  1. Sound fitting to the P2 was a doddle with the 21 pin HM7000 decoder. Couldn’t have gone better, although there isn’t space for the stay alive in the tender

as a side note, provided you don’t go nuts on the speed, I’ve made mine go round radius 1 curves (it’s all I have for my test track) without any modifications whatsoever.

  3. This was exactly the livery I had been waiting for. But it being a club exclusive is just too much for me - I had been hoping to pick it up for just under £200 from a box shifter, and it being just south of £250 including the membership means that this is  (currently) a bit of a non starter regrettably.

It looks so darn good too…

YES! I have been eagerly waiting for somebody to announce a run of proper OO Gauge S160s! If any of the ones announced were made by the Lima Locomotive Works they'll be coming home for sure! (Also if you mad lads do a fictional BR One.... 😁)

Not so fictional - they have appeared in BR livery in preservation :) so technically it will just be accurate modelling :)

(Not my photos, as always, please message me for removal if they are yours and they will be removed)

I'd suggest you try to see one or both streamliners in the flesh, it might help you of the fence, possible on the 'yeay' side. Mine just arrived here in Belgium, and they are flawless. The ridge is almost not visible, and it fits perfectly on both.

For those into HM7000 TXS, this is the fastest ever sound decoder installation. By far. If @Jenny Emilyneeds an idea for a short YT-video, highly recommended!

Unplug the tender, take the three screws out and open it, remove the cover Paper from the TXS-speaker, place it on the pre-installed speakerbox, plug in the decoder, connect the speaker, close up and connect the tender, and go! Typing this took me twice as long.

And if you are an idiot like me, and bought two locos and only one decoder, swapping the tenders is a five second job.

That is a neat arrangement for the speaker. Bravo Hornby

Is the streamlined P2 at Doncaster still being build? Haven't heard of it for quite some time?

Just had a look on the website - it’s still there, but it appears to have gone quiet. The first line on the page is a request for people to stay safe during COVID, although the website shop still seems to be operating.

  7. In defence of people who make low initial offers, I usually do chance my hand to see what discount can be obtained (assuming - not unreasonably I think that the button wouldn’t be there if the seller wasn’t willing to negotiate) but most sellers seem to have a hard time avoiding the rudeness when they respond. I’ve had plenty of answers along the lines of ‘get real’, ‘don’t waste my time’ etc. (but usually with more swear words).

I have however made some genuinely good purchases. A Flying Scotsman in black this week for £187, a brand new Shakespeare express train set for £125, classic computer games and books for pennies and so on. clearly these items were selling at prices acceptable to their sellers otherwise they wouldn’t be selling at all, and I’m happy to get them at less than the going rate.

  8. Got 1501 on order from Kernow - but am kind of hoping they don’t get sent out yet. I’m running out of money and can’t afford it until end of September :)

judging by the rough six week timeframe given I think I’ll be alright, but I’ve got two P2s, a leader and a railmotor all paid for and awaiting delivery myself, so its safe to say that it was expensive for me recently :)

The bit your shown doesn’t list what they think needs to be fixed and on past performance there is no guarantee they see what you & I see or that they care enough to change it.

Let’s give them a chance to mess up before we start condemning them for it shall we. It’s fairly clear that this is a work in progress

  10. In fairness, what we are seeing as white in the picture may be either over bright cream lining or a transposition of the red/white lining from the BR Grey versions. Neither is correct of course, but as pointed out, this is a decorated sample meant to highlight issues with the livery, which KR Model’s own comments highlight in the full post

So did these run in rakes or individually or a combination of the two?

I think there is probably evidence of them being used both ways out there. However, I believe that the most common usage would have been in larger numbers grouped together as where traffic justified the use of one wagon, the chances are that there was enough stuff to shift to justify the use of many (ship arriving at port and offloading huge quantities for example)

I sold a book on 30th May and the customer has requested a refund. But there are delays in the postal network and I did say that due to the on going industrial actions there could be a delay to the item.

I also said that the item has to be returned to me before I give any refunds. I have been caught out before when the an item has lost it's way in the postal system.

    Terry.

Regrettably, you may end up losing out on that one. Until delivery has been made, the seller is deemed responsible for the item, and eBay tends to hand out refunds themselves if things haven’t arrived, regardless of if you’ve had things sent back or not

  13. I’d try another couple of messages, but if you haven’t heard anything back by the weekend, id open up an ‘item not received’ case on eBay.

whilst it is possible that the owner is unavailable due to something out of their control (hospital etc.) you’re still out of pocket. In the event of absent mindedness/holidays etc. then I don’t think that that is much of a reason personally. They are happy enough to have you pay up
