  1. DB packs arrived, truly stunning models! Despite the fine detail they feel very sturdy and the hood is rather impressive.
  2. My D9009 arrived today, few steps detached and that tiny fuel part, it really is tiny! Wonderful runner, may have some resin on that needs removing. Packaging is massive and I would echo calls about Ice cube part needing changing as it puts a lot of pressure on the loco cab area. Overall, great paint finish, wonderful detail and an awesome runner! Very happy even more excited for other accurascale orders. Well done to all the team!
  3. Call with rails, as cards have changed since deposit was taken. Now money has been taken. Very much looking forward to the deltics arriving in due course. As mentioned the transparency associated with this project has been class leading and should be applauded. Hopefully the hard work has paid off and very soon the sounds of 00 scale deltics wirring along will be prevalent on many a layout. Looking forward to more of your projects! Cheers.
  4. Again, great to celebrate the anniversary and have been sent photos of the announcement, or one of them. Very excited and can’t wait for the model to arrive!
  5. So sample wise, we have seen the early EPs, hand painted BR blue example and the Green sample that has appeared in the Heljan display cases? All of which have had some issues flagged up but from what I gather no response?
  6. Very true, which is why they are probably doing modern liveries and ones that haven’t been offered before. We have taken delivery of 2 new Bachmann 47s, wonderful locos, but not worthy of a whole fleet wide replacement. Given you can pick up older Bachmann ones for £100 or less, the duff market is saturated. That said, so many duffs are needed if modelling the Uk. Onto the 45s, again, excited for the 45/1. But with seal beamers from Bachmann now saturating the market, I do worry for its success. The lack of response on clear issue’s is just unacceptable for a model being produced in 2022. I hope the extended delay of multiple years has rectified some basic shape flaws, but I remain doubtful over the companies track record. (For the record, I have bought and continue to buy many Heljan products) but their streak of clutching defeat from the jaws of victory is well founded. Hope to see the 45 soon.
  7. From what I’ve seen, on many platforms this is not an uncommon remark. I know we often are in an ‘echo chamber’ on these forums etc. But when Sams trains is also calling Hornby overpriced and detail and realism oriented modellers are as well, it’s not good. Aside from the actual model quality dropping. The recent treatment of shops and smaller brands just puts me off even more, as well as the subpar products. Things like delays and price rises are a pain, but often out of the manufacturers control. But it is telling no one else has risen prices like Hornby over the past couple of months. 10% up from 2020, 10% for 2021, 10% for 2022 and some midway 10% in 2021? I think
  8. The same manufacturer who has put the Class 50 all over the new MK2 B blurb as well… I have a few things in order with Hornby this year, castle power-cars and MK3s and an GWR 802. As others have commented on, there seems to be a real lack of passion from the D&E team, even in the heavily edited show this shone through. Hornby are in a lot of danger of losing and have already lost considerable sales from the D&E market, I know we aren’t as large as the steam market, but rakes of wagons and modern locos do add up especially if they were once Hornby models now offered by other brands. So what can Hornby do? More engagement online, they are actually one of the leaders in this aspect except for this forum. Ironically, most of the issues in the past 5 years they have experienced were pointed out on here, livery, tooling problems etc. Excited for the Retooled power-cars, think we currently have 16 pairs on the layout. Although if someone else did a new HST, my order would be cancelled. Which has happened with 56s,CDAs, 31s recently for me. Hope the quality of the models improves and the new 21 pin system pleases those on DCC, if not, Hornby are in real danger of being superseded, if not already on the D&E market. Thanks all, interested to hear others thoughts.
  9. They look very nice, very similar to the SLW ones. Do we know a price of them yet? Will be interesting to compare them, as well as the flawed but rather nice Heljan model.

  11. The new release next to the 2015? 036/070 pack. Seems to no longer have openings doors, they didn’t sit right and were pointless. Running in was fine, overall happy.
  12. It was odd, I’d thought they’d do a load of full fat royal ones. Still a good tooling and a model Hornby have monopoly over. Maybe they heard another manufacturer planning and decided to put out the cheap one, as a warning? Conspiracy theories
  13. Just seen some photos on Instagram on off the LNER Farewell power-cars. Extremely disappointing. Wonky printing, fuzzy borders, lining not fully attached. The silver around the lights looks very poor, hopefully just a one off. https://www.instagram.com/p/CYd0lZhogxD/?utm_medium=copy_link This after 2 price rises and some delays, really worrying if Hornby want to do more BR Blue examples.
  14. I recently found this out with the Bachmann western Pullman. I’m full dc, but Bachmann now say these work on dc. I was not convinced and thought if have to set up the dynamis. I simply put on the train and it worked with sound on DC. Takes more current to get going, but can sit with the lights on, makes brake and startup sounds and many other things. Has really opened my eyes to the possibility of Sound on DC. I’d definitely look into it if you are on DC and the only attraction to DCC is sound.
  15. Maybe they were omitted to get the model out in time as with all the chip and other shortages? Just thinking out loud.
  16. Maybe the people that wanted that very 47 have already got it? So many clamoured for run of the mill bog standard duffs for years. Maybe people are more interested in the less tarted up ones? Will be interesting if future batches focus on show ponies or workhorses?
  17. This has happened to me on nearly all of the new tooling DMUs. Multiple 158s, 159s,117s and 121s. Just requires a simple pop back in.
  18. Merry Christmas! A few of the gifts running. Hope everyone has a restful holiday.
  19. Looking great! An excellent pre Christmas treat. I do hope that the general application and fit and finish will be improved on production models? It’s fine but quite fuzzy and for the cost you’d hope it would be almost perfect. Merry Christmas
  20. Given how everything seems to be fluctuating at the moment, speculation of a changing price probably wouldn’t do a company trying to build a customer base any good. Look at the uproar when Bachmann and Hornby changed prices. Although I believe it was said it was going to be on par with other high detail models. So DC £170-£230? Not a criticism of Cavalex at all, it seems entirely sensible not to give promises of something you can’t keep. But may cause and issue budgeting. And once you pay your deposit, a chunk of the price has gone down already.
