older 166s and 158s are a lot quieter. I think it could be the exposed cardan shafts. But I am hoping the dmus are quieter especially with only one motor on the 121.
  12. I know it’s rather odd, many of the features they bragged about, e.g the speedo cable. Are actually included in the Dapol model, you just have to fit it yourself. They are very nice models but the Bachmann will be better and run nicer.
  13. I wonder if they’ll go for that shade on the new gwr class 150 DMU, the new 158 has a darker glossy paint finish so hopefully it will be on the new sprinter.
  14. Kernow do a GWR green mk3 set, 3 sleepers for about 110
  15. It was really hard to spot, In the back of one of the Hornby magazine videos. They show some Bachmann samples and I saw a green glossy class 57. I think it’s their latest one.
  16. What I noted that in a recent video, I saw that it now looks glossy. Like the 158 and Hornby hst. I own an iep and class 57 with matte paint jobs, it’s realistic on the 800 but looks quite bad on the class 57
  17. Sorry for the confusion I caused, I hoped that my profile picture of a class 220 would suggest that I model more modern eras, the class 57 I was talking about was the new edition from Bachmann, not the steam loco, their 57xx is nice but shows it’s age nowadays. Sorry for any confusion, I’m a novice on this platform!
  18. Should be interesting to compare with dapols offering, I assume the benefits are the lower floor and a better paint job. Personally I have found the Bachmann 158 mechanism rather loud, hopefully this is not the case on the 117/121s.
  19. Saw in a recent video that the new GWR Class 57 will have a glossy finish, will look a lot better than the current matte finish in my opinion.
  20. Excellent news, hopefully it’s a similar finish to the gwr 158 and not the gwr class 57 which is far too matte.
  21. I’m interested to see how this new strategy goes for Bachmann. Some of the stuff announced is already in the shops. I’m rather intrigued that the Gwr Class 150 wasn’t there. I remember it was meant to come out in early 2018 and I’ve heard nothing since, I know the 150 tooling has to be changed. I believe it’s the lavatory window. Again I do have to agree with earlier comments I’m the chain, I feel Bachmann should push or at least try social media. Look at Hattons and Hornby, speaking of hattons what’s the latest on that?
