Bit simplistic I think.
When EWS ordered the 66s , the only way they could get them at the spec, price and in the time was order from abroad.
The 58s were non standard and it has been said, a part from one wouldn't go in another.
The 60s simply sidelined as work finished / was gained by other companies.
Brilliant atmosphere. Are you going to exhibit it ?
I'd be really interested to know how you made the curved DBS shed, as I'm contemplating something similar, but not sure how to proceed.
They look good mark, I've got 2 FV432s crying out to be on these as well as two scimitars to build.
Just gotta convince my OCD brain that they are oK without the widening panels - which I guess would only look odd if I get warriors to put in them
We all have different parts of this great hobby that interest us more than others - your thing is DRS and locos.
I don't see any DRS stuff down here in Wiltshire so for me it's EWS, DB, bit of colasand a bit of freightliner....that creates the interest In The current day
Re sticking down,,
I've got code 100. I drill a hole in centre of a few sleepers and put a track pin in, when I have ballasted it, I rely on that to keep it glued down, remove the pins, fill the holes and paint with sleeper grime colour
I know people that have done it, but my attempts with T cut didn't work,
One corner if the logo was stubborn and I couldn't shift it, eventually went right through to the grey paint
That's sometimes the issue with blue box wagons.....one offs, so I can't buy ten and run them as a rake. Missing a trick a little.
As an aside I'm guessing DB schenker/ EWS licence is more expensive than others judging by the cost differential on upcoming class 66s
I have three cans of testers and am less than impressed.
Far from being the holy grail I found it gives a Matt but blotchy finish, TBH I found humbrol better
That's really nice, and something a bit individual. I'd certainly like one of those but the number of unfinished projects gathering dust is out of hand !
Stil haven't the courage to try mine - had it since April 2016 !
I'm in a catch 22 , need nice weather to spray , can't be arsed when it's hot and sunny though especially as it all sounds such a PITA
Glad it's paying off ...
One thing I think would sell ( not to me much but I'm not pie in the sky ) and seems to be asked for a lot is a refurbished nose 45, seems to be on recurring wish lists ....
Of just stick with the jockanese stuff !
To be fair,
It would be better to highlight any " dogs " as 99.9% of the Bachmann stuff is fantastic.
I have no experience of the steamies, but the 37s are great ( after they sorted out the first shape ),47s do the job ( dodgy rivets and pain in the butt cabside clips excepted ). 66 is a 12 year old tooling now but still holds up well.
Wagons are excellent - i love my polybulks , and not forgetting the inspection saloon....
I always feel bachy are like Ford or Vauxhall , churning out the stuff we need day in day out. Customer support seems good and the collectors club is a bargain .
