  1. We aren't allowed to source pre used breakers from the Internet or suppliers in my company, as if they go wrong and go on fire or don't trip in the required time, a "got them from to ebay to help out" excuse isn't going to go down well.
  2. Late to the party here but I am pretty sure they ran 303 9 car sets for special events such as tall ships at Greenock and the Scottish Golf Open at Troon. It required extra platform staff at Paisley for dispatch and were limited stop. I can't remember any further details, best part of 25 years ago this would have happened.
  3. There is also a grey Transrail livery one. I picked one up a year or so back.
  4. Johnstone was my local station in the late 80s and there were double headed 37 coal or ore train at least twice an hour each direction. Thrown into the mix 20s and 26s on engineer trains and 47s on the Stranraer trains it was a great time.
  5. Just seen this thread. I remember being issued the Maroon South West one and having to wear it with the white and red striped shirt. Talk about a clash of colours!
  6. Don't normally post here but drove through Hurlford last week and thought of Jock as I often do.Funny how you end up associating places with people. Even stranger I didn't even know the man personally. Caught up with the thread and was saddened to hear he had disappeared. Sadder now at his passing. Rest easy Jock.
  7. Just compared the pics to the original 37672 in Transrail and its a different body moulding. I think the original is the right moulding with the correct cantrail grilles. I'll probably get one anyway.
  8. No, didn't use ehattons, just hattons.co.uk. This may be my problem. I'll need to remember next time. Thanks for that.
  9. Just had a frustrating 10 mins looking for the Hornby 9f in the loco section of the website. Search either returned no items or a seemingly random list of unrelated items. I wish they would put the second hand, sorry pre owned stuff elsewhere. Now ordered from another establishment. While scrolling through the list I found a Hornby class 25 titled poor runner and in the description a smooth runner. It's issues like this that are eroding my confidence in Hattons.
  10. Thanks for replying Paul. Thanks for reminding me about Maidstone Barracks too. Another classic. Hope to see Tonbridge West one day, Midland Railex might be my chance.
  11. Just been looking through some old magazines and found my Modelrail supplement for June 1994 with an article on Tonbridge West Yard. What an amazing looking layout for the time and it still looks as good. After reading tge article in 1994 I decided I must get into Southern region EMUs and spent all my pocket money on an MTK 2EPB. It finally made its way into the bin after my last clear out Christmas last.
  12. Sometimes I find the pictures without locos to be the most fascinating. The one above with Lincoln Coal yard I find to be mesmerizing. The old truck, the conveyer belt, and the wagon lift make for a most interesting scene. Good work recording it.
  13. Thanks for that. I did'nt know about CBA`s. You learn something new every day.
  14. I wonder what that CDA hopper is doing in the Peak District in C14392 ?
  15. I like your EWS heavyweights. I wish Bachmann would get around to doing one.
  16. David, Just a thank you for continuing to post such fantastic pictures. It shows how much we have los,t even in the past 30 years. Long may your pictures continue. David
  17. I have managed to squeeze a bit of modelling time in and unpacked my 37174 and 37242 and I am generally very pleased with them. However has anyone else noticed if the buffers sit slightly above horizontal. I noticedt with 174 straight away then after a few minutes noticed 242 was the same. Just wondering or if it is just mine after a trip in the post.
  18. We hopefully will be back next summer, Sydney sounds like a place that wpuld be worth a few days visit. Hopefully the trains will still be there. David
  19. Sorry to hear another part of Eastern Canada's railroads are about to vanish, Dava. I spent some of the summer in Annapolis Royale, down near Liverpool and up north of Dartmouth on the Southern and Eastern shores of Nova Scotia and it seemed I was never far away from an abandoned line. It is good they are in use as cycle ways and hiking routes.
  20. The 37's look good. The weathering looks extremely light.
  21. To expand on my earlier post, my 8 year old and his five year old sister are only interested in what they can do with the locos. As left the house this morning I had a look at his trainset in the livingroom and at the moment James has 15 open wagons and box vans from Texas Homebase to Weetabix and Kit kat wagons loaded with lego spacemen and on the inner circle we have the giant Toby pulling a old rake of Hornby coaches. The aesthetics don't matter it's the play value. The Bachmann Donald, Douglas and Emily are consigned to the sidings as they keep derailing or the tender keeps detaching or they cannot pull enough. I don't know about Hornbys marketing strategy but I know they'll sell. Roll on Oliver.
  22. My 8 year old has just put an order in for Edward for Christmas and he is pleased as the Hornby ones run better and pull more than the Bachmann ones. He is the target audience and he seems pleased.
  23. You have done well getting this far in such a short time. The red ballast looks pretty good. I thought it was going to be to bright but I like it. Keep up the good work.
  24. Ebay has emailed me today with this. No idea what it is made of or why it's worth £50. Don't imagine Hornby will be best pleased. http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/161681545986?nav=SEARCH
