  1. My wife has stood at the door to the railway room but has not crossed the threshold. And that is the way it's going to stay ....
  2. It is this reason why I had to give up with Peco and pursue the handbuilt option. I tried using curved and straight pointwork but it was too difficult to acheive a flowing line, it would be ok for one line on a crossover but not the other. There are now 120 sheets of A3 (Templot) covering the baseboards !
  3. I'm afraid I'm an advocate of the razorblades option in this instance. I do a bit of C & W volunteering and it's hard enough looking after mark 1's which are a bit more useful.
  4. Does it come in a bag ? Ok Put me down for one too.
  5. Oh yes, we were burgled earlier in the year and the thief had a lucky day and walked off with £30k + of madams jewelry, the Police (who were very good) said that we should not expect to see it again as it was in a cash 4 gold shop/envelope by the end of the day or the following morning. They called them legitimate fences who did more to help crime. sorry back on topic now....
  6. Yes, but what if you used "Lemon fresh" would that give a yellow hue.......... Have to go Nurse is banging on the door....
  7. I get what you are saying but most companies would not reveal what they intended doing re-production for fear of helping a competitor. I would also say that even if someone approached them and some form of positive dialogue took place they would prefer not to see it on a public forum. I could be wrong but I know I tell my competition nothing as it has burnt me in the past, can't imagine Peco are any different. Looking at the companies house figures is interesting and does show that the 20% figure for UK sales is nothing more than a figure plucked from the air.
  8. I'm getting a bit lost as to the point of your posts, what you are quoting are made to order from C&L components or copperclad. If you don't like or agree with the thread, don't read it. It's pretty simple really.
  9. The options you listed earlier when you replied to the post range from £40+ (point) to £100+ (slip) for Timber tracks kits. If a RTL point was £41 it could be argued as better value, but what the poster could be after is consistent quality.
  10. Looking good. I tried painting between the sleepers but didn't get a result half as good as yours. I seem to get on best with sticking the track and ballast down at the same time.
  11. I like the big wedge under the badly cut purlin support....... And Cornflakes.....hungry work?
  12. I'm in the process of changing from Peco 75 to Exactoscale, I know it's not RTL but it has the look I'm after, I posted this pic a couple of days ago on my layout thread The plain track is simple enough but I've commisioned the pointwork from a professional builder (I think of him as another manufacturer, like Peco but better) cost ? think X4 I would of loved RTL pointwork but think that the complexity of the location I'm building could only account for maybe half.
  13. For me ultimately it has to be the 12" to the foot one that is the real inspiration. but on topic there wasn't one single layout that made me think "I'd have that at home" until I saw Biggleswade (at Biggleswade), until then I had seen cameos and parts of layouts that I liked and fancied recreating, but not a complete layout. Biggleswade changed that, I saw that you could recreate a location well known (to me) extremely accurately, with prototypical operation and make it look and run well in 00. But Then I found RMWeb and on here there is so much more, Peterborough North, If I can come somewhere near the stock and look that Gilbert is achieving then I'll be happy, same goes for Eastwood Town Gordon is a bit Stop/start like me but when he starts he produces some superb looking track and environs, I find his progress is inspirational. I know I lean towards Eastern region but it's what I grew up with.
  14. Isn't this on the site of the abandoned Chesterton jctn Pway yard ?
  15. I don't recognise it as ugly, I think more Functional. Be interesting to see how you get along, good choice of prototype.
  16. Excellent, another ECML layout, at this rate there's only a few gaps to fill in and you do the journey! Does the low height affect working on the underside of the boards or are they easy to remove and spin over ? there's a lot of wiring even on a simple 2 wire DCC.(as I found out, 2 wires but 110 droppers!) Don't worry about the lack of fiddle yard, but what I would do is mark out the boards to accept as much as possible and work to that plan filling in as you require, if you can split roads up to accommodate various lengths of train.
  17. I have to make some up as well, I was thinking along the lines of ply/mdf base with peco 100 (I have lots) ripping up some more ply and fixing at the sides of the 100, rebating it so it fits over the sleeper ends so only the rail is visible, this would act as a re-railer, I intend making the sides just a bit higher than the stock so they can stack on each other. Hope this makes sense.
  18. Just what were you watching ? Is that 'pay per view Tv' * . . . . . . . . . . . * so I've been told.........
  19. That's beginning to sound like a wish list. . . .on my Map there's nothing West of Sandy (unless of course the GN was there) I know exactly what you mean about Peterborough North, Eastwood Town etc, I am in the process of changing everything in pursuit of a higher standard of trackwork. Of course if it all goes wrong I expect Gilbert to buy at least one copy of "The Big Issue" off me.... Those shots of the trackwork are quite mesmerising, I found myself zooming in to see the detail.
  20. What is this "other" main line you speak of. . . . . . . . .can't find it on my map
  21. And yet for us North of King's Cross/St Pancras it's so much better than Waterloo.
  22. Any of the Great Northern Atlantics. . . . In fact anything Great Northern
  23. This was in Cabo St Lucas, Mexico a couple of weeks ago. Somehow can't see this sign outside lloyds chemist on Sandy Market square.........
  24. Saw something similar coming through Miami Airport on Thursday and took a pic, when I pointed it out to my wife she groaned and said "I suppose you'll be putting that on RMWeb" Beat me to it you b****r..
