  1. That’s the other option! - I’ll have a go at resin and post some pics when I do them, cheers Jerry
  2. Hi Nick, if I may ask- which windows are you using ? I’m debating casting my own resin ones but if there are alternatives out there that would be great. I tried Bachmann and they haven’t even got scrap shells! Cheers Jerry
  3. Bit of a delayed update for the last few days as carer duties took over unfortunately but here’s what’s on the go, GBRF 60 which will become 60021 continuing with blue - Mainline blue onto a vitrains 37 more blue with a pair of FGW HSTs being renumbered and weathered and BR blue D400 which I did sometime ago but the owner wanted a bit more dirt on the roof so that’s underway 90047 has now caught up and weathering nearly complete, and from the other side lastly this must rate as the worst model to come across my workbench - the Bachmann 166. The plastic is brittle, the windows are awful and what glue they used I have no idea, it would have made a neater job if I took it apart with a grenade it will be a silk Ouse from a sows ear this one....
  4. Hi Matt, great to see you working again on @Richmond Park -and better news is that impulse purchase wasn’t another 57!!!
  5. Few completions today with 37055 resprayed from mainline blue into tatty RFD followed by 60033, etched plates details and a weathering Last up the 90s have been on here already but now finished and 048
  6. 047 is nearly done but needs its lights and freightliner branding - I debated sticking its nose in just for the picture
  7. Freightliner time - three in the old grey!
  8. 90044 is now finished - pristine apart from a bit of frame dirt, couldn’t resist a quick pic with 43 and 48 who aren’t quite so well cared for! I was hoping to have 047 in the shot too but it’s not quite ready yet...
  9. Late night update but quite a bit done today. On the Freightliner 90s these are from the 037 model but need the different under frame box and roof can Ariel. Resin replacement seen here: And an unmodified and modified for comparison These are now ready for weathering but ahead of them are 66083 60033 with its roof now done and lastly 37055 hopefully next pics of these will be fully finished
  10. Lots of bits being worked on today including starting the patches and detail painting on the Freightliner 90s and with 048 a driver figure for a 60 which is going in 60033, this has started to have a few washes on the roof together with 66083, rubbing down has started on 44006 to become 44009 another 60 which will be going into GBRF has been primed, last up 37055 has had a lot of detail painting prior to airbrush work
  11. More work in the Freightliner 90s today, chassis mods with the white metal buffers going on then nearly last of the decals with the white background for the red stripes and Freightliner branding still to add then the etch on 044, the others are being modelled later in their careers so will have the painted out patches
  12. Currently working on 4 triple grey Freightliner 90s, one is a rework of a previous job - 047 but the other 3 are new. First job was black windscreen pillars here masked up And here’s the four painted and 44 and 48 having received new numbers Finding the individual differences from loco to loco is fun and earlier in the thread I added the green door on 47 is well known. What I hadn’t seen is the grey door on 48 the owner sent me in a pic so that’s been duly added!
  13. Thanks, after the 153s I thought it would be easy but turned into a long job, I do like it though! Cheers Jerry
  14. Actually managed to get a completion today, 158 into TFW livery!
  15. A lot of bits moved on today including; Flint grey on the 37 and 90, the 90 just needed to cover where the old RFD branding was abd with the masking removed Next job was to make the mirrors for the 66, etched brass and square section wire has created these which although not as fine as a 3D print will survive being boxed and handling on a layout Another 90 with Barbie blue going on Then top coats for the logics lastly a green door for 90047
  16. I spoke too soon about Yesterday and today been train days but have got a few things done. The 3D printed logics have have extra sanding and primer as lines which were invisible in grey were clearly there in the red.. everything flattened and new coat of ultra fine primer on The 66 has had the gold band resprayed so that’s moving along nicely I have also finished the decals on the TFW 158 which will get its satin coat tomorrow before reassembly tricky task is masking and spraying the yellow on the glazing, can’t take the masks off yet as too much chance of damaging the paint- not worth the risk! Lastly just starting a first coat of muck on the cargo wagons, 24 of these (12 pairs) so not a quick job! That’s it for today....
  17. First update in a few days as been otherwise engaged. I’m trying to get similar paint jobs all together so EWS and Freightliner are mainly the target at the moment. A lot of my work at the mo is refinishing existing paint jobs so here’s 90047 1/2 cleaned and then with the side clean awaiting new branding and a few other tweaks to be done such as the green cab door, new buffers and TDM cables Another 3 tone grey project is 055 going grey from Mainline with the rail grey added Then back to primer with a 66 being primed ready for be gold bands and another 90 primed ready to become EWS Scotrail. Hopefully tomorrow and Friday are train days so a few more updates than of recent!
  18. Bit of work in progress, a first coat of Gulf red on the 3D print SA Logic locos Still a couple of bits to fettle... and the Hornby 90 in Freightliner again still being worked on but you get the gist of it! Thats it, new beer needed ready for the second half....
  19. Back from a short break and plenty of projects to get on with Ive had these Revolution IZAs some time. They’re a really good model and beautifully detailed m. Even better is not one bit had fallen off in transit unlike some other wagons I’ve had recently. Here’s a pic of one just out the box and here the bottom one has had a wash to bring out the detail as the of start the weathering process - not a quick job with 24 wagons to do Next up from the queue is a 90 for remedial work on a wobbly cant rail - and no - it wasn’t me! It als needed a bogie replacement as did another chassis so out with the toolkit These can go back together over the next few days.
  20. Crazy week so apologies for lack of updates. The celebrity Cravens is now finished:- and from you he other side- Whilst weathering the Cravens and the paints were mixed have started on weathering a 27 Lastly another TFW 153 is completed, this time 153320, again with the NHS Rainbow and showing the PRM mods Going to be away this week so won’t be any updates for a bit but back soon!!
  21. I used to work next to Euston and picked a few of them up on passenger back then as they were being delivered, nice livery and in the as built condition but a very narrow operating window.
  22. Not to mention the TDM cables fitted in their original position, the coach rubbing plates and cut buffers - it’s a very limited timespan!
  23. I wish Bachmann would produce more liveries as it would suit me as I would much rather be doing renumbering or weathering work than total resprays. There will always be the odd livery that won’t be covered (whatever class we are talking about) and there will always be a demand for these. As a business I provide what customers want -it’s not me cashing in as the margins on a respray aren’t anyway near that of weathering- it’s why a lot of people don’t do them!
