  1. It seems there are several 'brands' of this one. Mine's a 'Trumpeter' and is identical to the Badger one. All these are highly recommended for airbrushing. The Tamiya paint stirrers are great too if you've got an old tin of thick paint before using the battery ones or for small brush-painting jobs.
  2. Some more competition in N gauge would be welcome. I don't understand why Hornby has only dipped its toes into British N with the Brighton Belle. Just imagine, e.g., those superb LNER pacifics joining the market.
  3. Drax chimney too please! I make that almost 6m high in O gauge!
  4. The steps were painted rail blue before they weathered down, so black will do!
  5. Looking good John. I assume you're modelling the period 1981 and immediately after. I'm pretty sure the yellow step edges didn't feature then, or even in the early INTERCITY era.
  6. Hoping some Presflos will feature on 'Heaton Lodge Junction' eventually--I imagine they must have run through the real location.
  7. My 03 and 04 shunt my yard with a 'Conflat' wagon at the rear for when they venture on to the main line (for them to be recognised by the track circuiting). I've fitted the Conflat with a red tail lamp, but now wonder if I should fit a white lamp too. I have the impression that diesel shunters themselves run with both red and white lamps illuminated as they are constantly changing direction. Any help on this will be appreciated.
  8. That's brilliant to give purchasers such a choice of headcodes. Other manufacturers please take note.
  9. I am still reeling from the sheer amount of effort and skill that Simon put into building HLJ. I went to see it yesterday and was overwhelmed by its size. Although we see photos on here, I feel a visit is a must to appreciate the attention to detail. My wife came with me and pointed out details that I hadn't noticed. Her favourites were the 2 x 37s, despite my enthusiasm for the sound of D9009 echoing round the hall! Credit must also go to the ladies at the entrance for being so pleasant and enthusiastic about the enterprise.
  10. I remember Hornby did some early open containers to go with their Freightliner flats. I've seen these at several shows. If they're not very accurate, maybe with some research a satisfactory model could be scratchbuilt using these as a basis.
  11. Just a memory for all you Presflo fans--I used to see block loads passing through Barking. I wish I'd photographed them, but a vivid memory is that every horizontal surface was covered with cement dust. They also made a tremendous thump on the rail joints!
  12. Maybe a daft question but do these work on ballasted track?
  13. That's a great shot for us weatherers; must try to re-create that reddish-brown. Thanks Tommyboy.
  14. Despite Bradford Buffer's comment, I can't wait to see (and hear!) 55009. I'll have to get Andy to think about a thumbs-down thingemmybob!
  15. I managed to register but the long-wished-for Commonwealth coach bogies don't feature. Here's hoping.......!
  16. That's a terrific picture. Actually it's at Barking and taken from the Renwick Road bridge, with the Railhead Depot in the background.
  17. I too am keen to represent the Ford traffic (though in N-gauge) and am wondering which livery to pick. I recall the Silcock & Collings signage on trains rom Dagenham but can't be sure if MAT was represented; Tolemans was another name I remember.
  18. I've sourced an N-gauge headboard from John Peck at Precision Labels; looks very nice and should enhance the 28.
  19. Saw the samples at GETS--absolutely superb. Will have to make do with my N-gauge ones though!
  20. Hi Guys, An etched 'Con-dor' headboard for the Class 28 would be a must for customers for the Conflat Ps.
  21. Just wondering if advance tickets will be available. I'll be travelling from London and don't want to be disappointed.
