Class 50, By Accurascale
IRC replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Absolutely marvellous! Slightly surprised no Sir Edward Elgar in this run. -
Would warrant a black head code if it was named 1980’s condition wouldn’t it?
-
Great to see this today. The detail is exceptional. I have to ask though - I visited your layout three times over a period of time and those 2 x 37’s on the china clay hoods in the loop never moved! Was I just unlucky???

Never officially a 37/8 sub class was there? Weren’t they all 37/7? 701 to 799 were former split box types and 800 to 899 were centre head codes as you are alluding and all ‘heavyweights’ as apposed to the 37/5 (501 to 699). -

Isn’t it easier to list what we won’t see?!?! Sounds expensive and I can’t wait! -

Are the 37/5’s and 37/7’s the same tooling or are there subtle differences? What it does allow Accurascale to do is what Bachmann have done; namely produce multiple iterations of the same tooling in short timescales with livery differences. Where Bachmann have produced multiple 37/4’s in their initial run A/S could produce multiple 37/7’s in Railfreight grey, Trainload petroleum and Trainload coal (and others but I model late eighties so am being selfish 😄) alongside 37714 and I know it would cost me a pretty penny! -

Yes, but Accurascale’s announcement was November 2019. Bachman have continued with their version of 043 for another near three years with that knowledge. I’d be very surprised if Bachmann were that advanced in their timeline that they couldn’t have done something about it. Anyway, we are where we are… -

Always found it bizarre seeing freight locos and dedicated ones at that, wearing intercity swallow! -

Oh to have been a fly on the walls of Accurascale Towers this morning! I can imagine it must have been a very interesting morning, hence the communication earlier. Looking forward to the run 2 announcement ‘in the next few weeks as the mail suggests’. The announcement from Bachman today has at least whetted the appetite and got us talking. If you can maintain the undoubted quality of your previous releases and maintain the price from run 1, then I don’t see why you shouldn’t continue to be hugely successful and set the bar high. Ian. -
I don’t get why they have done 043 either? Why go toe to toe with one of your competitors? You’ll then be judged on the build quality, which A/S looks to be pretty darn good and price, which A/S win hands down (currently). I’m no expert but could Bachmann not have done 027 or 081?!? Choice is what we as customers would like, not duplication. Bearing in mind A/S announced their class 37 in November 2019, surely Bachmann could have changed their numbering plans? So we await the A/S announcement in a couple of months and hope for some different liveries.

No 37/5 or 37/7 subclass or have I completely misread that?
-
I think that’s pretty much a given and Fran has alluded that round two of the 37’s will be coming in a few months, but this seems like a brand new announcement to me.

704 In Railfreight grey would be nice please. -
093 looks great. Looking forward to receiving it.

When I was younger I used to Holiday in Llandudno on a regular basis and actually caught the Paddington - Llandudno service on a couple of occasions. It was definitely only an SO service. One of the years can’t have been very interesting haulage but one year IS based 47517 turned up on the service, presumably to get it back north as it worked to Llandudno and then I believe back to Crewe where it was removed for more local traction. The service only lasted a couple of years and was an odd one (although welcome as we lived in Reading). Once it had been withdrawn, we were faced with a Reading - BNS leg, then a change for an eight car DMU combination. That was fun as a holiday service! We went back to driving after that….

I’m excited and nervous for my bank account all at the same time! Got to be another kettle hasn’t it? Seems only fair (and saves my bank account!)

37093? -
They are all different sizes and depends on the speed required through the turnout. Some short ones can be as low as 5/10 mph within yards, whilst those in the main running lines can be 100mph + and will obviously be much bigger as the turnout is much shallower..
-
A second run you say?!? Sounds great! A poll seems a good idea and makes your customer feel they are part of the process. As a late 80’s devotee, a Crewe built, unnamed trainload coal, trainload petroleum (was it just 56036?) and a Cardiff namer in early rail freight (Taff Merthyr or similar) would get my vote. Looking forward to your announcements on your other projects this year.

Two class 50’s; one in a fictitious livery and one in a livery it carried for circa three years? My money is safe for now. Would like to have seen an I/C Executive livery HST. Maybe next year?
-
Yes, see what you mean and it does seem that the competition have got this area right. Maybe we are procrastinating over nothing and all will be ok in the end, but you’d have thought Heljan would have said something by now. Shame really as I was looking forward to 47555 following me around for the rest of my life, like it did when I was young!

Fingers crossed this happens from one manufacturer or another. The second hand prices of some of the power cars in certain liveries is ludicrous. £500 + wasn’t it for a pair of IC Executive ones a couple of months ago?
