  1. I've had both. The Hornby one has better detail, but I kept knocking it off. The Bachmann one is enduring and more liveries - I had an original one which ran like a dog due to dirty ( and hard to get at ) pick ups. I have but one now, a later Bachmann 08839, which runs great. So if you get a Bachmann get a later one.
  2. And....nothing... Just wondered if it was deliberate or a cock up ...
  3. Ah, now that's useful. Dumbass here didn't think of getting the black off. I'll strip that first and undercoat, may get better adhesion then. I'll have a look at the humbrol range maybe something nearer mustard .
  4. Thanks lee, I only wanted to paint a 47 head ode panel from black, but it seems it will be a major undertaking
  5. Nice work... Can I ask what you use paint wise to match to Bachmann blue diesels warning panel yellow ? Seems a lot more mustard than the railmatch 1202 pre 84 warning panel yellow
  6. Hobbyco seems to have lost interest in supporting vi spares. Some people have had luck in contacting vi in Italy direct. TBh you'd be better off replacing them with better ones as the moulds are pretty naff. If you don't go down that path send me a PM as I may have some vi spares
  7. I'd love to see this in the flesh and there's not many layouts I'd say that about. Is there any appearances near swindon ? Or I'm in chian clay country from 23-30 May ?
  8. There are pictures of this in ' diesels on shed ' from OpC that I have. I guess copyright stops me reproducing them here, although OPC is long defunct ?
  9. The word yodel fills me with fear. All my deliveries from them have been poor
  10. Looking really good, I'm sure it'll be a hit at the show
  11. I've used wicked tiles with hobby craft pVA for ages with no problems. I wonder how much longer diy stores will stock cork tiles though as a/ can't be popular anymore b/ some places won't stock them as an environmental issue ( B&Q told me this as they didn't have any )
  12. Those tanks are cool, I'm looking for some slurry tanks circa 1982, but I'm not sure what they had TBH
  13. Looks pretty good piece of personalisation, I'll have to see if I can make Chippenham. I guess if you don't like 33s, you can omit them as all the local freight / Portsmouth runs was 31/0 , 31/4 at that time ? Looking at Kevin's thread I think there was a fair few peak diagrams around, this is borne out by the shots of them at bath road
  14. I didn't think of the flask trains. Are you having any bath road 56s or where they later too ?
  15. That looks alot better I think. I may get to see the layout as all the appearances are local to me
  16. Loving the layout, would love to see it at some point it looks great. Here's my 47104, maybe we should start a WR fleet A minor suggestion, if any, the parcels bridge may have looked better if it went to a very low relief impression of a building the other side - it kinda goes into the hills at present ? Anyway, keep up the good work
  17. Just buy two pristine ones then, and change the number on one ! Simples.
  18. Love the slurry loader, I could do with building one of these for my plank
  19. I think that was the new office for trainload coal in fact.
  20. Neither mate, mainly hand operated points
