  1. Wow, I must say the Bachmann model looks glorious, but so does the Dapol one. Hopefully the motor doesn’t fail like it has on a few of my Dapol ones. Given you can now get a Dapol one for as low as £79 and can easily repaint and renumber it for under a £100, I wonder if the Bachmann one will sell. Rather concerned about the gwr 150 121, the Dapol hattons edition didn’t sell, and this one is much more expensive.
  2. The Bachmann model seems to have been lowered in price, as they realise that they can’t compete at its older price. But, although it’s a newer model, the class 40 is much more expensive.
  3. Most models now have issues, but as I’ve said before it was the way this was marketed as being the best 66. And I think those who spent £150+ on a promised class leading model are allowed to criticise it.
  4. How was the noise? I have noticed on the newer 158s that the motor is louder than other units, obviously not a deal breaker just interested.
  5. Thank you for responding, and I agree with your point. However I have noticed a trend from younger members of the hobby like myself, seem to have a prejudice against the brand, due to a certain YouTuber called Sam, sadly he has dragged the name through the mud, hopefully you can do a stunning 45, the base of the model looks brilliant, and prove them wrong, I’m sorry if any of my comments are offensive and if you disagree please say so, but there is a significant amount of who are influenced by his ‘reviews’
  6. Excellent photos, those wipers look a bit chunky, for price it should be etched like in realtrack models. But I must say, the level of detail is brilliant!
  7. Is it? Personally I think it’s quite gentle given what has been put out in the past and even quite recently. For example the wide 47, the western, early 33s there’s more. I like Heljan, I have plenty of their products and want them to do well. But the response has left me slightly worried, hopefully I’m wrong, as I really want a proper seal beam 45, but The errors are reminiscent of years gone by.
  8. Must say, it is really refreshing to see a manufacturer representative on the forums and someone who clearly cares about the product. Looking forward to the peaks, but as I’ve stated before, this model for its price and demographic needs to be correct. The other model, which is actually quite an old body shell, got the basic shape right. I really hope something can be rectified, and hopefully it will improve the Heljan stigma and produce a brilliant model, take care!
  9. A real shame, but the criticism is deserved. This model is designed to actually be a definitive class 45, from what we’ve seen, I don’t think it is. However it’s early stages, but I am worried, old habits die hard. Hopefully Heljan can turn this around, now slightly worried about the 00 gauge class 47 project.
  10. Probably means Bachmann are saving for later releases, next batch might have new liveries or destinations
  11. Kernow have had decorated samples of the gwr 150 units for a while, however they did not have the electrical gubbins in them
  12. Wonder if Kernow or anyone else would do a local lines class 158, but given how their 150/2 has stuck around for a while, I doubt they will. Bachmann themselves said they couldn’t do it, then the realtrack 143 comes out. Shame local lines is now gone and probably won’t be done.
  13. The problem is, this model was hyped up to be class leading. The terrible qc and I believe some livery and shape errors have caused anger. The axlebox issue is probably the smallest problem, still no word if the next batch will actually be assembled with glue by hattons
  14. Wonder if shaw plan might do some metal ones, just thinking out loud
  15. I completely agree, as someone who often defends price rises, due to the improvements in human rights, higher costs of living etc. I did not mean to come across as bashing Bachmann or saying why can’t we still have 2012 prices. However, my point was,not new models are overpriced (some can be questionable) it was just how interesting the price has risen, I took the 108 as it’s a Bachmann dmu that has been relatively unchanged, and has risen significantly. And we often forget how much models used to be, anyway back on topic, eagerly anticipating these dmus hoping Bachmann can do more variants in due course!
  16. It is interesting to see the price rises, at least with a 117 you get a new tooling, unlike the new 108 at its rather high price for a very good but older tooling
  17. Maybe if you look back at old Hattons catalogs and see 108s for less than £60 you might feel differently, but I agree with the tech fitted and the look of the model they seem to be fabulous and worth the price
  18. Recently ran into this problem on a 122, motor running but no movement. Trying most of the remedy’s in the chat and it doesn’t seem to be helping, any ideas, think I can still send it back.
  19. Having 4 Dapol ones in my fleet, I’m excited for the Bachmann offering. However the Dapol one is a cracking model. The Bachmann should have the better paint finish and I know some people had motor issues, am interested to see how people react to it, and even if the Bachmann one is considerably better, Dapol still have the 122
  20. Was waiting for this comment, had noticed this on mine. Does ask the question whether this model was properly tested. So many flaws, aside the terrible QC
  21. True, I could see the 118 done like the 205 was. As an exclusive to a retailer, my guess would be kernow but they already have the gwr 150 things
  22. Rails are saying next week, rather exciting. Interesting to see how these sell. Will definitely test the market, hopefully they do well and Bachmann do more dmus 118s etc
  23. Interesting and absolutely marvellous how attentive accurascale are. It is truly refreshing to see a transparent and responsive manufacturer. Wonder how the bigger companies will react. The Hornby 50 is now more expensive than the 55. I love my class 50s but they were built to a price, in 2004.
  24. Wonder if now we will see the prices of Scotrail powercars increase, I believe it happened to the GWR packs and LNER ones when their respective coaches arrived, I could be wrong. But I did notice gwr ones climbing slightly
  25. Agreed they are clearly more suited for that, one thing I have noticed that they do fall down upon against the glr design, Is that they can only work one way. But I suppose that’s a pitiful of using magnets, wonder if we could ever see electromagnetic systems used, the continental scene appears to offer it.
