  1. Quite a lot of places still have them We still have more than 10 in stock, and have for two weeks.
  2. The certificates have arrived! Complete with holographic foil Trains4u logos! They are a little bit different. They are slightly smaller than the box dimensions, so they can slide inside to keep safe.
  3. Ours have arrived. We have quite a few! We are just adding them to the website http://www.trains4u.com/p/42431/Hornby-R3550-Peckett-0-4-0ST-883-Lilleshall-Co
  4. Just to let everyone know. We will be soon be revising our selling price on the models we are getting into stock. We will be honouring our previous pre-order price of £29.95 for all orders placed by 31st July. From the 1st August our price will be £32.50 each.
  5. It really isn’t interesting and doesn’t imply anything It is a mutually agreed delivery date.
  6. The Delivery date to us has been confirmed by Bachmann as Friday 21st September For those who would like a weathered version, These are available for an additional £35 Matt, our in-house weathering expert, has produced a sample of the weathering we will provide All weathering will be done in-house and we can tailor to your specifications We provide custom weathering services at great prices, so please consider us if you need any existing stock weathered or renumbered
  7. Sorry for being a bit late back to this one I’ve sound fitted a few of these It needs a bit of surgery, and bravery! Basically, I use an ESU 6-pin micro with a sugar cube speaker. You can fit the full double baffle as supplies in the ESU speaker kit. Off with the cab as per my first set of instructions Then carefully prise off the cab baseplate, trying not to damage it. I then file off the firebox detail to provide a flat surface for the speaker and cut a notch in the rear bulkhead for the wires. The decoder and wiring loom can be stuck up in the coal bunker, feed the speaker wires through the notch, and glue the speaker to the cab front, correctly oriented, so that the wires are towards the cab floor, I then give it a test at this stage. I then refit the cab floor, with a spot of glue if necessary ensuring the 6-pin plug is fed through the hole. Plug in the decoder, refit the cab and test again. I also fit a crew, to disguise the speaker, though they do need some drastic amputations to fit!
  8. Peterborough (It’s in my signature and my profile)
  9. Yes We open every Sunday 10:30-15:30
  10. BRM have published an Unboxing Video of our limited edition class 37 on YouTube. The individually numbered certificates are being printed this week, ready for the models to arrive
  11. We now have the B tanks in stock at Trains4u http://www.trains4u.com/b/251/RevolutioN-Trains
  12. We’ve had a box of production samples flown in. (So they’ve been made) They look great! I’ll follow up with some better pictures soon.
  13. Judging by the pic in this earlier post http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/98498-Dapol-00-gauge-lswr-b4/page-15&do=findComment&comment=3185987 it is a cored motor, (5 pole skew wound) but it is open frame as opposed to a can motor.
  14. For those too young/old to get the KLF reference https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_Foundation_Burn_a_Million_Quid (I'm just chuckling at the thought of AndyY with floppy hair and an alcopop raving to KLF)
  15. Is this the announcement they are supposed to be making in a few days time? Is this not embargoed?
  16. Nozzles blocking after use is a known issue - if you use the sprays a lot, it wouldn't hurt to get a can of airbrush cleaner. Pop the nozzle on and give a short spray through to keep it clean. You can get spare nozzles.
  17. The TEA shown is of a design not yet made and is very different from the models produced by Bachmann or Revolution I believe the closest relative would be the ancient Tri-ang/Hornby TEA (Which should have been retired in the 1990s) The BBA is a good call - Steel wagons are always a popular choice Now, How many can I sell? (I'll be in touch soon about these Alex)
  18. Our stock of MJA wagons is arriving this afternoon
  19. it was 10p - it was a bargain whichever way you cut it. Is it worth doing up? it was 10p! (BTW - they sell by the literal bucketload at £4 a pop - so you could always flog it on for a stupendous profit)
  20. But if you cannot afford to replace it, your business model is unsustainable. The margins are not fantastic, there aren't many model shop owners driving around in range rovers. Profiteering is taking a scarce item and selling it for twice the RRP. but then it happens anyway - it is business and it is market forces in play - you can make up your mind as to the morality, but ultimately, the shop owner is there to make money (Hopefully doing something they love), but they still have bills to pay and mouths to feed, and if the opportunity is there to make the maximum profit, why would you not take it? It's not baby milk or medicine.
  21. This is a complicated one - and a subject that has come up a few times in the past. I went for many years holding off on putting up stock prices until the absolutely necessary. This was fine when annual increases were in the 2-3% region. However, in recent years, price increases have varied between 5-15%. In the event of larger increases, if prices are not put up, you lose your selling margin on replacing the stock just sold. so in order to stay in business and pay the bills, prices must go up. Also, with continually stocked items, at what point do you raise prices - Generally we would wait until we re-stock with new items at the new price - and any remaining stock will also be raised. it is bad practice to have the same item on the shelf at different prices - The customer could, rightly, ask for all of the items at the lower price - although this does not have to be honoured. and is a problem that continues to occur in my shop (Despite repeated discussions with my staff!) I can see your argument, but ultimately, the shop is a business and needs to make money - if they are pricing their items at, or below MSRP, they are not trying to rip anyone off. It's no good selling a packet of wheels for £12 if it costs £12 to replace them. Though they really ought to question whether their overall pricing strategy is good if they are not selling any of their wheels. However - The retailer needs to know that it is illegal to overprice a lower value with a higher one. you can do it the other way around, but if there is a thick wad of labels, with increasing prices, then they could fall foul of Trading Standards. - again, this has occurred in my shop, and I made it very clear to all my staff that it is unacceptable.
  22. Hi Ben, I neglected to photograph the underside But I’m sure Cav or Alex will oblige. Needless to say the detail is excellent, with fine wire piping, door mechanisms and brake gear. For those interested, I tried some #18 Kadees on the wagons and they are a perfect fit. The height of the NEM pocket is good and it has no vertical movement (so no floppy couplings)
  23. Thanks to Cav and Alex for visiting today. I have to say, the models are absolutely stunning. Here are a few pics of the wagons from today. I think it is reasonable to say that this wagon is up there with the very best, and perhaps sets the new bar. The finesse of the design and printing means that these could easily be mistaken as O scale from the images. The wagon weighs in at a substantial 59g thanks to the zinc alloy chassis I believe it may also be the first 4 wheel wagon with a close coupling mechanism. There are a few minor details to be tweaked, but on the whole, this is an astounding first effot from Cavalex, and I’m very excited about obtaining my stock as they are sure to fly off the shelves. And of course Cav and Alex:
  24. If anything, it will be a good excuse to avoid the wedding!
  25. Just a reminder that Alex and Cav from Cavalex will be with us tomorrow (Saturday 19th May) between 09:00 and 12:00 to showcase their new PGA wagon, with painted samples of both Redland and LaFarge liveries on display. I’m sure Cav and Alex will be happy to answer your questions, so please feel free to pop along and say hello. We still have availability of wagons in both liveries at £29.95 each, if you wish to place an order.
