  1. I think the latest sound locos will run with 'noise' on dc, I had a blue sound peak, and that did. Similarly sound Hornby 50's.
  2. There really was no need for them to drag up me putting unleaded in my diesel Golf.
  3. Dave, That's great, thanks a lot. The viaduct, with dummy lines running off 'under', would make an interesting backscene too. I take it the concrete abutment is the link to the old coaling stage? Cheers. Ian
  4. Yes, that's exactly it, Mike. What a beaut of a photo. I'd seen some Kerry Parker pics on Flickr - and established there's a potential scenic break with the line coming from the south to the east at the higher level. I was trying to work out where the next scenic break was / would be - your pic above clearly shows it would be the viaduct line from west to east. With the release of the Bachmann 40, I'd been looking at a small (4' - 5') board with holding sidings and not the usual TMD. My layout aspirations are getting smaller and smaller! Alas, a much truncated effort would be my only option with this location. Cheers. Ian
  5. Dave, Just to resurrect this thread, where are the loco holding sidings (used in diesel days)?? Do they sit within the land between the Mossley Hill line and the right/left swing of Viaduct Jct. to Engine Shed Jct. Cheers, Ian
  6. This gives insights to the ingress of 25/45/46 onto Cornish metals. Always a mine of info: http://www.derbysulzers.com/Pic.html
  7. Was going to suggest the same, Kenton From looking at the beams across the width of the shed, they will have had a substantial bearing within the outer walls, to then reduce the width to 4-roads, the internal columns supporting the beams effectively become the 'new' outer wall and most likely offer a much a slimmer bearing for the beams. Ian
  8. ...the Old Clog and Knocker line... Reminds me of a Dutch website I once 'stumbled' across.
  9. This principle of a twin identity loco would play havoc with anyone operating a mini TOPS system!
  10. Will follow with interest, Peter - you going down the departmental route as 97 406?
  11. Obviously, you've clearly explained the principles of a weekend possession for engineering work?
  12. All the Best, Peter. Just out of interest, have you raised the bar and wrapped 4mm pressies - thus necessitating an additional turn for the Manchester parcels??? Ian

Pretty sure it was on the newsletter that also announced the revised Heljan 33's. My second weathered blue Western is working a clay hoods up from Cornwall, as I type. Ian

I see they've turned the cab lights off?!
  16. Yes, but due to Deltic production at Vulcan, they moved the build of 20 to Sandar Khan, erm, I mean Rbt. Stephenson & Hawthorn.
  17. I hope that Bachmann don't mimic the cab steps and handrail details in that image.
  18. Just had a panic attack that 'Royal Scots Grey' had been subjected to a makeover.
  19. Off over the fields with the dog to catch Union of South Africa fly through the newly re-laid Balshaw Lane Junction.

I was beginning to question whether I'd been to see it or not! Then the dog, who jumped in the river on the way home, lay against me with his wet paws. God Bless Border Terriers.

Dave, I work a lot with Construction Contracts and the presiding rule of thumb is that it generally follows that the law in the country in which the contract is formed takes precedent. So, if the contract was signed in England under English law, then the warranty would follow suit (should there be a claim under the contract and/or warranty), irrespective of where the work was physically undertaken - apologies if I've misunderstood what you've said above, and I don't aim to unpick what you've stated, I'm actually interested from the contract perspective. I suppose to short-circuit my text above, if an overseas buyer contracted with a UK shop, does the associated warranty not support this purchase? Finally, I've got 'Enterprise', 'Reliance' and await 'Princess'. I wish I could afford more, they are fantastic models.
  21. Nice touch in Scotland today where it is reported (BBC) 45407 Lancashire Fusilier halted its journey for 2 mins as a mark of respect for Fusilier Rigby's funeral.

      whoever did it -well done.

  22. That could be Speke / Garston way - some of the sidings were not wired with O/H and the factory in the distance could be the British Leyland Nr. 2 factory which sits above the cutting of the line from Hunts Cross to Warrington Central. Only know that as my dad worked for British Leyland or Triumph, as was. And then joined the railway. My split box 40 is lined up for this loco dependent upon how ways the tanks come off.
