  1. Hello Gordon, One can never do to much testing. Better to be safe than sorry(whatever that means) trustytrev.
  2. "quality" of the results is the ultimate goal of most modellers as far as I am aware. Some have "unrealistic expectations or standards" falling into that category myself sadly.
  3. Hello Gordon, You may possibly find joining MERG helpful when considering options for layout control. I chose their DCC kits for DCC operation of locomotives and will be using CBus for layout control with JMRI. They have quite a few variable choices besides those you may find suitable. I found being a member helped me understand the technology that is currently being employed in model railways these days as well. There is a lot of information and advice available. trustytrev.
  4. Hello, Here is a link for help and advise about windows 10.https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DNuwy75lZa64 The videos by Windows Forum on youtube are well worth a look at. Regards trustytrev.
  5. Hello Martin, I think the persons wanting to use Templot need to accept it is a unique piece of software that requires one to learn as one goes. I believe too often these days people expect everything at the click of a button. However for something as complex and varied as railway track that is just an unreasonable expectation. The fact you have done what you have and made it freely available is without comparison. The Templot Club has everything covered in my opinion. The only fault with it is your own personal choice to always step up and resolve nearly all issues yourself for people. That and introducing new features are the two biggest sources of time expenditure you commit yourself to. I truly believe you are entitled to spend your time doing stuff you prefer rather than feeling obliged to continuously assist in every aspect. Best Regards. trustytrev
  6. Hello, Some stunning models of a greater variation than one would expect for such a unsung part of railways. To think stuff would have soon stopped moving without them bringing order and control. trustytrev.
  7. Hello, I was thinking about suitability with regard to the effects of the solvents on the plastic syringes. trustytrev.
  8. Hello, Do you have a link for the ones you have used please? trustytrev.
  9. Hello, And don't forget the roof. In winter condensation will freeze to the surface. When it thaws out it will rain inside. One of the reasons I have not adopted my garage. It seemed a good idea building a really big one for cars years 40 years ago but converting it into a suitable place for a layout is ruled out purely by the cost to upgrade it. Mind you I cleared all the car stuff out ages ago but it is fuller now than then. Grandchildren and their stuff take up loads of space. trustytrev.
  10. Hello, Graphite is "definitely" a lubricant. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dry_lubricant#Graphite trustytrev.
  11. Hello, You could get two and butt them up together with the side glass left out in the middle where they meet. Just need to trim the bottom shelf on both and they sit together nicely. Run a bead of silicone down the join and jobs a good un. trustytrev.
  12. Hello, It is a lot easier and less hazardous to mount the back panel to the wall on it's own and assemble the rest to it. Lifting and holding the fully assembled item while drilling mounting holes is likely to end in tears and/or a visit to casualty. trustytrev.
  13. Hello Gordon, The clue is even in your own example. trustytrev.
  14. Hello, What about Graham Farish OO gauge LMS Non-Corridor coaches? Look like a good match for the coach nearest the locomotive. Some on ebay at the moment. trustytrev
  15. Hello Gordon, I spent ages looking for my tape measure. the other week. After an hour or so my other half (boss) said " what is that in your hand?" I was obviously just testing to see if she was paying attention.( wink nudge etc) Getting older is a real pain some times. trustytrev.
  16. Hello, The Mainline models of coach may be suitable. trustytrev.
  17. Hello. It's that extra cylinder Clive. Probably not used to anything that isn't in stereo. trustytrev.
  18. Hello, Not much different to coal then. As far as I am aware the fumes given of by burning any wood is toxic. That is why chimneys were invented. trustytrev.
  19. Hello Gordon, Ply does not burn well if it is piled on the fire flat stopping any air drawing the fire through. Put on edge and randomly to allow the air passage makes it burn really well. The same is true with chipboard or any other wood based sheet material. trustytrev.
  20. Hello Tony, CD and DVD disks deteriorate over time which can be quite variable to due to temperature/storage conditions and from brand to brand. Pretty random and unreliable in the long term. Hard drives with platters are likely to retain data longer than any other format if stored carefully. USB adapters can be obtained cheaply that enables them to be plugged into USB ports. USB ports are likely to be in use for some years to come even in the future. trustytrev.
  21. Hello, That would not be a problem if you booted the machine in question with a "live Linux Cd or USB stick. trustytrev.
  22. Hello, Had a reply from Lidl which may be of interest. trustytrev.
  23. Hello, Surely the people that manufacture products deserve a wage they can live on. Five for twenty quid is cheaper than you could get them made in Britain I would think. Too many people want something for nothing these days or at the expense of someone else. trustytrev.
  24. Hello, Just sent these to Ldl. Hope for some response. Those affected could contact them as well Regards trustytrev.
