  1. I see what you mean and 596 does seem to be like that, but Hal Nail’s post shows them closer together. For me, I wasn’t going to buy them straight away anyway. I’m expecting them to be discounted over time and would probably be happy to get some at the £150 mark in six months or so, as the concerns so far aren’t enough to stop me. But that’s just me…
  2. Well now, that’s looking pretty good to my untrained eyes. Is it a worthy adversary to the Bachmann version? Who knows, but first impressions are promising. There’s several liveries that interest me that Bachmann have not done yet, so I’m watching with interest!
  3. 053, which was mid Glamorgan, was the only other one I thought and they weren’t named in 1982.
  4. Merehead, Ogmore Castle, Taff Merthyr, Richard Trevithick, Western Mail and Oystermouth? Quite a few liveries still to be done, so hopefully a second run can be slotted in sometime.
  5. If it achieved the purpose of driving down the ridiculous asking prices of second hand blue/grey Bachmann mk2f’s, then I’m all for a new range of mk2d’s and e’s. Maybe the wrong thread though… Anyhow…. Looking forward to my mk2b’s and c’s immensely!
  6. They do. I have used it for exactly that reason and have two on order. Be warned though, they are due this month and Leigh has already asked for final balance payments.
  7. I too have had nothing but top service from Kernow, but I wonder if I can ask a question of those associated with the shop; why do you not offer payment via PayPal or Klarna or similar? From a selfish point of view, I currently prefer to pay in no interest instalments and was wondering if that was something you could introduce if the future?
  8. Great to hear. I’ll certainly be wanting those. Any idea of timescales as I would like to get them running asap.
  9. Is the top picture of Monarch likely to be circa 1986? There’s what looks like, unless my eyes deceive me, an inter city livery air con coach at the back of the formation. Loving all the pictures though. Keep them coming!
  10. Yes, they both interest me as well. 37371; renumbered from 37147 in mid 1988? Canton petroleum sector allocated? Doing a bit of research earlier and it seems that this had a black head code panel, certainly at the no.2 end from fairly early on, but I am struggling to see that the no.1 end was similarly adorned. All pictures I can see on Flickr don’t seem to give me much help. Anyone know any different?
  11. Interesting that Hattons seem to have a placeholder on their website for an Accurascale Heavyweight class 37/7. We all know they are coming as can been seen by HTG’s 37714, but looks like further iterations aren’t far off!
  12. Not many after it was moved to its final position though. I’ve looked countless times and can’t find anything. I’ve seen a couple of the train in transit but nothing of the actual site.
  13. I’ll predict the Bachmann one, if it arrives, won’t beat the Cavalex model on either quality or price. I’m a sucker for a class 56. Got two on order (008 & 093) and eyeing up a third, so looking forward to these immensely.
  14. Just found this thread! I lived in Woodley in my youth and was regularly on my bike dropping down there on a Saturday and school holidays to see what the loco was. This must have been 1983 to 1988 ish. As far as I can remember 99% of the time it was a Stratford/Ripple Lane allocated 37 or 47, but occasionally a rarer allocated loco turned up. Poor Malcolm and Gordon in the ticket office used to have to, twice a day, go and operate the ground frame to enable the train to access the depot and yes, it wasn’t a big place so I think it was only load seven. The route it took was across the North London line, drop down onto the GWML at Acton and onwards to Reading where it was routed onto the goods lines at the back of platform 9/10. There the loco ran round. Then it was routed onto the Southern and down to Earley where it performed a ‘Z’ move from up line to down line (and the rear of the train was then in the down platform at Earley) and another ‘Z’ move to deposit the tanks in the depot. On the return with the empties, it did the same ‘Z’ moves but departed towards Waterloo where I think it picked up the NLL at Clapham and via Kensington. As someone has said, it arrived in the morning peak and left early afternoon. I don’t remember it being open when I started work and commuted daily from 1988, but the remnants survived a while before it was lifted and houses built on it. Thanks for the memories and having stood on Early station not twenty minutes ago, this took me back.
  15. Ever thought of the Heavy Tractor Groups model of 37714 in metals (in conjunction with Accurascale)?
  16. IRC

    New OO gauge Class 73

    No, no tail lights.
  17. I left it out as Bachmann are doing it, albeit in engineers grey, but I’m sure nobody would turn this iteration of it down!
  18. I see we are on page 188, so I will just leave this here. I’ll be back when we get to pages 260 and 261!
  19. True that. I remember seeing it at Reading in its initial livery with small stick on numbers and thinking ‘what the heck is that’?!?
  20. When do we see the next run of these I wonder? I could do with some yellow cradle, trainload coal HAA’s for my late 80’s layout.
  21. Wasn’t it mentioned that the Accurascale exclusive would be announced in a ‘few weeks’? Unlikely to be a class 37 then this weekend, but you never know.
  22. Can I ask a question to anyone that might be more knowledgeable than I am at this time; I‘ve realised that spare body shells could be a good a relatively cheap way of looking like you have more locomotives than you actually have! So my question is; are the chassis interchangeable for any body? Would, for example, the body of 47444, which is available on the website, work with the chassis of 47436, which I have? I appreciate that the ETH position differs on some locos and probably swapping a 47/4 with a 47/0 or 47/3 might not be a great idea, but does it matter too much? Thanks in advance.
