  1. It would be nice, but given Hornby didn’t remove the handrails on their previous D400 attempt I doubt they have the tooling for a smooth nose. This is something I feel other manufacturers could capitalise on…
  2. Although to compete with today’s modern models, this is needed to stand out. And if these 56s are priced on the higher end of the spectrum people will expect innovation and some may want the same features of the Hornby models that they are replacing. But I agree if they are detrimental, I.e rotating fans causing poor running etc (on Hornby models)and the opening doors not sitting right and spoiling the look, they shouldn’t be added. I hope there is adequate testing and that this grid is the ultimate one.
  3. I dread to think what a new 5-car 221 would cost? Heck, a 6-REP would be astronomical. But, selfishly for me, if this does mean more focus on 2 car units, maybe we can get a new 155? From the photos I’ve seen and the words in the BRM review, these look like impressive models. But I still can’t get over the fact that this is very similar to the CEP tooling, which was reduced to as low as £83 at hattons. Like with the new 150s, which I have indulged in the fit and finish seems great, but I wonder if they would have felt slightly more better value. Had they been fitted with the Plux 22 drive system and couplings or something like the 4-TC. But would changing the tooling more, to allow the low floor mechanism be even more expensive, who knows?
  4. Looking at the TMC sales, the CEP was reduced by almost half. I can see these going the same way
  5. I’d love to see 149 again, however it being a limited edition the first time round it’s unlikely. Maybe one for accurascale or someone to tackle? That said the Hornby 50 is impressive for its age and would just need a few tweaks to bring it up to par. Adding a more sophisticated dcc system, removing the gimmicky louvres and actually getting the liveries right.
  6. My GWR one arrived today, really happy with it. Glad to see the inclusion of the NEM BSI coupling
  7. The northern samples show them not fitted, I don’t know enough about 150s to say if this is a later modification or not.
  8. Some shops are now saying in stock. Noticed on 216 samples, it has handrails. The real one currently has these removed? Anyone know when this was done?
  9. How long before we have a range of ‘taste the difference model’s’ instead of superdetail ones?
  10. Very interesting! Wonder if a Grid will follow?
  11. Sorry for the delay, been posting more real life trains! Here’s the next layout update, hope you enjoy.
  12. Looking at Kernows photos, does appear the ETH error has made it into production. A shame but a useful repaint candidate for a blue one.
  13. Their date has been continually moving back, it’s just looking on the Bachmann website and seeing it’s release date change.
  14. Northern and GWR examples now saying June/July on the Bachmann website
  15. The GWR one has the working bsi fitted in the samples, maybe in the detail bag? With the snowploughs etc
  16. Saw this on Facebook, do wonder if it was just a hattons stock email that was worded incorrectly. I know kernow have sold out of a lot of the Hornby hst pre orders already, maybe they are becoming a web exclusive through Hornby? Like the staycation stuff.
  17. As shown here, with the hattons photo of the real thing and the Hornby sample
  18. Noticed in the new engine shed, the samples of the 31s. The Dutch one is a /1, but has an eth fitting, is this correct?
