  1. Just to get the right amount of brightness and leave it at that. I can live with a compromise. Thanks to those who pointed out that reds will be bright--mine certainly are. My current set-up is powered by a Bachmann train-set controller, but it seems to fail regularly with all lights out, until I manage to re-set it, sometimes by changing direction with the slide switch or by switching off . I'm wondering if it's not really suitable for this application.
  2. I'd be grateful for recommendations on controllers on which the brightness of the signals can be adjusted. TIA.
  3. Can I please have recommendations for either an enamel (preferred) or an acrylic colour for the brown colour seen on steam locos.
  4. Can anyone recommend a source? I'm looking to service my Farish Class 20 and need to remove the body. The screws are difficult to remove and replace and I dread being unable to fix the body back on. Thanks in anticipation.
  5. Not much reaction on here! Now if it were a 45 or 46.............!
  6. Hi Jonas, Just to clarify, do you discard the cab interior or re-fit it in some way as your photo seems to suggest?
  7. Thanks for the kind comments chaps. None of the items were perfect/complete so it didn't seem right to seek a payment. I'm just glad they've gone to a good home.
  8. Great to see the Scottish Brits with the new tender for variety.
  9. BR introduced blue foam windscreen protectors at some stage--presumably fitted with straps passing through the front doors. Best to ignore this to save your great work on the wiper marks!
  10. I would have thought it would be much safer on the train.
  11. 2 x Minitrix Warships resprayed maroon FYE (Spartan) and green (Dragon)--some glazing missing. Minitrix 9F shortened body resprayed--some valve gear detached. 2 x Farish Poole Class 20 blue and green FYE--some glazing missing. Farish Poole Class 47 blue--lacks battery box. Farish Poole Class 25 chassis with Class 20 bogies and Silver Fox Baby Deltic body green/off white--glazing incomplete. Farish early China Class 55 chassis complete. Farish Poole Class 55 chassis--lacks battery box. Would prefer to send in one package.
  12. I'll certainly go for a single-chimney one with the BR1C tender, though a pity they haven't introduced the really impressive typical ECML BR1F one. I've never had any problems with my existing double-chimney one, which had the sprung pony from the start.
  13. It's a pity that Dapol don't introduce their magnetic and plain buckeyes for OO as well as N; I would have thought that there'd be a big market, especially as you don't need magnetics for all your stock if you run fixed formations or don't need to shunt much.
  14. Mine's ok through Peco code 55 small radius points.
  15. Sorry to hear that--my sympathies are with you. I started a thread somewhere about the current 47 being more 'fussy' through points than other Farish diesels. The received wisdom was to carefully file down the gear covers, testing as you go. We should perhaps remember the difficult introduction for the new 47; I suspect the mods carried out to correct the bogie gap were not a complete re-design of the bogie.
  16. That's quite prototypical! Wheelflats would be good too! Seriously, just put a drop of plastic-compatible oil on the end of an opened-out paper-clip or pin and that'll do the trick. If you really want to take the wheelset out, do as you thought in your question.
  17. We can only hope at this stage. The next announcement is in May I think--anyone aware of the date?
  18. I assume you mean the Peak, not the Bulleid! If only they'd announce them in advance--I don't mind a wait--but someone else could take the opportunity and dive in.
  19. Even more terrific is the prototypical close-coupling of these wagons. I've fitted mine with Dapol long buckeyes (the short ones are just too short for the Cemflos); even with these, I thought buffer-locking would be a distinct possibility, but happily, they negotiate Peco small-radius code 55 points without problems.
  20. Looking forward to further news on HLJ Simon. It became part of my routine to see what you'd been up to . Hoping I won't have to wait too long.....
  21. I've had to complain about 'Profile' on Radio 4 this morning during which mention was made of the subject's hobby of model railways. You've guessed it--the theme from 'Thomas the Tank Engine' was played during that part of the programme. I recommended the producer had a look at 'Heaton Lodge Junction' to show him/her the error of their ways.
  22. If it really is that slow, why not send it to DCC Supplies for rectification?
  23. I have a box of loco bodies (Classes 25,33,47,50, 52 & 55 plus Dapol 86) and Mark 1 and 2D coach bodies for disposal. All in good condition, some with nice weathering of roofs and underframes. Also some loco and coach bogies, battery boxes, couplings and pick-ups. Cost of postage would be appreciated or collection from Hornchurch.
